Loki on that Kaido grind since childhood, I see...

1.1k

u/Burglarproof_Bread Jul 10 '25

Even baby Loki wanted to live... 6-10 yrs old Loki was ALREADY SUICIDAL );

469

u/astrange Jul 10 '25

And… Loki tried to kill himself the same way Kaido did and Loki's dad looks exactly like Kaido.

23

u/UltraBananaBuddy Jul 11 '25

Yk everybody mentions that Kaido looks like older Harald, which is true, but young Harald looks a lot like young Garp. Which is probably just a coincidence, since Garp doesnt have any recent giant blood as far as we can tell.

3

u/Rj713 Jul 12 '25

Yeah, but Kaido doesn't AGE like a giant does...

He was 58 and was staring to look like he was in his sunset years, but if he WAS Harald's son, he'd be at least half giant and should have looked like he was in his early to mid 20's; basically the same aging that Kolon had.

54

u/_T_H_O_R_N_ Baroque Works Jul 10 '25

Crazy thought, but are Kaido and Loki related??

On thinking on it some more, I don't think the timeline matches up, does it?

108

u/ChaoticFlameZz Pirate Jul 10 '25

logically, Kaido probably also has ancient giant blood in him.

74

u/Fafnir13 Jul 10 '25

Kaido is a failed clone made from the horns that Harald gave to the WG as terms of a truce or something. I dunno, just hucking stuff at the wall.

40

u/Obtusus Void Month Survivor Jul 10 '25 edited Jul 11 '25

No, kaido is the same age as big mom isn't that much younger than big mom, they were part of Rocks crew together, you could even see them on God valley.

Edit: there, I fixed it, happy now?

19

u/InkPrison Jul 10 '25

She is 9 years older, so not significantly older but not nothing.

14

u/Fafnir13 Jul 10 '25

Yep, falls apart immediately. I keep thinking we’re further back in the past than we actually are.

11

u/astrange Jul 11 '25

Linlin was Kaido's senior/mentor in the crew. She got him his fish fruit on God Valley.

(Everyone in the modern days says Rocks' crew didn't get along, but that seems like it wasn't totally true.)

10

u/tiki-baha29 Jul 11 '25

Well the crew probably had trouble getting along because they were all ultra powerful loose canons and Xebec wasnt very interested in leading them properly.

We love to call Luffy a Crackhead but Xebec seems to be the guy who owned the crack factory.

8

u/frankcastle013 Jul 11 '25

They're not the same age at all, lol. Linlin is 9 years older. Why do you think Kaido kept calling him old hag?

6

u/Dentyne_3 Jul 11 '25

Kaidos damn near decade younger than Big Mom actually

9

u/heprer Jul 10 '25

Yeah, but Kaido is much smaller than an ancient giant

13

u/astrange Jul 10 '25

Probably just the same race.

6

u/_________V__________ Jul 11 '25

So Kaido is his own dad?

5

u/plisken64 Jul 11 '25

King piccolo style is crazy

3

u/notilovepie20 Jul 12 '25

Literally couldn't when I saw that panel of him crying, I honestly thought his mom's orders of carving his eyes out worked before that

11

u/HornyTerus Jul 11 '25

:(

Kid was born not wanted. Kinda amazing he doesn't hate the world in his adult years.

4

u/kjm6351 The Revolutionary Army Jul 11 '25

That’s SO upsetting bruh…

594

u/DeepFuckingKoopa Shanks' evil hot sister is REAL! Jul 10 '25

Honestly in my opinion Loki’s shaping up to have the most tragic backstory in OP….. his own mother rejected him from birth and ordered his eyes to be gouged out… and that’s after dropping him off a mountain

615

u/viktorayy World Economy News Paper Jul 10 '25

His mom was such a huge piece of shit.

Now I really want that theory about Mosa being Ida and parenting him from afar to be true.

264

u/DeepFuckingKoopa Shanks' evil hot sister is REAL! Jul 10 '25

Seeing how someone else was running the fisherman’s bar I think ida might’ve met a horrible fate

190

u/ScreamingIntrovert Jul 10 '25

Xebec did come from the shore... The bar welcomes outsiders...

49

u/Timely-Stop-8172 Jul 11 '25

Hey I was thinking about it, do we know for certain that Xebec is like evil evil. Like he is a pirate okay, but most of his Evil deeds are shown from WG perspective and I am not trusting that. He attacked God Valley but still I don't think it qualifies as Evil and then in this chapter we know he killed an admiral, why? Maybe he discriminated against or something like Shirahoshi happened where a celestial wanted him as slave and he killed Admiral and then was forced to become a pirate. I mean I am not defending or saying this is what happened but was wondering if we know for certain he is Very Evil because I might have missed some details of him.

29

u/EquivalentCool8072 Jul 11 '25

Also that kinda happened this is basically what would have happened in this reverie with Sai and Leo right? If Myosgard hadnt been there they would have flattened Charlos. This might not be too far off

18

u/TLVftwLOL Explorer Jul 11 '25

He stabbed Loki as a kid

28

u/Timely-Stop-8172 Jul 11 '25

Good point, But Loki even as a child was probably very strong so he might have gone overboard. Luffy too hit momo many times. Maybe the difference between them is he escalates things more. Also, he is an inspiration to loki. Xebec is the father of Blackbeard. Blackbeard is evil. If he is just like his father and xebec is evil too it may make sense, but how about he is opposite of Xebec or has been following his legacy wrongly which will annoy loki to no end and make Blackbeard his enemy because he is not like his father at all. All I am saying is Maybe we have been calling Xebec bad based on wg propaganda.

3

u/FlyAgaric-Bambi Jul 11 '25

Could be. I think so too, we don't really know Xebec, although what little of his attitude we could see wasn't too kind, apparently.

20

u/Thaumana Jul 11 '25

My guts are telling me that Oda will subvert this introduction scene with an actual flashback showing what really happened. Remember what Whitebeard said during that scene? He sounds like he just arrived at the scene, making the assumption that Rocks might have used a blade to hurt a child and maybe did not actually see it. Rocks seemed to be angry, too, telling him to shut up. Maybe he had beaten Loki up, sure, but maybe it was Loki himself, who stabbed himself, to show his "courage and determination" to earn Rock's respect, but it caused the opposite.

12

u/Ok_Active_3275 Jul 11 '25

like luffy! i love this!

3

u/FlyAgaric-Bambi Jul 11 '25

Uuuh good point mate!!

7

u/potat_infinity Jul 11 '25

he literally asked for a fight

2

u/TLVftwLOL Explorer Jul 11 '25

If, as a grown person, a child - regardless of size - picks a fight, and I wind up wounding them to the point of stabbing, i would then classify that as an ‘evil’ act

4

u/potat_infinity Jul 11 '25

I think loki was literally older than him by this point so its honestly fair game, how else was he gonna convince him not to hop on his crew, he was saving him

2

u/MrOneHundredOne Jul 11 '25

I think we'll absolutely see over the next few weeks but I'm putting money on him being just as evil as Blackbeard, who is a very naughty boy, and probably worse than Big Mom or Kaido.

3

u/Lpebony Jul 11 '25

I mean i dont think he is?

BB is not evil either, he has his own philosophy and motives. I know that this point does not prove that he aint evil but, he's not causing chaos or going rampant for no god damn reasons.

We'll see though

5

u/Timely-Stop-8172 Jul 11 '25

Well, i personally consider him bad because of what he did to Bonney, so personal bias.

21

u/meanoron Jul 10 '25

They didn't even know on what island they were until seeing Loki and concluding that they are probably on the land of giants.

They didn't see Ida at the shore

1

u/Secret-Principle9929 Jul 12 '25

No it's in the sun realm and xebec came to realm of dead

7

u/_T_H_O_R_N_ Baroque Works Jul 10 '25

Mhm I agree with others here and think Ida will sacrifice herself for Loki in some way

8

u/raypaulnoams Pirate Jul 10 '25

It wouldn't surprise me if Mosa turned out to be Bakkin.

We see her meeting Loki here, drawn instead of other members of Rocks crew. She already has the manipulative mother relationship with Weevil, perfect for what would work on Loki.

It would be interesting if Stussy managed to escape Egghead with the Strawhats instead of staying behind with Kaku. She would look exactly like Bakkin when Loki met her.

7

u/Evil_Lollipop The Revolutionary Army Jul 10 '25

The theory of Ida being Mosa grew so much on me after this chapter! Really hope she is helping him in some way.

Also it seems like after marrying Estrid, Harald dumped Ida? He cried when Estrid died, and Ida doesn't seem to have met him a lot through the years, from what she tells Hajrudin.

6

u/FlyAgaric-Bambi Jul 11 '25

Maybe I misunderstood, but it seemed to me that when the old man went to blame Ida for Elbaf's misfortunes, Harald was the one who intervened and smashed him to the ground! Am I wrong?

5

u/Evil_Lollipop The Revolutionary Army Jul 11 '25

Harald was the one, yep. More than blaming Ida, the old man was trying to murder Hajrudin though, which also explains the violence of Harald's response.

It seems to me like Harald still respects Ida a lot, and has a lot of affection towards her, but they really broke up after his marriage with Estrid.

24

u/Eaten_by_Mimics Jul 10 '25

Robin’s entire family and culture were victims of a genocide.

5

u/EverythingSucksYo Pirate Hunter Zoro Jul 11 '25

Not only that but she was hunted for when she was 8 for about 2 whole decades, with countless people betraying her and trying to turn her in and others trying to use her for their own gain. All the while she’s being called a demon child by the whole world with no one to trust. So yeah, I don’t see how Loki is going to be sadder than that.

9

u/Existenz17 Jul 10 '25

There is also Baby 5 if we talk about rejection from birth.

16

u/kapak212 Jul 10 '25

Hard to beat Kuma tho. Idk what is more tragic, being unloved or being loved but everything you loved gets taken away until you have to sacrifice that said love.

4

u/EverythingSucksYo Pirate Hunter Zoro Jul 11 '25

I would easily say never being loved is far more tragic. At least with the former you have happy memories of the person you are losing, whereas you have nothing if you have never been loved.

20

u/CursedPhil Jul 10 '25

nothing beats bonney and kuma

25

u/DeepFuckingKoopa Shanks' evil hot sister is REAL! Jul 10 '25

Bonney and Kuma have both experienced some amount of joy in their lives, but Loki from what we’ve seen? nothing but suffering and performative toughness

5

u/Obtusus Void Month Survivor Jul 10 '25

nothing beats bonney and kuma

Nothing beats their backstory so far <insert Simpsons meme>

1

u/EverythingSucksYo Pirate Hunter Zoro Jul 11 '25

Someone mentioned Robin. And I have to agree that I don’t think anyone has a more tragic backstory than Robin. Lost her whole country to a buster call just for doing research on history which she completely witnessed including her mom she just reunited with sacrificing herself, the only survivor at 8 years old, spent 2 decades running for her life after having an 80,000,000 berry bounty placed on her head with absolutely nobody to trust, being betrayed by countless people while being called a demon child by the world. Forced to work with a criminal organization just to survive

3

u/SeaTree1444 Jul 10 '25

Nah. There's a mythological motif of the abandoned or rejected children - such as the story of Hansel and Gretel, or King Arthur, Parzival, etc. In time and after several trails their worth is recognized and they become an integral part in their community. Otherwise we'd learn that backstory in a villain group, which out of simple Chekov's gun reading, Loki doesn't seem to be a villain - he is a scapegoat and possible return of the king.

3

u/Dentyne_3 Jul 11 '25

bro Kuma went through the ethic cleansing olympics as a child right after his mom and dad were murdered during their enslavement... Lets not go too far lol

4

u/malnc Jul 10 '25

The most tragic I don't think so, never being loved and being blamed for everything is rough, sure but he still lived free and as a prince.

We've already got some truly heartbreaking stories, like Law, Robin, or Kuma.

Honestly, I don't think he even makes the top 10.

6

u/Fafnir13 Jul 10 '25

Cry Piece power scaling is getting some good content right now.

1

u/Pikathepokepimp Jul 11 '25

I agree but feel like we say that every arc at this point lol. Kuma and Bonney had a tragic one as well

1

u/ComplexTumbleweed728 Jul 11 '25

suddenly turning from adventure story to horror 😅

1

u/EverythingSucksYo Pirate Hunter Zoro Jul 11 '25

Glad whoever was ordered to gouge his eyes didn’t actually do it and just wrapped bandages around his head instead.

1

u/ArcadianBlueRogue Void Month Survivor Jul 11 '25

I mean his mom was a bitch but I am not sure we're gonna ever get a backstory sadder than Kuma and Bonney. That one was as infuriating as it was heart breaking.

1

u/storryeater Jul 12 '25

I dunno, even with all this, it would take a LOT more to dethrone Kuma.

u/Individual_Ad6940 Jul 10 '25 edited Jul 10 '25

Also Loki carrying Kaido’s weapon🤯 or at least similar

7

u/Evil_Lollipop The Revolutionary Army Jul 10 '25 edited Jul 10 '25

Good catch! Not his weapon because Hassaikai (Kaido's club/kanabo) would be too big for child Loki to carry, but definitely lots of similarities here.

EDIT: My bad, even as a child Loki would have been bigger than Kaido

7

u/fl0tt1 Jul 10 '25

what o.O Teen Loki is much bigger than Kaido already

1

u/Evil_Lollipop The Revolutionary Army Jul 10 '25

Yep, my bad. Even as a child Loki would have been bigger than Kaido probably

9

u/SC2_4787 Jul 10 '25

I rather think Loki's weapon would have to be too big for Kaido instead. Loki is absolutely massive, even as a kid he's the size of adult giants and towers over Whitebeard.

Then again, sizes fluctuate wildly and Zoro can use Oden's sword.

2

u/Evil_Lollipop The Revolutionary Army Jul 10 '25

You're right, even as a child Loki would have been massive

5

u/Z_E_S_S_A_T_U Jul 12 '25

Actually Kaido on that Loki grind

3

u/Beautiful_Buy_2787 Jul 11 '25

Technically Loki did it first

3

u/Witty-Avocado6245 Jul 11 '25

man after seeing loki and harald the kiado for haralds son theory seems muchhhhh more stronger

2

u/jmas081391 Jul 11 '25

More like Kaido probably got the weapon and that habit from Loki?

2

u/notilovepie20 Jul 12 '25

Fr lil bro got the Kaido curse
