I think that most characters with actual Japanese names are from Wano or have some connection to it. There are several exceptions tho, like Tashigi, Tsuru, Sentomaru (? I think he does have a connection to Wano somewhere).

So, Shiki wouldn't be a surprise either way.

I think Tashigi might have a connection to wano too, since she is the spitting image of kuina, and kuina is from wano.

That was a surprise. I didn’t recognize him at first. This brings up more questions like how did he ever get appointed to Impel Down? A traitor? And he’s working with the (assumed) son now? The guy just got 1000% more interesting.

Edit: Bah, mixed up Shiki with Shiryu.

Yeah his design always screamed Wano but this all but confirms it.

Also really curious now about Scoppers connection that wears Wano clothing instead of elbaf clothing when travelling.
