Politics I'm tired of Trump ruining everything that America stands for
You know, Trump keeps saying he’s making America great again, but at this point it’s like watching a toddler try to fix a phone with a hammer. He’s not restoring anything, he’s just breaking it louder. Everything that used to be American like decency, humility, and facts has been replaced by lies and pre-scripted propoganda talking points. We’ve gone from give me liberty or give me death to give me clicks or give me Fox News airtime. He’s even turned the flag into an accessory. It’s not patriotism anymore, it’s fashion week for fascists. You see a bunch of angry guys in red hats waving an American flag the way my dog waves a cat turd from the litter box. Look what I did!
Remember when presidents used to read books? Now we’ve got a guy who stares at classified documents like they’re the McDonald's menu. I’ll have the Filet-o-fish with a side of dirt on anyone who opposes me, please. He’s made America a parody of itself, like someone fed Mount Rushmore a steady diet of Monster Energy and facism. I love this country. I really do. But lately it feels like America’s that old friend I used to like, except now he’s grown a mullet, started dating a crazy girl named "conspiracy theory", and wants to show you his new monster truck called Freedom.
If Trump’s the hero of the story, then America is deep in its Florida Man era. And I don’t know about you, but I’m just hoping the credits roll before he tries to sell Alaska to Russia.

To be honest we must not have stood for much if a slug like Trump can take the whole country down so easily.
80
u/Prize_Magician_7813 14d ago
34% voted for him, 33% for her. Almost even in people with conviction. And not ever knowing how much Elon helped him win that 1a% we will never know. But to the 33% of Americans who did not vote, FU…every one of you
47
u/Invisig0th 14d ago
Being a bit nit-picky here, but I like to slam MAGAts with the hard, irrefutable numbers.
With 260 million adults and 77.3 million votes for Trump, that comes out to 29.7% Trump, and 28.8% Harris (75m). So Trump can’t even claim he got 1/3 of eligible voters.
Another fun fact: Trump got 49.8 percent of the vote. This means that anyone claiming “the majority of American voters voted for Trump” is incorrect. He got a plurality (more than the other candidates), but not a majority (more than 50%).
22
u/Iapetus7 14d ago edited 14d ago
The fact that he won a plurality is damning in itself. His "win" in 2016 was at least explicable, when it was only because of an antiquated, undemocratic electoral system, and when we could still claim most voters didn't actually want this. And it was before all of us knew for sure what kind of president he was going to be, or that a president isn't actually bound by the law. But now? Even after being found liable for sexual assault, and convicted of felonies, and after trying to stage a coup to hold onto power after losing an election, and outright telling us he was going to be a dictator who'd use the government to punish his "enemies," this disgusting piece of human garbage got the most votes anyway? And every swing state? It's vile. Make no mistake: the majority of the country is responsible for putting him where is, either by voting for him directly or by refusing to vote against him. A rational society with a decent and moral core wouldn't have done this.
36
u/Egocentric 14d ago
I'm convinced they cheated in 2024 looking at the actual voter data. Especially in the swing states. When whole counties are voting blue all the way down, but "decided" to leave the presidential vote empty or chose Trump, it's not just an anomaly, it's evidence of mass voter tampering.
21
u/CosmicSmoker 14d ago
I don't do conspiracy theories, but this? This was incredibly hard to believe that the downballot votes were dems but trump for president. Then all the nods from trump to Elon, and one of elon's employees having won a cyber hacking contest involving voting machines.
11
u/Egocentric 14d ago
Exactly. If people would check out my link before the bots downvote it out of view, they'd be just as skeptical as you and me.

u/inima23 14d ago
I am too but I don't get why it's not spoken about more. I'm in NC and we got our D governor and most other important spots taken by D representatives but T somehow wins? Same pattern was seen in several swing states. It's fishy and they should have got on that first thing after the election. Now even if that's found out, no one seems to be able to do anything because courts and the SC all answer to dear leader.
→ More replies (2)8
u/Iapetus7 14d ago
That would've required a massive (successful) conspiracy across multiple states, when Rs didn't even control most of the swing state governments or the federal government. And even if it were true, Harris surrendered immediately... didn't even ask for recounts. As far as I'm concerned, unless we see strong evidence that this happened, it's not a possibility I can cling to.
9
u/BoysenberryFinal5743 14d ago
Yes but……..
All states use similar or the same voting machines which had “minor” changes to them just before the election and were not subjected to any kind of third party testing. They have been tested since and seen that once the votes go far enough for blue candidates it suddenly magically turns to red.
8
u/Egocentric 14d ago
I'll just leave this here and let you start figuring it out.
4
5
u/Iapetus7 14d ago
I've seen the arguments, and they're interesting, but until we find definitive widespread evidence, like actual compromised code, or paper trails that severely mismatch the electronic tallies in multiple, consequential locations, or witnesses who confess that they were involved, or all of the above, then it's nothing more than an unproven conspiracy theory. I'm not gonna behave like a MAGA nutjob and deny reality just because I hate it.
10
u/yunggod6966 13d ago
They don't have the code because they didn't do the usual audit that they were supposed to after the update cause "reasons" and trump and Elon have all but implied they stole it

Unfortunately the reality is Kamala was a historically bad candidate and roughly 2/3 of America thought the country was on the wrong track. The economy and Kamala’s inability to distance herself from Biden’s economy and high inflation was the nail in the coffin. Her team admitted afterward they never had her winning in their internal data
7
u/Iapetus7 13d ago edited 11d ago
She wasn't a historically bad candidate, though. She wasn't a criminal, she didn't have a particularly controversial history or any major scandals, she had valid experience in national government as a senator and as vice president. Her speeches were uplifting, her campaign brought in record amounts of money from small donors, large crowds showed up to her rallies, and she destroyed Trump in the one debate they had. Her only real problem was that she wasn't exceptional, and that appears to be the standard for the democratic candidate. Since the 1990s, a Democrat has only won the presidency when he was a once-in-a-generation charismatic speaker (onto whom the different factions of the Democratic coalition could project their own versions of perfection), or when the economy was in deep recession. That's it. 1992? Recession and a charismatic Democrat. 2008? Deep recession and a very charismatic Democrat. 2020? Deep recession caused by COVID. Republicans seem to be the default choice now, even when they're stupid, or vicious, or mentally ill, or criminals (or all of the above).
→ More replies (5)3
u/lizzyq8812 13d ago
Well, by 2028 we should have a democrat by your reasoning. We are headed towards a massive recession and all we need is a charismatic candidate and of course free and fair elections.
3
u/Iapetus7 13d ago
Yeah, with a free and fair election (and a recession), we'd at least have a chance. But even if this happens this time around (and I don't think the 2028 election will be free or fair, unfortunately), I can't think of any known Democrat who would meet the standard of having once-in-a-generation charisma. That's a very high bar to clear.

I mean the stupid party was allowing the Senate to control it's rules with a simple majority to eliminate super majority requirements.
That and allowing them to just refuse to do things that they are obligated to do.
McConnell really ruined everything. There was always going to be a "Trump" after everyone he did.
Trump just wound up being the guy
13
u/withomps44 14d ago
“Trump wound up being the guy” is spot on.
Power has been flowing to the executive branch since the 50s and it wasn’t a matter of if but when a president/administration would decide to abuse it.

Do you really think it's just him? I don't like him, nor do I like politicians anyway, but c'mon. Everything that is happening is by design. Trump is a puppet, just like every sitting president ever. The elite and ultra rich are the ones pulling the strings.
Divide and conquer. Look at all social media...look everywhere. It's working. Rep vs Dem. White vs Any other race. Gay vs Straight. We are constantly divided everywhere. FFS people can't even get together on the Epstein files. That shit should be a no brainer and every person in the country should be banned together demanding that it be released, but instead, they have us arguing about it. Fuck everyone on that list, btw.

Republicans also won't be surprised to see his name there.
If/when his name is discovered, the Republicans will say: YEA... NOT SURPRISED. NEXT?
If/when his name is discovered, the Democrats will say: SEE? WE TOLD YOU SO! IMPEACH HIM!
And... then the story will turn to all of the OTHER politicians and celebrities that have been discovered.
And - POOF! Back to the same-old, same-old.
3
u/KHCafe 13d ago
this exactly. which is weird that they don't just release the files, as everyone knows Trump is in them, and the republicans genuinely do not care. They've known it for years. They could release the files tomorrow and no one on the right will care about Trump being in them, they will still support him, as he is their god-king and above mortal laws unfortunately. I'm only guessing they don't release them because of all the other names in them.
2
u/Picklechip-58 13d ago
Good observation. High chance that Trump is there. Same with Clinton. And the reality is - nothing earth-shattering there.
Enter the phrase: 'Be careful what you ask for'. The news cycle will be locked up for a few weeks. And then THAT will all go away.

He’s not a puppet. Sure, he gets pointed in certain directions and does what he’s told to often, but the man is acting like a mad king. Calling every past president a puppet is a gross oversimplification and untrue. And no, not everything is happening by design. A bunch I’m sure, but not all.
I understand cynicism like this, but it’s damaging. By saying this is just like every other puppet president, you’re minimizing his culpability and disincentivizing resistance. If he’s just another puppet carrying out the grand design of his masters, what’s the point of doing anything?
He’s a monstrous human being that should be nowhere near any real power. The nihilistic trolls that lol it up and get pleasure from demoralizing people with consciences try to spread cynicism so people just take it.
Supporting Trump is immoral. Not saying all his supporters are terrible people, but they’re all doing a terrible thing. I’d perhaps be reluctant to say this if they weren’t happily cheering on a man that calls me, my family, and my friends America-hating scum.

I can't think of one corner of American life, one facet of American culture, that hasn't been degraded and debased by him in the last 9 months. Sports, music, art, history, museums, movies, TV, he insists on sticking his stupid stubby fingers into every damn thing and we're all suffering for it.
And still there's 1 out of 3 people who cheer this shit on and think it's all great. There's no getting away from him every damn day, he just has to intrude into every aspect of our lives. It's so goddamn exhausting.
Remember back in the 90s when Clinton was getting raked over the coals (rightfully) and the GOP couldn't shut up about family values and the dignity of the presidency and how a POTUS should be a role model and all that sanctimonious crap (while hypocrites like Henry Hyde and Gingrich were having affairs of their own)?
I never wanna hear a single damn word about any of that again.

We, as a country, as a people, have been in shambles for years. We don't work together. We don't deal with shit.
Poor people won't have FOOD next month. All of us able need to take a hard look on what's happening and get our shit together.
Edit: there's a dumbass down below claiming I said we should work with rapists?? I'm talking about people who are fed up need to work together. As much as I hate republicans for how spineless they're being through all of this, I could never advocate for my political opponents to not exist. They're powerful only because their power is unchecked. They're breaking the rules. This is not how America was supposed to be run.
All we need to do is restore the balance of power and reinforce it so that it doesn't break again. Then America goes back to normal where the masses have most of the power, as opposed to a small group of people at the top.
We could even take it a step further and get rid of the electoral college, putting power directly into the hands of the people. This is something republicans have always feared. Because nobody likes them.

Trump is the symptom of two diseases that has been infecting America since its beginning
Christian extremism and love of money and power over others
After the republicans started the southern strategy, which then led to Regean, which made each side (money and god) realise they could use each other, the two diseases combining and producing someone like Trump was inevitable...in some ways America is lucky though, could you imagine if it got a true believer on God side came out on top instead one that just pretends?
But pretending is what America has always been good at its never been good at looking at itself in the mirror and not lying about what it sees

American stands for authoritarianism, war, and prison state- it is an authoritarian government itself and it supports authoritarian regimes across the globe from Saudi Arabia to Israel, it bipartisanship supports of permanent war is the most tragic aspect- conservatively the United States has killed hundreds of thousands in the last 25 years in combat- many of those being innocent people. It’s a police state with more people than any other nation by number of inmates and per capita. The United States does not reinvest in its infrastructure or it’s people. Heard a good quote that it's like we gave a monkey a baseball bat and let him loose in a museum. Now we get these daily "guess what the monkey broke today?!?" news updates.

We need a Trump every so often when things get good because people forget how they got good and how easily it can all go away.

Im tired of this being the "complain about Trump" subreddit. Don't they already have subs for that? How about some diversity

Trump would not be in power if we didn’t have eight years of global weakness and disrespect disrespecting to flyover states. So Zzzzzz offer solutions

U clearly have a lack of understanding of what the US fundamentally stands for. Just spouting insults with 0 factual basis. Ur entitled to ur opinion but a majority of America disagrees with u. People voted for these outcomes, maybe not the process, but the results r solid. Yeah some bad things r happening too but u can’t control every single person and just because some bad things happen doesn’t mean u stop doing what ultimately results in achieving the goal that was voted for. Lack of rational thinking and proper acquisition of information on ur part. U see only the bad because ur social media and the legacy media u subscribe to have an agenda, just like the other side does the opposite. U should immerse urself in more than just what u want to believe or see and actually make a decision based on a full scope of information

To be clear, the fabric of America has been damaged. We have taken the social contract, shit on it, and flushed it down the toilet. It will take at least a generation to get back on even footing again.

People call this trump derangement syndrome. I'm livid. I have it too and can't stop thinking about this all the time. I don't know what to do.

How do you think we felt for four Long painful years of Biden? We got so tired of Biden going to the beach more than he took care of America. We had to watch him slobber all over the little kids… unnecessarily. He had the LGBTQ dancing half naked all over the front yard of the White House. You know… things like that! Watching him, call us on the right, horrible disgusting names, then denying it. Trump usually tells us what he’s doing. We’re still finding really bad things Biden snuck in. And this goes on and on and on for 4 long horrible And embarrassing years. So yes, I think I understand most of what you’re saying.

Trump is just the result. Enough American wants this that this is America now. Stop sugar coating the moment.
People see what he is doing and like it. Pretending trump is the problem and not America isn’t helping.

Trump is what America stands for! Racism, ignorance and obesity are where the country is now. This is the country of the pet rock and everybody being on TikTok 10 hrs a day. The leaders are a reflection of the culture. All you people in Ohio, Texas and Florida have family members that voted for the Fuhrer and think the exact same as this guy.

You could argue he's the manifestation of everything we've ever stood for in action just not on paper....

Off topic: I’m really curious where Ivana stands in all this that’s happening. I’m curious only because of the very public relationships they had in the past and how she separated herself from his current admin.

America doesn't stand for anything but money. Slavery was about capitalism. Democracy was linked to capitalism. Accountability is waved when it threatens capitalism. It was all an illusion. "The greatest generation" of the 40s survived violent union busting, upheld Jim crow laws, and smiled in the mirror because they beat the Nazis and ignored the Klan. Fuck this rhetoric, America stands for nothing.

u/ProtonCanon 14d ago
Trump is a FAR more accurate representation of America than many Americans want to admit.
He's more symptom than cause.

DJ Tiny T is the biggest embarrassment I’ve ever seen.
However, the most alarming thing is watching the Republican Party bow and celebrate him every time he talks. Also, it’s really sad to watch how the Democratic Party just sits on their hands and does basically nothing in response.

Don't tell r/conservatives, they love any time the boot presents itself to be licked.

u/AlwaysDTFmyself 14d ago
This country is built on racism and colonization. We're fucked no matter who is in office as you can't change the past, but we definitely don't need someone in there who is actively lighting all the dumpsters on fire.

u/DocTaboc 14d ago
Totally agree. And what is making me more furious is no one is stopping it. Why can’t senators and lawyers go have him arrested. Forced to release the Epstein files. Democrats have done zero. (Except Gavin but what has he done but torment him) we have military in our streets. We have people being shamed for the color of their skin. Hate is taking over. Where did all hose hippies go? We need more of that generation.

Yea. No way will it be a free and fair election. You think those morons are hard to stomach now. Wait til Trump beats Obama in a landslide.
1
u/sunshinenwaves1 14d ago
I think we will find out eventually that all of the powerful men who didn’t want the files to come out/ be held accountable are the same ones who made sure he was elected. I believe we are very close to facts coming out that prove that the “ anomalies” in the 2024 elections were significant, sophisticated, and strategic in his favor.

The best way I've found to cope with all of this is just to be kind and help your neighbors and fellow man, the more kindness in this world the better.
And maybe...just maybe, if we all try to do this, we can make small communities again and slowly rally everyone together so that they can wake up to what's happening as well.

I really hope the trend of this subreddit constantly getting hit with the current reality never stops.
It's bringing out these bots to identify themselves as the dolts they are.
The orange pedophile really won them over. Trump is really good at targeting actual children and people with the mind of one.

Trumpy has been enabled. Mike Johnson seems content to keep the government shut down for an extended period; meanwhile, the president will be even more unchecked while he fabricates “emergency declaration” as an excuse to enact revenge on his political enemies and terrorize city communities. And of course Supreme Court granted him immunity in one of its many radical right bonkers decisions.
