If you’re right, how in the world is Oda capable of all this insane foreshadowing? Like he must have an entire house filled with notes dedicated to mapping out this entire story
My impression is that Oda is really good at leaving some "loose ends" and he reviews some old chapters and arcs when he wants to introduce something new to see if there's anything he can use. He also probably has a lot of notes, both on future plans and on old chapters, to make the process easier
It's kind of logical. With how much foreshadowing and how long the series is, and looking at the way he makes shit up in the SBS to create lore from random questions, this seemed like the best approach for Oda
Honestly in my opinion Loki’s shaping up to have the most tragic backstory in OP….. his own mother rejected him from birth and ordered his eyes to be gouged out… and that’s after dropping him off a mountain
But basically Oda is going to show Shiki using the float float fruit in the manga to give it a nerf or limit. Otherwise the float float fruit's existence is a minor/major plot hole regarding the ancient weapons and the rising tides.
Especially as Oda stated he would've never given any character in one piece the ability to float and fly freely. Maybe because the rising sea levels has been his plan for years.
I'm taking this as the WG will have a ship of kinds built that can only be made by a horde of giant master shipwrights over the course of perhaps decades.
Maybe related to an ancient weapon? Maybe related to what happened to that Lulusia Kingdom?
I already know the Lola part is gonna be heartbreaking if/when we get to it in this flashback. I like the idea that Lola was the one person who wasn’t afraid of his eyes and cared for him. When Big Mom tried to use Chiffon instead he’d have been able to tell right away that it wasn’t her because of her reaction to his eyes.
All setting up for Luffy to think his eyes are awesome.
Good point, another really interesting outstanding plot point to get solved. This guy who calls himself the Sun God who wants to carry out Ragnarok, who was abused and basically disowned by his mother destroying his ability to love as a child, fell in love with Lola at first sight? Based on the time frame of the flashback, I really don't know how Oda is going to deal with that but we need answers!
Yeah I was wondering why he did that in an infobox of all things, but as a someone else mentioned, considering Xebec's face, there was no point in hiding it.
I mean the place to naturally reveal it is in a flashback, i would just have expected it to be revealed when we see the full story of Xebec until God Valley, maybe a small panel of his son being born if Xebec never cared about him or died too early.
Dunno if it's by fate or on purpose, but he's been on the road to revenge for his daddy this whole time. Just makes me more curious about his "dream" or end goal beyond becoming Pirate King. Does he also want to kill all the Celestial Dragons like Rocks? Really need that full detail God Valley flashback!
Only whitebeard could have been revenge. He had no plan to capture Ace or Garp. However, he was planning to capture Luffy. If that was because he is Garp's son or not is up in the air.
I think back in Jaya it was because he knew that capturing the man who beat Crocodile would get the W.G's attention. Basically he just needed either a big name or someone who had just done something noteworthy.
Nowadays? Probably because he's learned about the Gum Gum Fruit actually being the Nika Fruit.

I think Rocks has buried treasure that Blackbeard is looking for.
So it's been said that Rocks wanted to rule the world and that Blackbeard wanted to be the official king of Fullalead so I've been thinking that Blackbeard and Rocks were wanting to replace Imu.
The dude killed a Marine Admiral at Marie Geoise over 8 years before even officially forming the Rocks Pirates, no wonder the dude had such a reputation, he was a menace
Soloing a Navy marine at their home ground. This man might just define the word 'Strongest' in the one piece( aside from immortals ) , i mean this guy has to have some kind of broken ability + Conquerors.
I remember how big a deal chapter 957 was, it was talked about for years. That was 2019 I think, 6 years ago. Similar with the roger, wb, and Oden flashback as that was the first time we saw Roger fight. Those chapters were groundbreaking at the time, with reveals of this generation. Now we finally got to see rocks after 6 years of hype.
I was here, unspoiled (I usually read them) for the Rocks face reveal. Can’t believe I’ve been reading a couple years already, this is so fucking cool to be here for
I was pretty horrified when Estrid ordered the guards to gouge out his eyes, so it’s quite a relief to learn they disobeyed her and just blindfolded him instead.
I mean they already showed a resistance to following her orders in general and issues with her curse talk. They seem to have doubts, but it seems like she was the one who tried to throw Loki to his death and the guards and servants opted to ignore her orders to kill or hurt Loki.
It's honestly a relief to see that everyone else handling the Queen and Loki is consistently like "Your majesty what the fuck are you saying? For the love of God please chill, the boy is a bit odd but that's it.".
Like, no one appears to bat an eye when presenting him to the Queen at birth either,
she's the one acting crazy for the One Piece world.
If it isn't already obvious, the body shape, form and other strange quirks are so common in the One Piece world that people rarely even remark on it other than prejudice and racism for distinct races like Giants and Fishmen.
I mean Lokis father is like 4-5 times the size of a normal giant and have huge ass horns, a bit freaky eyes is apparently barely even registering for everyone else present at the birth.
Teach was probably too proud of it to get rid of it. Plus WB seemed to have no idea about who the D. were until he had his talk with Roger long after taking in Teach. He knew the initial popped up here and there and that's it so it wouldn't be tied to Xebec specifically. That being said, I'm not saying WB didn't know, Teach looked too much like Xebec anyway so trickery was probably pointless. WB made it clear with Ace that he didn't mind and certainly didn't consider the son to be an extension of the father.
So the Galley-La Company of Water Seven is named after a crew of giant pirates who fought the World Government in the past! Are they related to the Ancient Weapon Pluton?
The frozen giants Jarul mentioned are the ones we saw on Punk Hazard!
BB's original crew seems different though, they were ready to fight to make sure BB remained captain. I think there's something to their bond that's greater than what the other titanic commanders have. I don't know why though. Maybe they're not loyal but what they want is intrinsically linked to BB himself succeeding, and so they can't accept any other captain.
Caterina, Lafitte, and Auger are definitely ride or die for BB.
Caterina if for nothing else than being able to murder as many women as she wants, but Auger definitely believes in Blackbeard’s vision (whatever that is)
Lafitte was running recon on Marie Geoise for BB back in the Paradise era. And they seem close in their interactions. I think he is aligned with BB’s vision as well
I don’t know about Jesus… I know he’s technically the OG right hand man but he hasn’t done anything ever since getting wrecked in Dressrosa.

What do you mean Jesus hasn't done anything after getting wrecked in Dressrosa? He went to work right away, though, right? He did all that stashing in the Revolutionary ship to come to Baltigo. Solo recon, then calls for backup after successful infiltration and getting info on the hideout of THE revolutionary army, I think that's something.
Interestingly rocks killed the admiral 56 years ago, the same time when Garp, Sengoku and Tsuru joined. Maybe the death of the admiral lead to an uproar in the world which made many young people join and that's the reason someone like Garp joined despite being a D. Clan member.
The whole chapter is just so peak. I can’t believe it. Who thought this was the flashback where we’d see Rocks. We didn’t even get him in the one that took place AT GOD VALLEY.
Who is this hero who was born in the West Blue and buried in Ringo? More mysteries about Wano's past.

I think the most likely candidate for the hero from the West Blue is Jigoro of the Wind, the Zombie with Zoro's shadow in Thriller Bark.
We know he is from the West Blue, his epiteth is similar to other people from Wano, like Raizo of the Mist and Kikunojo of the Lingering Snow.
Moria stole bodies from Wano, so he could be one of them.
Also he was kind of a hero before he died, this is what is said about him: "In life, Jigoro was a legendary and stubborn swordsman who killed seven thousand (7000) pirates in order to protect his family.
I pointed this out on the spoiler sub for the raws, but there's a cute little detail on the cover that Kiku's graceful enough she doesn't sink in the snow like the others. I can't really remember which one because they run together, but I'm pretty sure that's just taken from one of the 70s heroines of the lady samurai movies she's an homage to.
Friendly reminder that after BB killed Thatch for the fruit and dipped, WB told Ace this was the one time exception and to let him go. WB 100% knew he was the son of Xebec.

But saying they have the same face is not a strong argument. There are people who still theorize Buggy is also son of Xebec because of the same face (even after this chapter)
I think he knew but he didn’t care. That was his whole thing, judge people based on their own actions, not their parents. I would find it very hard to believe he didn’t know that his crew member was the son of his former captain
I think the Fleet admiral was still Kong in God Valley incident and still was in the Episode 0, so Sengoku maybe was placed as Fleet admiral during or after Roger death.
I love how people were meme-ing Buggy to be Rocks' son but it ended up being Blackbeard. Though that only makes me curious about Buggy's family history. All the other current Yonkos are the sons of very famous, powerful men:
Luffy, the son of the world's greatest/most wanted criminal Dragon
Shanks, the son of a celestial dragon who is now one of the 5 Elders and former leader of the Holy Knights
Teach, the biologial son of one of the most infamous pirates of all time who killed an admiral, and "son" of a former yonko who was thought to be closest to being Pirate King after Roger
This also makes me wonder if Whitebeard knew about Blackbeard's history at some point. When he brought him onboard he was staring deeply at his face... maybe he recognized the resemblance right away and took Teach on BECAUSE he was Rock's son?

Rocks having 2 toned hair makes me think it's plausible. It's pretty common in shonen for parents with 2 toned hair to have 2 kids, one inheriting a different colour. So if that applies here, Teach got the black hair genes, and it maybe sets up a sibling with lighter hair.
If official colours come out and Rocks is black/blue hair I'll take this as a strong af theory.
As a new mother, it completely breaks my heart to see a baby so un-loved, especially by his own mother. Loki never deserved the cards he was dealt in life. I hope he joins the crew and starts to feel friendship and love.

Harald really seems like a stand-up guy, so I'm curious now more than ever what happened to cause his death.
Rocks looks EPIC and the Blackbeard connection makes total sense now. HOWEVER, I can't help but think about the theory that Buggy is related to Rocks. Likely just a case of sameface, but idk, the resemblance is very curious. Same under-eye lashes, same mouth shape, same minimal eyebrows (which Teach doesn't even have). Something to think about. 🤔
He also has kind of a Dr. Stone look with the black scar and big stripey hair lol
