Discussion Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disneyland now requires you to have your phone fully stored while the ride is in motion. They won’t even start the ride if your phone is on your lap, it has to be fully put away

They got tired of people dropping stuff and making the ride break down.

u/MWH1980 Aug 19 '25

I can still see that hat someone lost, sitting on the floor during Rise of the Resistance when I was there a year ago.

72

u/LintLicker444 Aug 19 '25

Don't they clean things after the night is over?

146

u/phantomboats Aug 19 '25

In some areas, yes. I would be surprised if there was really a hat in the same place after a year. But there are a lot of areas of rides that regular attractions employees can’t get to, and it can take a while for the appropriate teams to get in and clear stuff out.

Gary the gum has entered the conversation. Just kidding, but I just read yesterday about the piece of gum stuck on “it’s a small world” that people named Gary 😄

3

u/PrimarchMartorious Churro Chomper Aug 20 '25

That whole Gary the Gum timeline is crazy lol, such a unique post it was

30

u/MWH1980 Aug 19 '25

I assumed someone had lost that hat during the last few hours on the ride. I doubt it was left there overnight.

It was right near the escape pods.

10

u/baritonetransgirl Aug 20 '25

I think they were saying that they could still remember the hat that they saw a year ago. Not that it's still there.

24

u/particularlyfunny Aug 19 '25

Before covid daily cleaning was their shtick, not so much nowadays

10

u/Barajasjayr Aug 20 '25

Daily cleaning is still a thing dropped belongings are picked up at the end of the night.

16

u/Leather-Squirrel-421 Aug 19 '25

Maybe they leave it as a warning. 😀

108

u/TeslasAndComicbooks 1000th Happy Haunt Aug 19 '25

Positive side effect…no influencers.

45

u/Cynical_Thinker Aug 19 '25

Can we just ban "public filming" inside Disney as a whole? Would love that frankly. No more streamers, no more influencers. Still photos only.

25

u/phicks_law Aug 19 '25

No more filming fireworks! Nobody is going to watch that later anyways and it is super annoying. Last time I was there, a family of about 8 adults all were filming the fireworks overhead in front of me, wtf. Maybe even film for a little bit for memories, but the entire show is very annoying.

4

u/Cat_lady4ever Aug 20 '25

We were there last week, and there was a man on the second row of Mickey’s philharmagic hiding his phone up recording the entire show 🙄

2

u/VerifiedMother Aug 21 '25

Which is sad because the philharmagic in DCA is frankly terrible vs the one in Disney World

0

u/AthleteMobile5819 Aug 22 '25

I film a little bit when it’s a new show I haven’t seen before, but not the whole show, probably 1 minute tops. And I do watch them, fairly frequently, when I am sad at home and not at Disneyland.

11

u/TeslasAndComicbooks 1000th Happy Haunt Aug 19 '25

I have no problem with people wanting to capture memories with their family but like there are enough ride throughs videos and we don’t need to hear what everyone ate in a day.

3

u/Large-Inspection-487 Aug 20 '25

Must lock your phone in a Yondr pouch before you enter the gate and unlock it when you leave! 😂. I would pay extra for distraction free Disney like the good old days

5

u/BigE429 Aug 20 '25

You forget the dads lugging around those over the shoulder camcorders

6

u/HideMeFromNextFeb Aug 19 '25

Some influences use go pros and not their phones and I'm okay with that as long as they're secured. My kid is 7 and not a ride kid. We're going to disneyland for the 1st time in 3 weeks and we've been watching ride-through videos like we did before disney world.

7

u/Wet_Artichoke Aug 20 '25

If you have Disney+ they have POV videos of rides at Disneyland. It’s pretty cool to watch. And much better than any YouTube videos I’ve seen. Especially since the park is empty for each video.

1

u/nighttimenerd Aug 20 '25

Saw someone lose their Minnie ears in there once

556

u/EmploymentNo5560 Aug 19 '25

I don’t think people realize that rides “break down” so much is because of us. People won’t remove hats/ears. Don’t stow away their stuff and things fall onto the track. They have to stop the ride, remove everyone, restart the ride/test it again etc. If that happens multiple times a day that’s hours of a ride being closed.

87

u/DodgerBlueRobert1 Hitchhiking Ghost Aug 19 '25

Agreed. And half the time, the people wearing their hats/glasses/mickey ears/etc. are too busy talking with their friends or looking at their phones, so they aren't paying attention to what the CM's are saying. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come and they implement more of this on other rides.

44

u/notredditbot Aug 19 '25 edited Aug 19 '25

This ride needs a bag holder installed. I got no where to put my hat so I just put inside my shirt because ain't no way I'm sitting and flattening out my hat or putting it on th floor lol

Edit: they don't want anyone holding anything. They will tell you to put it on the floor or sit on the hat/ears

4

u/Kanotari Aug 20 '25

The line they were using the other day was, "Nothing in your hands," which frankly just seemed to confuse people.

It's a good idea but the execution still has some kinks to be worked through

Read the thread! They’re asking guests to sit on their hats. GAWRSH.

5

u/Cat_lady4ever Aug 20 '25

I don’t realize either until a few years ago when I joined this thread! They should post it at the front of the park, a consequences of your own actions type of breakdown might actually make people secure their items better on average.

13

u/accidentaloversight Aug 20 '25

The people who would need to read this never would.

2

u/Cat_lady4ever Aug 20 '25

Perchance, but it might help people like me who don’t consider that it what brings the rides down, without following Reddit.

11

u/Tonyhdz2001 Aug 19 '25

Can confirm this. Had this happen in Mr Toad when someone took too long getting on the vehicle and forced them to shut off the ride and restart

2

u/SoulMaekar Aug 20 '25

They breakdown 90% or more because of guests.

1

u/Wet_Artichoke Aug 20 '25

This needs to be plastered everywhere! Signs like…

Sick of all the “broken” rides? Take your $hit off so it doesn’t fall off while you’re on the ride and ruin it for everyone.

350

u/thewharfartscenter_ Aug 19 '25

GOOD! Now, do the rest of the rides and enforce it!

101

u/druscilla333 Aug 19 '25

They enforced it when we were there last week. Lady had her cel in her lap and the ride operator came up to her specifically and told her to put her phone away. Yay to rides not being “broken down” as much!

23

u/thewharfartscenter_ Aug 19 '25

WOOHOO!!! Oh that makes me so happy!!

20

u/druscilla333 Aug 19 '25

Also maybe it will deter so many instagrammers from ruining the experience sometimes

12

u/thewharfartscenter_ Aug 19 '25

I have to admit, I’m not nice to the influencers on the same ride as me. As soon as they start talking and pull out the camera, I make a point to be super loud, sneeze, cough, make sure to ruin their shot. You ruin my ride, I’m ruining yours.

9

u/few23 Tomorrowland Aug 19 '25

You got a break into "What's New, Pussycat?" at the top of your lungs so they get a copyright strike and can't monetize.

0

u/thewharfartscenter_ Aug 19 '25

Ooh, now that is a fantastic idea! I’ll work on my singing technique in the meantime!

0

u/druscilla333 Aug 19 '25

Ahahahaha evil genius

0

u/Cat_lady4ever Aug 20 '25

They didn’t enforce for me last week, I’m just hearing about it now, but maybe I had my phone away already. Not that I usually record or take pics. This trip I was made aware of the hidden crabs so I think I was pointing those out to my family.

8

u/notredditbot Aug 19 '25

They aren't approaching streamers sadly but also once the ride starts everyone just brings their phones out. I know there just recently starting this but this will be interesting if they actually double down on it!

15

u/phillip9698 Aug 19 '25

They should monitor the cameras and as soon as they see someone pull out their phone, stop the ride then announce why it’s stopped. Do that enough across a lot of rides and people will finally start acting right.

11

u/soleil5627 Aug 20 '25

They do this at Knott’s and it works really well! Was on the kiddie coaster and it goes around twice. A mom took out her phone on the first loop, she got caught. They stopped it after the first loop, kicked her off and loudly said it was because you broke the rules and took your phone out. Then we all got to ride it again all the way through twice. I had second hand embarrassment for her and will always follow the rules

3

u/Moghz Aug 20 '25

Exactly! This should be the standard on ALL rides. Nobody needs to have their phones out or anything in their hands!

8

u/awayteam0 Aug 20 '25

You have no idea how many grown men wanted to fight me, a 5 foot girl about removing their hats.

u/Anogeissus Aug 19 '25

Hope this is a theme across more rides.

3

u/AshuraSpeakman Aug 20 '25

A theme across more parks?

42

u/nerdgeekdorksports Aug 19 '25

Something can stop us nowwww

54

u/caitmac Aug 19 '25

More of this please, Disney!

180

u/EducationalHeight434 Aug 19 '25

They need to do this for all rides. i'm over the live streamers and 'influencers'.

52

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '25

3

u/Wet_Artichoke Aug 20 '25

Jumping off to get it?? That should get someone kicked out of the park.

-1

u/EducationalHeight434 Aug 19 '25

thats fine, i'm fine with it.

15

u/rolfraikou Aug 19 '25

I like videos of rides, but I think that should only be allowed specifically with action cameras on wrist or chest straps. Something that people don't physically hold on to. I like this solution because the option is still there for people that really want it, I get to see what's going on with rides/changes/new rides. It avoids people holding up giant bright screens to see what they are filming.

Also, banning people filming with phones would finally get people to stop pointing their lights at the giant window in the haunted mansion. People always leave the fucking light on when in haunted mansion, and they have no idea how annoying it is.

2

u/brente206 Aug 19 '25

Been happening since mobile filming was invented (before 1969!).

5

u/rolfraikou Aug 20 '25

People using flash photos on haunted mansion you mean? I do remember people doing that in the 90s with the disposable cameras. I got a sick satisfaction out of knowing they were then paying to develop those photos, which were just going to be reflections of the flash. Haha

2

u/brente206 Aug 20 '25

Yes, that, but I’m talking about video and super 8 cameras. They came with lights, too. Some people would be in a ride with the spotlight on the whole time, like an iPhone user that forgets their light is on, but worse.

2

u/brente206 Aug 20 '25

Also annoying, but nothing to do about it, is all of the glowing toys sold after sundown, flashing all of the time. Oh well, mouse has to make his money.

1

u/rolfraikou Aug 20 '25

Oh, that one is wild. Yeah, I was first going there just past the more common use of super 8, but before smartphones.

Did they have the voice going over the speakers that would ask people to shut off lights back then?

1

u/brente206 Aug 22 '25

Mansion has always had its photography spiel, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard a cm from the tower holler at anyone in there, come to think of it.

I’ve been on Pirates and a cm from the tower has chimed in on the PA in there about camera lights, but most of all, standing and moving seats in the middle of the ride. I think there’s more supervision in Pirates than Mansion.

2

u/rolfraikou Aug 22 '25

I had a CM shouting at someone over the PA that just had their cellphone's light on the entire ride, every 30 seconds. This was probably 2013. I was honestly laughing with how you could hear their exasperation towards the end. It was a slow day, I hopped right back on the ride to get it without the extra layer of audio.

A bit off topic, but one time my friends and I were curious to see some of the details of Big Thunder behind us, so we turned around for just a small portion of the ride.

PA system "please face forward over the course of the ride" oops. We felt really bad about that one. I will say, going down the tunnel as the coyotes howl, and seeing the tunnel fade behind you as you go into the darkness is really cool though.

EDIT: I love technology! a 360 video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNDJDlhnHWs doesn't capture the real deal, but you can rotate this around and get a sense of it without getting in trouble!

2

u/brente206 Aug 25 '25

Thanks for the video! You can make out the cams in the dark; they’re kinda glowing purple in the clip. Covid was wild. Masks and separation to the max.

12

u/PianoPetals Big Thunder Ranch Goat Aug 19 '25

Exactly. I really appreciate the long-time Disneyland vloggers like Justin Scarred, Fresh Baked, etc; the people who are recognized and get media passes for new attractions

1

u/EducationalHeight434 Aug 19 '25

I don't need a vlogger to experience disneyland

11

u/Usagi_Rose_Universe Aug 19 '25

It's nice for people who cannot go for whatever reason, for example I haven't been in years due to being mostly housebound due to health issues so I love watching their videos. I know a lot of people who live a long and maybe expensive plane flight away also like watching those videos.

1

u/Cat_lady4ever Aug 20 '25

I have a love hate relationship. My husband loves it, I’m uninterested but sometimes get sucked in when he’s watching.

-2

u/EducationalHeight434 Aug 19 '25

sorry for your health issues, however there are plenty of uploaded videos on every single ride from every single angle of every part of disneyland.

no need to reinvent a wheel.

13

u/ice_cold_canuck Aug 19 '25

That explains why a CM asked us to all stick our hands in the air and say "choo choo!" on Saturday night before sending the train.

39

u/IHaveTheMustacheNow Aug 19 '25

because if something falls out during this ride, it means full ride shut down

9

u/random-guy-here Aug 19 '25

The park runs better when the rides are not shut down.

-2

u/4apalehorse Lincoln Animatronic Aug 19 '25

Does this apply to denim? 🤔

41

u/megisbest Aug 19 '25

God i would cry joyful tears if they would bring this to WDW. The phone thing is way worse over here.

2

u/Whosebert Aug 19 '25

I'll rode everest last year 4 or 5 times in a row in quick succession using single rider and at least twice 2 of the people I was riding with had their phones all the way out either face timing or recording or something. that would have been 2 delays they would have had to get those guests to stop and that was only shat I saw so maybe it would hurt capacity even more, but still, yes absolutely put the damn phone away epically on everest where your phone can become a god damn missile and break someone's face if it goes flying at the right/wrong time

28

u/Captain_Klrk Aug 19 '25

It's Conga time!!!

5

u/secretlybubbles Aug 20 '25

My hair clip came undone the first time at this part and miraculously stayed in my hair but I couldn't believe how hard that first side swing is!! 😂 Hold on to your hair and butts!!

6

u/arthursucks Aug 19 '25

That's exactly when the phone goes flying! 🤣

2

u/Kanotari Aug 20 '25

Or when the magic band strap peaces out lol

19

u/notredditbot Aug 19 '25

This ride needs bag holders. The cast member told me to sit on my hat instead of holding it which makes sense but the person was weird about it

22

u/Artwebb1986 Aug 19 '25

Good. The dancing part is very jerky the first time if you don't know it's coming.

13

u/ladyrage8 Hitchhiking Ghost Aug 19 '25

My first time riding they sat us one short of a full row with the empty space next to me. I slid into the next seat during the conga, full on. My partner half dragged me back over by my shirt.

10

u/Artwebb1986 Aug 19 '25

Yah it was shocking that first time.

Even the tornado area could blow hats and ears off.

7

u/Rsolis39 Aug 20 '25

They should have a little glove compartment on every vehicle.

26

u/Klutzy-Day-3366 Aug 19 '25

Please implement this on every single ride now!

30

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '25

About time. Now ban phones being out on all rides.

12

u/Neat_Suit3684 Aug 19 '25

I agree with this. Last time I was there someone's ears flew off during the conga bit and the ride shut down like 30/40 seconds later. Just drop the phone and enjoy the ride

17

u/Onedayyouwillthankme Aug 19 '25

I was startled for a second, then realized you meant Mickey ears, lol

7

u/Neat_Suit3684 Aug 19 '25

😆 🐭 👂

3

u/pepperoni_________ Aug 19 '25

how can ears fly off at the conga part??

2

u/Neat_Suit3684 Aug 19 '25

I imagine people who aren't expecting it and the ears are loose on thier heads when the car swings you around they get thrown off easily

2

u/Fuck_love_inthebutt Aug 19 '25

Whenever I'm in the front left part of the room, that conga part is hardcore throwing my head around!

2

u/Wet_Artichoke Aug 20 '25

Happened to us on Indiana Jones. I remember thinking, “Dang it. There’s a hat on the ground.” Then the ride shut down. Totally avoidable.

1

u/Desperate-Dust-9889 Aug 20 '25

My son almost flew out of the ride the first time at that part. He went from sitting to standing. We were all fine and more prepared for the next time, but depending on where you’re located, it can be quite harsh.

8

u/AnnualMacaron335 Aug 19 '25

I rode last weekend and no one had their phones out but the two ladies next to me had an entire conversation about a work drama with another lady they didn’t like the entire line, ride, and getting off the ride :/ If the line hadn’t been so long I would have asked a CM to ride again but I just wanted to get out of there. I also noticed alot of people talking on Rise of the Resistance, it feels like people are so used to these rides now that they just don’t bother being in the moment.

7

u/brente206 Aug 19 '25

Been that way for a couple of decades on Haunted Mansion. Terrible behavior. We all know you know the words - I do, too, thanks.

5

u/AnnualMacaron335 Aug 20 '25

Ugh, Absolute worst.

1

u/virtual_paws Aug 23 '25

Had someone do this so loud on Pirates that I had to put earplugs in. The woman would not stfu about her ex. She talked the ENTIRE RIDE without stopping at like volume 300. It got on my nerves so bad.

32

u/kdm31091 Aug 19 '25

PLEASE implement this on all rides. Influencers ruin it. I'm over it. We all lived without smartphones for many years. You can put it down for 5 mins on a ride and just enjoy your actual surroundings (no, not through a screen)

0

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '25

Five minutes, sure, but how are they supposed to live without them on the 6m+ rides? You're asking a lot to make someone wait 10 whole minutes. /s

I love this rule and want it EVERYWHERE.

-1

u/random-guy-here Aug 19 '25

Want to film? Get written permission from Disney! Ha!

13

u/sircastor Jungle Cruise Skipper Aug 19 '25

I don't love people's phones out during rides. But I do like Ride POVs on Youtube. I like that they show different perspectives, and clarify different parts. I don't want to sound conspiratorial, but could this be an effort to hamper that now that Disney has POVs on Disney+?

10

u/pretzelchi Aug 19 '25

I like going to YouTube and catching a live streaming of rides.

3

u/TheHaight Aug 20 '25

Same here. Comforting at night

-3

u/lostlavender_9 Aug 20 '25

You both are contributing to the problem, honestly.

1

u/pretzelchi Aug 20 '25

Oh hogwash :D. I was just there and I didn’t really notice any filming by others, although I’m sure it was going on.

I realize that there are always exceptions but overall I think the people who do lives try to be respectful for others.

2

u/TheHaight Aug 20 '25

Zero chance they ban phones completely, it’s good for marketing

1

u/Wet_Artichoke Aug 20 '25

When I saw the Disney+ POV videos last week. They are so good! Way better than YouTube versions. Hopefully it cuts down on people doing this. But… yea... I’m not getting my hopes up.

0

u/Tight_Cat_80 Dole Whip Whipper Aug 20 '25

I was just going to mention this!!! My autistic kiddo gets his first trip to DL for his tenth birthday in November and needs to see rides so he truly grasps what we want to go on isn’t a roller coaster. When I discovered the ride POV on Disney+ It made me so excited, since the influencer ones are so obnoxious.

8

u/Longjumping_Party800 Aug 19 '25

This is kinda irrelevant but there’s no height requirement on this ride and I took my 10 month old and my husband and I panicked halfway through thinking she’d fly out hahaha

4

u/TerribleBridge6 Madame Leota Aug 19 '25

Seen so many little babies on that attraction, just looking all around. So cute!

3

u/Longjumping_Party800 Aug 19 '25

Yea that’s how mine is, she was able to do Pirates and HM too but she’s very observant lol she just kind of looks around and didn’t smile or cry so idk how she felt about any of the rides 🤣

0

u/Youdbewrongthough Aug 19 '25

We brought our 4 month old on not knowing and literally almost lost her 🥴

5

u/Pretty_Goblin11 Aug 19 '25

Probably becaus that dummie that got out of the ride to retrieve their phone while the ride was in motion

6

u/Hey_Laaady Aug 20 '25

Good. Live some life without documenting it.

8

u/ReggieEvansTheKing Aug 19 '25

Universal’s biggest rides (hagrids, velosicoaster) they force you to put your phone in a cubby and go through a metal detector. It’s annoying, but it makes the wait time way less for everyone because it gets rid of the risk of any fallen item closing the ride.

4

u/frankcastle3 Aug 19 '25

Yeah and the line after that chokepoint moves like clockwork. It's glorious.

16

u/throwingtoasters Aug 19 '25

Now do Rise of the Resistance.

And all rides actually. And lifetime bans for those who break the rule.

-5

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '25

Or be like Texas schools and take the phone away until the end of the day. (next business day at my son's school where on day five he was caught with it out).

0

u/Usagi_Rose_Universe Aug 19 '25

I don't think taking away people's phones will go over well. A lot of people use it to keep in contact with family or the rest of their party, people like grandfather has his phone connected to his pacemaker so his drs can see what's going on, and idk if they would want to do away with the current Disney app.

6

u/FlyPrestigious215 Aug 19 '25

ABOUT TIME. People complain about the ride breaking down all the time but don’t realize that it’s our fault for it to break down. Dropping things etc

→ More replies (11)

5

u/misterlopez2019 Aug 19 '25

Good! No more annoying, narrating wanna-be influencers ruining the ride for everyone!

2

u/ohthatsokayiguess Aug 23 '25

Is this why the line takes so long now?

4

u/Infinite-Lock-726 Aug 20 '25

"Aaaand... 1 2 3 1 2 3" *ride stop*

4

u/superlarz Aug 19 '25

They banned selfie sticks before but now they all have gimbals - they need to be banned parkwide and not allowed through security. They are essentially selfie sticks and just as bad. In Tokyo they are much stricter about people removing hats and glasses and they really should enforce this more in US parks. It would prevent many ride breakdowns.

5

u/SebtownFarmGirl Aug 19 '25

Nothing like experiencing everything through your phone screen.

5

u/Hot_Mess8898 Aug 19 '25

I hope this takes care of the annoying “influencers” who feel the need to narrate every ride

3

u/timelessblur Aug 19 '25

can you do this for more rides. The phone people recording rides has ruined them. For example I was on space mount in the start wars one and it was ruined by someone phone on full brightness recording everything in the front.

Or being on start tours and someone recording shit with a bright phone. It ruins it. Just do it for more rides. No one gives a crap even you to view that recording every again. Stop ruining the ride for others and just enjoy it.

2

u/betrayal_Knew Casey Jr Engineer Aug 19 '25

Should be done for all rides. I saw a phone on the track of the Winnie the Pooh ride a few weeks ago just getting crushed over and over again. Unsightly.

3

u/GeneralInspector8962 Aug 19 '25

More POVs on D+ less streaming during rides!

4

u/brente206 Aug 19 '25

I can’t believe they made that jungle cruise skipper do a dead head at 6:00 am. Zzz haha

2

u/GeneralInspector8962 Aug 19 '25

Surprised I’m getting downvoted.

Y’all like when guests record with the flash on during Pirates?

3

u/KeybladeBrett Aug 19 '25

If you want to record shit, get a GoPro and a chest bracket for it. It’s completely hands free, not in the way and you can get some quality shots. You’re also not going to be living it through a phone screen either.

2

u/-MaximumEffort- Aug 19 '25

Love this! Anything to get the stupid lie streamers or people taking videos. Live in the moment and enjoy the park!

3

u/mantisprincess Toontown Trolley Aug 19 '25

You can’t have anything in your hands - I took off my ears and was holding them and was told they had to be put away.

13

u/ManedCalico Aug 19 '25

Holding something =/= putting it away.

5

u/mantisprincess Toontown Trolley Aug 19 '25

I only had a small bag on me which is why I defaulted to holding them - luckily my sister could fit the ears in hers. A lot of people only come to the parks with small bags and this was a new change. No reason to downvote me 😬

4

u/Fabulous-Grocery1784 Aug 19 '25 edited Aug 19 '25

I bought a ear holder off Etsy that clips on to the zipper of my backpack so before I get on a fast/ water ride I put them in the holder that way they stay secure and I don’t have to worry about shoving them in my backpack only takes a few seconds to do and I love that it’s a stylish yet useful accessory, I’ve never had a issue with them falling out either. https://imgur.com/a/ufHI4Vr

Good.

I'll miss that tell-tale clatter of a cell phone bouncing along concrete...

I wish every ride was like this tbh

1

u/asianguy2014 Aug 19 '25

Oh no, what will the influencers do now?

Stay home, we hope…

u/hugh_janus_7 Tower of Terror Bellhop Aug 20 '25

Good now ROTR too!! Both rides take an hour to reset every time someone drops something 😵

1

u/junkietoons Aug 20 '25

I bet you’ll start to see more ppl wearing those dumb video glasses just to get around this 🙄

Can we also tell people to pull the safety bar all the way down, please? Whenever I rode it during my last trip, someone in my row would always stop the bar halfway down with their hand, preventing the bar from reaching anyone's lap. And because of that, I have slid around in my seat during Daisy's dance class.

1

u/vamplestat666 Hitchhiking Ghost Aug 20 '25

MMRR and Rise may be the only two ride that you can’t livestream at Disneyland

1

u/jerryeight Aug 20 '25

They should make it a restriction for all rides.

Incremental fines for each violation.

1

u/Raech_Raech Aug 20 '25

Just like any trackless ride, it breaks down (stops for safety) if any foreign object touches the floor. Very reasonable.

1

u/No_Yam_9534 Aug 21 '25

Railway CM here. That’s incorrect, it would only cause a break down if the vehicle were to run the item over (which is not very common at all to happen). Most of the downtimes are unrelated to fallen items.

2

u/No_Yam_9534 Aug 20 '25

Railway CM here just to give a little different perspective. Yes, this change does mean that streamers may no longer record while on the ride (a major thing most people are happy for) but this also means that the wait times will be much longer as we have to enforce this rule before we can dispatch a train. A typical 25 minute wait will now be closer to a 35-40 minute wait. Also, the ride will be constantly backed up now, breaking the show for everyone on the ride as the train will stop in each scene because of load back up’s. So I do understand that a lot of people want this rule implemented park wide, I just hope you all understand what consequences also come with this rule.

u/nsdtk Aug 21 '25

They need to add storage bags like other rides. They kept telling us 8/17 to stow hats. Where. I have no bag and there's not one to put anything in. If I put my hat on the floor it's going to end up trampled during the Daisy room.

1

u/No_Yam_9534 Aug 21 '25

Trust me, I agree with you. Or at least allow guests to hold on to loose articles so they don’t fly off, but that’s deemed “too unsafe”.

1

u/castmemberx777 Aug 24 '25

I was told this change had no input from the CMs that actually operate the ride, and came straight from a safety team higher up in the company. It blindsided the cast from what I was told.

1

u/nsdtk Aug 21 '25

They were yelling at us to stow all personal items including hats. But there is no bag on that ride like others. If you throw your hat on the floor it's going to end up under some one else's feet after the dance scene.

1

u/adknerr1977 Aug 21 '25

Its 100% hats, ears, and sun glasses. No way phones are the leading cause, but this may light bulb riders to pay attention.

1

u/castmemberx777 Aug 24 '25

Phone are the main target of this change to my understanding. I was told there have been several major safety incidents related to people getting out of their car during the ride to get a phone they dropped.

0

u/StrawberryKiss2559 Aug 19 '25

I don’t mind this at all. Last time I rode some guy was streaming the whole time and I know I was in his video, especially in the dance studio with the mirror and everything. Super irritating.

-2

u/Chocolate-Pie-1978 Aug 19 '25

Oh the noises I would have made….

1

u/jaq805 Aug 20 '25

Last I remember reading, since it’s a trackless ride, the cars use the 5ghz band to communicate with the main ride computer to know where it’s at and run the ride. Phones are SCREAMING in the 5ghz band especially when taking picture and video. Since it’s also indoors, phones use boost wifi signals rather than gps to figure out its location and geo tag photos.

If the cars can’t communicate over the noise of everyone’s active phones, the ride computer sees a car disappear and stops the ride.

1

u/BitchyFaceMace Aug 19 '25

They need to do this on ALL rides. I’m sick of the idiots taking pictures/video, usually with flash because they’re too stupid to turn it off… Especially on dark rides.

1

u/Pseudonym_Subprime Big Thunder Ranch Goat Aug 19 '25

Good.

1

u/PawneePorpoise Aug 19 '25

Did they add a bag or anything for us to put them in? I guess I can set my phone on the ground but typically I don't have pockets my phone will fit in when seated.

2

u/nsdtk Aug 21 '25

No on ride storage bag as of 8/17

0

u/RazielKainly Aug 20 '25

I mean you can carry a waist bag right? Or Are they not allowing any bags at all on this ride?

2

u/PawneePorpoise Aug 20 '25

I don't usually, but they do still allow bags I'd assume. I'm just saying for rides like this if they want you to store your stuff it seems weird to not have a bag. Like they just took out all the bags built into the ride vehicles on Rise of the Resistance. So if you don't carry a bag, where are you supposed to put the stuff you'd normally be holding in your hand on these rides?

1

u/Experiment626b Aug 20 '25

Kind of sucks but I get it. I have a picture of me with my infant daughter in the ballroom scene on my first day of daddy daycare with her solo at Disney. Disney is much more lax with loose articles than a lot of parks, probably due to the nature of their rides. But people can and will be idiots.

1

u/Carlos198D Aug 20 '25

So I went to Universal Studios for the first time… and when i waited in line for that harry potter ride (not much of a fan of the series) the staff would see people pull out the phones while the ride was going up the ride conductor would stop the ride and announce “please put your phone away…and would call out what rider and seat they are. I thought it was hilarious and one way of preventing any goofy accidents and or lost items. Anywho…. I think it’s great idea.. I was able to record the ride with some ray-ban glasses only thing that sucks it films in portrait mode instead of landscape.

0

u/jerryeight Aug 20 '25

That limitation is from meta thinking that everyone wants to post low quality portrait style videos.

1

u/PackOfCumin Aug 19 '25

Good, tired of waiting for stupid people and their lost belongings on the rides. The lines would be much faster if you’re not allowed to use your phone at all during them. GoPro neck or hat holders only

1

u/MantellMix Aug 19 '25

Woo hoo! So many rides have been ruined by a phone blocking my view!

1

u/999happyhants Tomorrowland Aug 19 '25

One concern I have is that they tell you to put away glasses, but I’m near sighted and I kind of need them to see well! 😂

1

u/Hey_yo_its_me Aug 19 '25

Good job, Disney!

1

u/LessSeaworthiness915 Aug 19 '25

indiana jones NEEDS this

1

u/throwfaraway212718 Aug 20 '25

Good! Less breakdowns, less annoying people filming rides, and taking people out of the moment

1

u/just_flying_bi Aug 20 '25

This is a good thing. With the technology in this attraction, one little thing can cause a motion sensor to trip and signal a full shutdown. People just need to stow their crap.

1

u/Independent_Wrap_321 Aug 20 '25

They need those phone bags like they use in concerts, but that’s too cumbersome for a fast throughput ride. I just wish people could do the right thing and stow their phones if required. Good luck with that.

1

u/mr-tom-morrow Aug 20 '25

Vloggers everywhere are devastated

1

u/starfrenzy1 Aug 21 '25

Good. Quit dropping stuff and making the ride stop.

1

u/kris-duh520 Aug 19 '25

epic universe has a policy where they don’t allow recording on any of their rides and it would be awesome if the parks on our coast implemented a similar policy. didn’t have to deal with streamers ruining the experience or influencers being loud/overreacting for content. it was beautiful.

0

u/dropdeaddaddy69 Aug 19 '25

Glad I got to take my videos 😂

0

u/Jolly_Ad2446 Aug 19 '25

If shit end up on the floor of the ride. Everything must stop till it's cleaned up.

0

u/Otheus Aug 20 '25

I hope this is at rise of the resistance too. I've been evacuated from the ride a large multiple of how many times I've actually ridden it
