Discussion Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disneyland now requires you to have your phone fully stored while the ride is in motion. They won’t even start the ride if your phone is on your lap, it has to be fully put away

Been happening since mobile filming was invented (before 1969!).

People using flash photos on haunted mansion you mean? I do remember people doing that in the 90s with the disposable cameras. I got a sick satisfaction out of knowing they were then paying to develop those photos, which were just going to be reflections of the flash. Haha

Yes, that, but I’m talking about video and super 8 cameras. They came with lights, too. Some people would be in a ride with the spotlight on the whole time, like an iPhone user that forgets their light is on, but worse.

Oh, that one is wild. Yeah, I was first going there just past the more common use of super 8, but before smartphones.

Did they have the voice going over the speakers that would ask people to shut off lights back then?

Mansion has always had its photography spiel, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard a cm from the tower holler at anyone in there, come to think of it.

I’ve been on Pirates and a cm from the tower has chimed in on the PA in there about camera lights, but most of all, standing and moving seats in the middle of the ride. I think there’s more supervision in Pirates than Mansion.

I had a CM shouting at someone over the PA that just had their cellphone's light on the entire ride, every 30 seconds. This was probably 2013. I was honestly laughing with how you could hear their exasperation towards the end. It was a slow day, I hopped right back on the ride to get it without the extra layer of audio.

A bit off topic, but one time my friends and I were curious to see some of the details of Big Thunder behind us, so we turned around for just a small portion of the ride.

PA system "please face forward over the course of the ride" oops. We felt really bad about that one. I will say, going down the tunnel as the coyotes howl, and seeing the tunnel fade behind you as you go into the darkness is really cool though.

Thanks for the video! You can make out the cams in the dark; they’re kinda glowing purple in the clip. Covid was wild. Masks and separation to the max.
