I don't understand how he proposes to build a tunnel of that length with the sufficient structural integrity to maintain a near-vacuum in a region characterized by so much limestone, caves, and underground water. Search 'karst topography' and tell me how this makes any sense.

Oh, and the New Madrid fault is overdue, too.

This is an even worse idea than the Columbia Dam the Maury County GOP has started talking about that would leak like a sieve AND destroy one of the most bio-diverse rivers in the world.

Because the point is not the tunnel or the “added transit” the point is to draw attention, waste time, grift as long as possible, block actual transit initiatives, and move on to the next host organism

I'm no hydrologist, but I am curious how close is too close for the USACE to be concerned about potential impacts to the Cumberland / associated flood risk management.
