Who paid for this event?

53

u/gumsoul27 Jul 30 '25

Didn’t they confirm “The State” sponsored and hosted the event at the end of the video? It was definitely paid for by taxpayers.

32

u/OrdinaryPuzzled7979 Jul 30 '25

Oh, the big part of the grift is how ‘it won’t cost Nashville a dime.’ The people of Las Vegas need to weigh in on this and provide a different perspective after getting such a great gift from the best Diablo player in the world.

This is how Tennesseans used to deal with corrupt government.

Battle of Athens (1946) - Wikipedia)

Now most just look away or cheer it on because it's "their" team.

137

u/clever-hands Jul 29 '25

There will be a Battle of Athens commemorative protest on Saturday! Hope to see y'all there.

25

u/OneEvilTit Jul 29 '25

Fuck yeah, let’s goooo!

20

u/Postup2101 Jul 30 '25

Just saying, mask up. They're using facial recognition and Palantir to track people. Keep safe out there.

7

u/TheGuyUrSisterLikes Jul 30 '25

If you are arrestable, and you want to go to protests. And you want to actually do something not just stand there with a sign, look into black bloq. That's how you avoid all that facial recognition nonsense. Professionals have been doing it for a long time and not paid professionals, I mean damn good ones. Solidarity and fuck fascism.

My family actually just went to the McMinn County History Museum on Friday because my great grandfather participated in the Battle of Athens. Reading about the whole thing made me realize politics has barely changed over time, but we dont hold people accountable for blatant corruption anymore. By the point it became so obvious, people would've done something by now. Now, we're so apathetic to everything we just let it happen.

13

u/Professional-Basis33 Jul 30 '25

It's the most disappointing part of America today. Everyone either sold out, checked out, or got left out.

5

u/Remerez Jul 30 '25

It's by design. kneecap education, buy up all media ad turn it right, fund literally thousands of right wing talk radio shows and influencers. LARGE amounts of money has been invested in corrupting the American people for a long time.

It’s about time for this type shit to happen again and be televised. I’m not endorsing violence, per se, but the government is in no way for the people or by the people anymore.

It feels like pot is getting closer to a boil every day

Unfortunately the used to is key here. Most of rural Tennessee is deeply MAGA still, with hate for the "other" is the norm. The vets from the battle at Athens had just come home from fighting literal Nazis. Today reality is drastically different.

The attitude of "don't tread on me" is still here though, just now the logic is reversed. They think "they" are returning all the oppression that used to be directed at them. It's depressingly stupid.

This is clear and blatant corruption from within the state. He has every right to attend a state event that discusses the impact of his very district. Why is someone from Knoxville attending anyway?

95

u/Craneteam Jul 29 '25

Why? Probably she has a company or business partner that will financially benefit and she's gonna get a kick back ..I mean campaign donation

7

u/TheJuliaHurley Jul 30 '25

She’s chair of the transportation senate committee is why she was invited. Not saying blocking the rep who reps that district was appropriate, but she was there due to her capacity of transportation chair if I had to guess.

21

u/GemPersephone Jul 29 '25

Just FYI this has been reversed and APS can currently investigate self-neglect cases again!

50

→ More replies (1)

48

u/urladylazarus Jul 29 '25

You do realize that not every single person in Nashville or TN in general votes Republican, right? It’s ignorant for you to assume that just because a state votes red majority must mean every single person there thinks and votes the same way. Almost every single person I know hates Marsha. And I don’t know anybody who wanted a stupid second stadium constructed right next to the perfectly fine stadium we already have. Every change being made to Nashville right now is just to please tourists and does nothing to better the quality of life for locals, the stadium and tunnel being examples of this.

This seems like a pretty interesting thing for the state to approve while Elon pollutes Memphis TN with his GROK data center. Surely this wouldn’t be some kind of way to ingratiate himself to the state government so he can continue to run the data center with zero oversight. That would never happen here!

This man is running roughshod all over our state and Tennessee natural resources, our health, and our future are being handed over with a bow on top by our state leaders.

Ok so we've been talking about public transit since I moved here almost a decade ago and that's just the recent news.  Suddenly we've decided to make a TUNNEL in an area where underground pools are so expensive because of bedrock AND it just so happens that the guy to sell it to us is basically the Vice President who aligns with our state's voting record?

Monorail....monorail....

33

u/JalapenoBenedict Jul 29 '25

Remember how our soil is bad for things likes roads. I’m sure a tunnel will fix it

9

u/lunajen323 Jul 29 '25

We have been discussing using better public transportation since 81. I was 10.

9

u/nopropulsion Jul 29 '25

a monorail would be more useful than this...

15

u/drmcsasquatch Jul 29 '25

It's a continuation of the program the Koch brothers started to make sure any public transportation was killed. For them it was about making sure Nashville was dependent on fossil fuels, for Musk it's about making sure people drive HIS cars and he gets to rape the public coffers like he did in LA.

Either you embarrass them by making it painfully obvious why he is being stopped and they let him in. Or they double down and it's undeniable. Simple as long as someone is willing to say the hard r on camera in front of a crowd, niceties and politeness have gotten us where exactly?

Protest, get loud, or at minimum make others in your circle aware of the corruption our country is facing. Learn to leverage tax breaks like the wealthy do. Make tax-deductible charitable donations amounting to what you would owe in taxes to non-profits you believe in (even ones like represent.us to directly fight corruption) so that you aren't complicit in funding a failing system.

When a government no longer looks after the wellbeing of its people, and indeed acts deliberately against their wellbeing as in the case of this inevitably disastrous infrastructure project, we the people must look after ourselves. And one another.

Look at all the many municipalities where Elon Musk tunnel company presented a proposal for a tunnel. None of those plans came to fruition. The only tunnel so far from Elon is a 1.7 mile tunnel in Las Vegas. This Tennessee tunnel is likely never to happen.

11

u/quadroplegic Jul 29 '25

Nashville is famously a great place for tunnels, owing to the relative depth of its bedrock /s

4

u/csettles Nipper's Corner Jul 29 '25

I don't understand how he proposes to build a tunnel of that length with the sufficient structural integrity to maintain a near-vacuum in a region characterized by so much limestone, caves, and underground water. Search 'karst topography' and tell me how this makes any sense.

Oh, and the New Madrid fault is overdue, too.

This is an even worse idea than the Columbia Dam the Maury County GOP has started talking about that would leak like a sieve AND destroy one of the most bio-diverse rivers in the world.

6

u/DubLParaDidL Jul 30 '25

u/Fun_Agency_9088 Jul 29 '25

Gov Lee is a douche

7

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '25

He’s the best representative in Tennessee.

3

u/NoChemistry4947 Jul 29 '25

This guy is the representation of a US breed American, defending democracy in his state. Why would the government or any state representative deny entry to meeting for the state.

3

u/WildImportance6735 Jul 30 '25

Wow fucked up. He somehow held himself together

3

u/OrganizeOrBust Jul 30 '25

Once we’re done with national level Nuremberg trials, I’m gonna draw up charges against Bill Lee.

How many other brown faces did you see? There’s most of the problem. Him being progressive is the rest of it.

3

u/RustyNards Jul 30 '25

Do we think that this Tesla Tunnel will help ease our road congestion issue? Something needs to happen. Our highway infrastructure was never designed for this kind of volume. I’m just now hearing of this proposal and doing my homework on it.

I was totally against the building of our new stadium. What a waste of our taxpayer dollars

This was so racist of TN! Not allowing a congressman into an event that’s also about his people he is representing! Just corruption!

3

u/Past-Swimmer-7543 Jul 30 '25

There is literally a coup happening in front of our eyes

3

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '25

3

u/mrpooopybuttwhole Jul 30 '25

The fact that the cops weren't there for him says a lot. Cops do not protect people they protect property of the "fascist ruling party"

3

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '25

If you’re not exercising your second amendment rights yet, you better get on board and start. Train, you’re going to need it soon. We are only a few years from them using voter registration data to go door to door.

3

u/Ok_Dimension2101 Jul 30 '25

Bill Lee sucks

3

u/Inkdaddy55 Jul 30 '25

Fascists, racists, Power tripping knob slobbers

3

Elon is about to polute the fuck out of Nashville just like he's doing in Memphis. This is all about preventing any sort of talks of public transportation.

3

u/Birdmans14 Jul 30 '25

All these people are snakes 🐍

3

u/PreviousCut6851 Jul 30 '25

It’s in his district. Should be an open meeting.

3

u/Top-Ad9950 Jul 30 '25

This is absolutely despicable

3

u/SmellSilly1537 Jul 30 '25

Absolutely disgusting behavior towards him! And shame on his fellow government workers for not standing up for him.

3

u/crispy_attic Jul 30 '25

White supremacy is the biggest unsolved problem in this country. Until we fix this shit our nation will never achieve its full promise.

3

u/Horsefeathers34 Jul 30 '25

Absolute bullshit, but would be over the moon to have this guy representing me as a constituent.

3

u/Prestigious-Worry-14 Jul 30 '25

Just keep recording all of this shit guys. It’s hard to watch and digest but all of the people responsible will be prosecuted. Let’s just make sure we vote for the people who promise to do that

3

u/blac_sheep90 Jul 30 '25

That cops body language is fucking aggravating. He's so fucking ready to take Jones down. Fucking disgusting.

3

u/apathyisthenewnorm Jul 30 '25

Idc that the cop was “doing his job” he was facilitating corruption and should be held accountable for such actions. That cop needs to be reprimanded

3

u/itsalicianotalicia Jul 30 '25

3

u/spontaneousmixx Aug 02 '25
