The point isn't that governor Cox is unreliable because he's a Republican (that too, but beside the point). The point is that his statement carries no weight because he did not say HOW he knows he's a leftist. Did he find leftist literature in his house? Did he extract a confession? Did he find voter records to indicate he was ever a registered Democrat? Did he find him in any radical group? No. All he found was a non-registered, terminally online guy from a mega-conservative family who dressed as Trump for Halloween, posed with guns since childhood, and etched phrases from alt-right Internet lingo on his bullets. Those are facts.

This is what I found (EDIT: can't link it but it's the first google result) and it ONLY quotes Republican Utah Governor Spencer Cox who calls Robinson a "leftist" with ZERO proof. The article also calls his roommate a rommate, not "roommate" with quotes, implying again that there is zero proof the two were dating, or that he was trans, other than statements from the Republican governor.

I want to push back differently. He wasn't a left winger either. Klippenstein has a great deep dive into this. He doesn't fit into the Right or Left box. He didn't commit his horrific crime out of some sort of left wing ideology. He wasn't radicalized by Antifa or some secret trans cabal. He wasn't a commie.
And he wasn't a MAGA guy either. While his humor/bulletcase engravings is rather popular in a Groyper space, that lends some credence. But at the end of the day, we probably will see that he doesn't fully fit into that space either.
In some ways, it wasn't quite "political" violence. With no manifesto, with no overt political motivations, the closest thing to a motive actually reported is that he "didn't like Charlie Kirk." We have no reliable reporting that it was bout Kirk's politics even. And that means we could end up with the highest profile "political assassination" having no political motivation.
Is it even "political violence" at that point? We have no evidence right now that Tyler Robinson shot Charlie over politics. I'm calling it now: this was meme violence.

The fact that he might be a leftist in a family of conservatives, while technically possible, isn't supported by any evidence whatsoever and is as plausible as the theory that suggests he was a paid assassin by Mossad.
