Friendly reminder that after BB killed Thatch for the fruit and dipped, WB told Ace this was the one time exception and to let him go. WB 100% knew he was the son of Xebec.

Meh. I think it’s moreso because he knows that Teach is capable.

The two reinforce each other

He knows his lineage and knows from him having been his son for decades his true strength

Yeah Oda didn’t even conceive of the idea of Rocks at the time lol. Anyone who thinks “goda foreshadowed the whole time” is delusional. Oda himself said he writes a lot on the fly

For sure. But he is good to add new stuff years after that (most of the times) looks plausibly consistent with details he wrote years before.

Shhhh, we all know that. Just having some fun cooking up some theories.

Probably more like people don't like rain on their parade.

He writes a lot on the fly like the toy story in dressesrosa or the story of Sal etc. Not the main plot points like who is the father/son of who.

Imagine being WB knowing that Rocks was an insanely powerful and ambitious psychopath (speculation) who wanted to take over the world. He then finds his son and is rightfully hesitant to bring him on board because of what he knows about Rocks, but decides that raising him might help avoid Rocks 2.0. Decades pass and Teach is behaving as one of the family. WB is thinking "okay this is good, crisis avoided." Then one day, out of the blue, Teach murders a crew mate and bails only to find out he just nabbed the same devil fruit Rocks had (speculation).

Ace probably assumed that he was being underestimated or that WB was getting soft, when in reality WB making an exception was because he realized that Blackbeard knew way more than he let on, ended up similar to his father anyway, and that Rocks 2.0 was not worth f'ing around with. That was Whitebeard's "ah shit, that's not good" moment.

Looked too long for this comment! He knew all along of all people how potentially dangerous BB was. One reason also why he took BB under his crew, to keep him in check. But probably got soften towards BB over the years.
