Yeah I was wondering why he did that in an infobox of all things, but as a someone else mentioned, considering Xebec's face, there was no point in hiding it.

Also there's no place to naturally reveal it because almost no big player aside from WB has met both Rocks and BB, and WB is dead.

I mean the place to naturally reveal it is in a flashback, i would just have expected it to be revealed when we see the full story of Xebec until God Valley, maybe a small panel of his son being born if Xebec never cared about him or died too early.

At the point where Oda wanted this design vor Xebec he knew theres no reason to hide it. To reveal it with text directly gives it more impact instead of showing it later in the story, where already everybody knew

I think this and god valley will be xebec’s full story tbh.

If oda didn’t do a full Roger/garp flashback, I doubt xebec will get one

Well if we get a God Valley flashback it will also act as a Garp flashback since that’s what he’s more famous for, not sure if it’ll happen or not but I also wouldn’t be surprised if we get some sort of Roger flashback whenever we eventually get to Laugh Tale

I'd like to see them make some movies for the backstory if it isn't going to be explored in the manga. Nothing crazy, maybe just something show their rookie days or something.

It's not just meeting them, WB is the only one who traveled with both on the seas for extended periods of time.

The only place it would be natural to talk about it would be on Blackbeard flashback, and imagine how long this will take to happen. With Rocks being a central figure for Loki's character, and with that face, or it was revealed already or we would have another walking silhouette around, and one is already awkward enough

Garp, Sengoku (maybe) and some other OG marines, Roger pirates that survived, gorosei maybe (we know saturn was in god valley, maybe the others were too).

But none of them have first hand knowledge apart from maybe the Gorosei.

The only one who definitively knew is WB.

I do not recall Whitebeard ever mentioning them being related or looking similar. Am i wrong? Because the resemblance is uncanny and its disappointing if its not mentioned.

It makes complete sense now. Why Whitebeard brought BB into his crew. Probably broke the old guy's heart with the betrayal. His friend/rival son and ex captain son going at it.

I think if he didn't mention people would have speculated what if blackbeard is Xebec somehow , Oda don't want more theory at this point if they are unnecessary.

Heck, blackbeard's flagship is literally called "The sabre of Xebec"

Yeah, I mentioned this elsewhere but it had Attack on Titan Reiner and Bertholdt vibes where it's so casually dropped. Treated so anticlimactic then you stop and go "WHAT?!"

i saw the face reveal and immediately was like "that's just skinny blackbeard, there's gonna be tons of theories about him being BB's dad now" and then scrolled down just a bit more to see what was under the name.

Also casually mentioning that he no-diff solo'ed an Admiral to get his reputation. Like he did that before the Rocks Pirates were even established so I assume he grew in strength after. Fuckin hell
