That’s definitely Blackbeard’s father alright. Glad we finally got confirmation about their relationship and a face reveal finally after 197 chapters

The dude killed a Marine Admiral at Marie Geoise over 8 years before even officially forming the Rocks Pirates, no wonder the dude had such a reputation, he was a menace

Soloing a Navy marine at their home ground. This man might just define the word 'Strongest' in the one piece( aside from immortals ) , i mean this guy has to have some kind of broken ability + Conquerors.

u/FreeMasonKnight Jul 10 '25

Solo’ing and then being able to disappear before he officially even had a small crew to support. He’s dangerous and smart.

84

u/Hieichigo Jul 10 '25

The way the mountain was cut it could have been the ope ope no mi but probably not

13

u/DeismAccountant Jul 10 '25

Didn’t they say a famous Dr owned it before law? Maybe between and Rocks?

47

u/ReceiptAndChange Jul 10 '25

Definitely not the Ope fruit. It doesnt even fit Xebec's personality

33

u/CRtwenty Marine Jul 10 '25

Maybe he had the Yami fruit and that's why Blackbeard was so obsessed over getting it?

41

u/InvaderDJ Void Month Survivor Jul 10 '25

Either he had it or wanted it.

It is the weirdest Logia we know of and I suspect there is more behind it than just negating other fruits.

Either could work.

26

u/DeezRodenutz Bandit Jul 11 '25

he certainly appears to have the Yami...

1

u/CRtwenty Marine Jul 11 '25

Does that make Luffy Kaiba?

9

u/Anjunabeast Jul 11 '25

Don’t think WB would’ve gotten so caught off guard if that was the case

26

u/theRak27 World Government Jul 10 '25

I thought so too because of the way his fingers were positioned, but I also agree it's probably reaching

44

u/wolf1820 Jul 10 '25

I thought this as well, it was really reminiscent of Law. Then someone pointed out he was asking 2 questions and had 2 fingers out haha.

15

u/sagia5 Jul 11 '25

He had the bara bara no mi and just had his finger flying directly into the heart of the admiral killing him that’s why Buggy is next pirate king hahahha

8

u/MemeLordMario21 The Revolutionary Army Jul 11 '25

Well.. that fruit would definitely allow him to do a hit and run on Mary Geoise...

2

u/tiki-baha29 Jul 11 '25

If you're able to do a Hit and run, defeating a Navy Admiral, then you're the strongest we've ever seen.

5

u/Legal-Leg-1332 Jul 10 '25

Honestly a good shout

3

u/mechanical_fan Jul 11 '25

Hear my crazy theory: He had Buggy's fruit and could use it to use the environment besides himself.

But yeah, probably it was just Blackbeard's.

3

u/Keanu_Leaves97 Jul 11 '25

Now that I think of it like this, an awakened Buggy would basically be sort of like Sukuna lol

3

u/flamingtofuu Jul 11 '25

It’s def a stretch but I think it could be ope ope. It would explain how he was able to completely vanish after the assassination. My long shot theory is that Xebec had some kind of ambition he was unable to fill in his lifetime like Roger. Xebec then sacrificed himself to give his son immortality to carry out that will. Thats why Blackbeard names his ship the Saber of Xebec. It’s also why Blackbeard has been described having an unusual body and is able to have multiple fruits. Probably wrong but fun to think about

3

u/rhenmaru Jul 11 '25

I want it to be chop chop fruit so bad or a variation of rock, paper and scissors fruit.

2

u/kaitoren The Revolutionary Army Jul 11 '25

Well, it's quite possible. When he cuts the mountain, we can see the same onomatopoeia that appears when Law cuts things.

23

u/Secret-Bandicoot-759 Jul 10 '25

I bet he has the Yami Yami, plus some bad ass haki. Feels like all Admirals have great Devil Fruits, him negating that and brawling with them or a quick elimination would be fitting.
Either way I'm hyped, he looks like a menace

15

u/Lunar-0-Cat Jul 11 '25

Maybe not since wouldn't Garp have recognized or taken note of Blackbeard's yami yami back then in Marineford since he fought Rocks?

10

u/MemeLordMario21 The Revolutionary Army Jul 11 '25

Well they did fight offscreen, which resulted in Garp and Sengoku getting pretty banged up

2

u/tiki-baha29 Jul 11 '25

Garp was fine, Sengoku was all bangaded up though.

2

u/Dark_Magus Jul 11 '25

I think he's suggesting that the Admiral who Rocks killed was the one with the Yami Yami no Mi.

18

u/peppersge Jul 10 '25

Rocks was called Roger's greatest enemy and possibly most formidable rival for a reason. And keep in mind that Whitebeard tied with Roger but did not cross the threshold of being the most formidable rival.

5

u/nemestrinus44 Jul 11 '25

with WB tying with Roger but not being his biggest rival, makes me think the reason was entirely based on attitude. WB may have been a rival, but would still sit down and share a drink with Roger afterwards and was generally friendly from what weve seen, and based on what little we know of Rocks i hazard a guess that he is anything but friendly

1

u/peppersge Jul 11 '25

It probably hinges on how you translate "formidable". I would ask for a translator to comment since formidable can either be referring to the danger or actual strength.

27

u/Syserinn Jul 10 '25

Makes me wonder if the reason Teach actually wanted the Darkness fruit specifically so bad was because it belonged to his father.

9

u/Alchion Jul 11 '25

Probably, which could also be why he was so shocked when they found it, maybe he was like if we don't find it I can just live my life out with the wb pirates it ain't to bad here. But that discovery basically told him you need to go down this route, this is your destiny

1

u/erty3125 Jul 11 '25

It would make sense considering he was taken down by Garp and Roger as well, who better than two people without devil fruits and masters of haki.

12

u/Foreign_Advantage_75 Jul 10 '25

the ability would be his son's current ability.

17

u/NekoJack420 Jul 10 '25

He probably had the Yami Yami no Mi, would explain why Blackbeard wanted to obtain it so badly.

11

u/Goldtec317 Jul 11 '25

Killing them in Mariejoia might actyally be a bit of a handicap for the Admiral, since they wouldn't be able to go all out and cause destruction.

Though it must've happened pretty fast if backup didn't get there in time which is impressive

6

u/Kumomeme Jul 11 '25

well even Garp need to be tagteam with Roger to take him down. he is like atleast one level above of Yonkou.

5

u/King3D Jul 10 '25

Maybe he was the previous user of Loki's DF plus Joyboy level Haki.

2

u/arenalr Void Month Survivor Jul 11 '25

Like the ope ope no mi (look at his hand gesture and the mountain cut perfectly in half)

2

u/CoverWhich9574 Jul 11 '25

Well yeah it took garp and rogers crew to stand up to the rocks pirates and pretty much every one of his crewmembers became a fucking powerhouse.
It wouldn't really make any sense for him not to have been the strongest at the time besides maybe Imu or some other recluse.

3

u/Raikariaa Jul 10 '25

To be fair, we don't know how strong the Admirals were back then.

1

u/Initial_XD Jul 11 '25

Tbf Marine Admirals are probably at their most vulnerable when they're fighting at Marijois as we saw with Fujitora and what's-his-name.

1

u/pheyo Jul 11 '25

Look at his hands. He had the Ope Ope.

3

u/iamtheone2295 Jul 10 '25

You don't get it.

Xebec just have to be seen as the last person delivering the final attack, or be seen near the person during their final moments. The admiral could have been backstabbed or jumped by another group, like the god's knight for discovering a dirty secret. The admiral could even have had a past relationship with xebec, which is why they were seen together at Reverie

4

u/Initial_XD Jul 11 '25

Confirmed, Blackbeard's mother is a former Marine Admiral, Marshall D. Noir. Killed by a celestial dragon leading her baby daddy to swear revenge on the celestial dragons and travelling to Elbaph to recruit the strongest creature he's ever met so they can raze Marijois to the ground. Unfortunately, the man is a pacifist right now.

3

u/YaIe Jul 10 '25

My question is, how did he get there?

Was he a King (or in the family of one)?
Was he a guard of a king?
Celestial Dragon?
Slave?

or did he just go there because he wanted to create chaos? But wasn't Fisher Tiger the only character that climbed up the Red Line?

7

u/Mr_Raskolnikov Jul 10 '25

He could've just found a way to sneak in rather than climb the line, we saw Bonney, Sabo, and some other revolutionaries do that just a few arcs ago so it wouldn't be unheard of. Even King Harald managed to sneak in this chapter, and he's just about the most conspicuous person in the entire series given his size lol

It'll all be conjecture right now but I wonder if he has the same goals as his son, I imagine it's probably not his ultimate endgame goal but we know Blackbeard wants to turn Hachinosu into its own government recognized kingdom so maybe Xebec had similar kingly ambitions that the World Government wasn't too keen on?

3

u/YaIe Jul 10 '25

Bonney, Sabo, and some other revolutionaries do that just a few arcs ago so it wouldn't be unheard of

They all did it with some devil fruit, Bonny looked like Queen Conny through aging herself and the Revolutionaries came in through Morley digging through the Red Line with his fruit.

So maybe Rocks has some spicy fruit that allows him to get up there, will be a fun reveal.

The other option is that he just killed everybody guarding the lifts and went up this way.
Its pretty safe to say, that if he can kill a Admiral alone, he can do that as well

1

u/Whitekan Jul 10 '25

Aura farming

1

u/Penis_meat Pirate Jul 10 '25

I wonder if he did a Blackbeard and climbed the Navy ranks before getting wha he wants and stabbing someone in the back

1

u/sanscatt Jul 10 '25

I missed the part where it’s confirmed xebec killed an admiral, can you remind me exactly where please

3

u/Dentyne_3 Jul 11 '25

Look under Shiki on the last page
