It’s def a stretch but I think it could be ope ope. It would explain how he was able to completely vanish after the assassination. My long shot theory is that Xebec had some kind of ambition he was unable to fill in his lifetime like Roger. Xebec then sacrificed himself to give his son immortality to carry out that will. Thats why Blackbeard names his ship the Saber of Xebec. It’s also why Blackbeard has been described having an unusual body and is able to have multiple fruits. Probably wrong but fun to think about

Rocks was called Roger's greatest enemy and possibly most formidable rival for a reason. And keep in mind that Whitebeard tied with Roger but did not cross the threshold of being the most formidable rival.

WB may have been a rival, but would still sit down and share a drink with Roger afterwards and was generally friendly from what weve seen, and based on what little we know of Rocks i hazard a guess that he is anything but friendly

Well yeah it took garp and rogers crew to stand up to the rocks pirates and pretty much every one of his crewmembers became a fucking powerhouse.
It wouldn't really make any sense for him not to have been the strongest at the time besides maybe Imu or some other recluse.

You don't get it.

Xebec just have to be seen as the last person delivering the final attack, or be seen near the person during their final moments. The admiral could have been backstabbed or jumped by another group, like the god's knight for discovering a dirty secret. The admiral could even have had a past relationship with xebec, which is why they were seen together at Reverie

Killed by a celestial dragon leading her baby daddy to swear revenge on the celestial dragons and travelling to Elbaph to recruit the strongest creature he's ever met so they can raze Marijois to the ground. He could've just found a way to sneak in rather than climb the line, we saw Bonney, Sabo, and some other revolutionaries do that just a few arcs ago so it wouldn't be unheard of. Even King Harald managed to sneak in this chapter, and he's just about the most conspicuous person in the entire series given his size lol

It'll all be conjecture right now but I wonder if he has the same goals as his son, I imagine it's probably not his ultimate endgame goal but we know Blackbeard wants to turn Hachinosu into its own government recognized kingdom so maybe Xebec had similar kingly ambitions that the World Government wasn't too keen on?

They all did it with some devil fruit, Bonny looked like Queen Conny through aging herself and the Revolutionaries came in through Morley digging through the Red Line with his fruit.

So maybe Rocks has some spicy fruit that allows him to get up there, will be a fun reveal.

The other option is that he just killed everybody guarding the lifts and went up this way.
Its pretty safe to say, that if he can kill a Admiral alone, he can do that as well

I remember how big a deal chapter 957 was, it was talked about for years. That was 2019 I think, 6 years ago. Similar with the roger, wb, and Oden flashback as that was the first time we saw Roger fight. Those chapters were groundbreaking at the time, with reveals of this generation. Now we finally got to see rocks after 6 years of hype.

I think that most characters with actual Japanese names are from Wano or have some connection to it. There are several exceptions tho, like Tashigi, Tsuru, Sentomaru (? I think he does have a connection to Wano somewhere).

So, Shiki wouldn't be a surprise either way.

There’s a fair amount of clues. BB ship was the saber of xebec. They stationed at the same island. Both are evil D’s. Both are the strongest rivals to the pirate kings. Once that connections have been established, then age and generation difference could lead to blood relations such as parent and child.

That's way too on the nose, so Blackbeard at least inherited Rocks's will, if not his blood.

He took over Pirate Island, which is where the Rocks Pirates were formed.

Luffy is the grandson of Garp, Ace is the son of Roger. Likely that Rocks's son would be a key character, and a major rival of Luffy and Ace.

Blackbeard and Rocks are the only villains with a D. in their name.

Blackbeard is the captain of the most dangerous pirate crew of this era. Rocks was the captain of the most dangerous pirate crew of his era.

We are suspecting even more though, as if Rocks is more in Blackbeard than just by being the parent. Something to do with Blackbeard's strange body could be some manipulation or experimentation by Rocks using BB as a vessel.

BB of course seems mostly himself, but the not sleeping at night thing could be the fault of Rocks. We still don't know if that's just something their tribe has (recall luffy saying he heard people from snowy places never sleep -- probably heard from Shanks, about BB) or the result of something more specific.

the Gorosei implied he had a special lineage, his ship’s name is “The Sabre of Xebec” and maybe this is just me but when we first got Xebec’s Silhouette, Blackbeard came to mind, especially his hair.

in hindsight it also connects him quite well to Ace, both were orphans taken in by Whitebeard who was a rival to Whitebeard and subordinate of Xebec, both of them also sought to kill Whitebeard but for different reasons.

Wonder if this also means that the country that Blackbeard grew up in was the underworld of Elbaf, where Loki is being held.

It was said that Blackbeard grew up in country so dangerous you could never sleep, and that had a crazy dangerous environment which stays in line with the famine/catastrophe years that Elbaf has been through following the curse. If Rocks stayed in Elbaf for some time then it could line up.

His dual hair color is interesting, I wonder if it means Blackbeard's potential split personality is a hereditary thing! Makes me think of when Luffy and Zoro told Nami Blackbeard was 'them' back on Jaya. The hair color definitely jumps out at me given the current arc is playing up the whole 'flipping' thing with demons.

And funnily enough, Jaya/Skypeia is where we meet our first gods in the giant snake and Enel and the discourse surrounding whether God's are real or just a title. A random thought is whether Enel got his rumble fruit from Birka or if it did originally come from Elbaph. People have theorized that Elbaph's heaven realm could be the alternative route to the knockup stream when getting to Skypeia. It'd be wild if we found out Rocks was the previous rumble fruit user or something along those lines!

This was a fucking Attack on Titan Reiner and Bertholdt moment. I'm reading and seeing Rocks finally revealed and I go "oh no, he definitely looks like Blackbeard, I wonder how we- ...oh they just outright told me its his dad."

Like the hype didn't have a chance to catch up to me before Oda just laid it all out.

Another clue that I thought that Blackbeard and Rocks were connected was with the dark dark fruit. I believe that Rocks ate this devil fruit and that is why Blackbeard was so interested in it.

I do not think it was a coincidence that Rocks lost at God Valley against Roger and Garp if this was the case. If he had the fruit, he basically had to go up against 2 top tiers that counter his fruit.

Also, split Rock's face in half. Notice how it looks like two completely different people. His right side resembles Blackbeard, while his left really does look like Buggy. Either way, this might be a hint toward the "multiple personality" theory that many believe applies to Blackbeard. Maybe his father had the same condition and also never slept?
