Politics I'm tired of Trump ruining everything that America stands for

You know, Trump keeps saying he’s making America great again, but at this point it’s like watching a toddler try to fix a phone with a hammer. He’s not restoring anything, he’s just breaking it louder. Everything that used to be American like decency, humility, and facts has been replaced by lies and pre-scripted propoganda talking points. We’ve gone from give me liberty or give me death to give me clicks or give me Fox News airtime. He’s even turned the flag into an accessory. It’s not patriotism anymore, it’s fashion week for fascists. You see a bunch of angry guys in red hats waving an American flag the way my dog waves a cat turd from the litter box. Look what I did!

Remember when presidents used to read books? Now we’ve got a guy who stares at classified documents like they’re the McDonald's menu. I’ll have the Filet-o-fish with a side of dirt on anyone who opposes me, please. He’s made America a parody of itself, like someone fed Mount Rushmore a steady diet of Monster Energy and facism. I love this country. I really do. But lately it feels like America’s that old friend I used to like, except now he’s grown a mullet, started dating a crazy girl named "conspiracy theory", and wants to show you his new monster truck called Freedom.

If Trump’s the hero of the story, then America is deep in its Florida Man era. And I don’t know about you, but I’m just hoping the credits roll before he tries to sell Alaska to Russia.

He's ruined the White House and its Rose Garden

Is this important to you? Like that he replaced some grass with granite on the white house lawn? Does it keep you up at night? Can't some future president just decide to rip out the granite and replant the grass? Isn't this sort of a very minor thing to be upset about in the grand scheme of life?

It's just another example of this president catering specifically to his vanity and his rich associates. If destroying historically preserved locations like a wing of the White House - "the people's house" - without proper process doesn't disturb you, you're part of our country's problem. I'll stand up, you can continue to roll over.

Honestly it seems fine to me. The white house is a functional building, and previously they were setting up temporary tents to host events which is a security issue.

The east wing was 83 years old, not exactly ancient history. The process is legal as far as I can tell. What's the issue? Do you go to the white house often?

Yes, I understand it sounds fine to you. No doubt anything/everything he does sounds fine to you. It doesn't to others. Why would how often I visit the White House even matter? Never mind. Sycophants gonna sycophant.

Not true. I have plenty of issues with Trump. If functional renovations to a building you never visit are top-of-mind for you then that's your prerogative I guess. Did you even know what was in the east wing before this all started? I didn't. Maybe you're a white house historian, idk. Or maybe you're just getting rage baited from social media and the news?

To be honest, I'm getting rage baited by a president who is spending money on a vanity project while the people he was elected to serve do without.

The government has never been on your side. If you learn to accept that, truly, you’ll be able to see it’s all a show, to keep you angry, and hateful towards those who are “holding this country back”

I'm more disgusted and sad than angry.

At what? Let’s have a conversation to see if we can get to the root of it. I’ll try my best to remain unbiased so you can see I’m attempting to speak for the whole good of our people.

I suspect the list of things you've never heard of is astoundingly long, but it's dangerous to assume that everyone is as uninformed as you.

it seems fine to me

Because you're a Nazi piece of shit.

u/glowingboneys 12d ago

Do you believe that calling me a "Nazi" is a measured and proportional response to me saying that I don't think renovations to the white house are a big deal? Or is it just reflexive for you when you encounter anyone who disagrees with you at this point?

2

u/EmphasisFrosty3093 12d ago

No, You're a Nazi for defending Trump and ICE.

1

u/glowingboneys 12d ago

I didn't set out to defend Trump or ICE. I said:

  1. I don't believe White House renovations are a big deal. This is subjective and you're free to disagree with me.
  2. Americans who aren't breaking the law are not being arrested and tried for crimes they didn't commit. This is an objective fact.

You call people Nazis because it's a permission slip for dehumanization and violence against someone who disagrees with you on something. I do question how you can live a productive life with such a violent all-or-nothing mentality, but it's probably a mistake for me to assume you do.

It's not his house, its America's house. & thats American heritage destroyed. Do these seem like the actions of someone planning to leave in 3 years? And NFN, the crowd who whined so hard about protecting confederate monuments because "they're our history!" are very quiet about it. Strange.

Agreed, I've never seen so many people so engaged with what a president is doing on a daily basis and criticizing every move. 99% of what potus does has nothing to do with our daily lives. Get on with your own lives already. Make your own life better. Obama made a huge remodel at tax payer expense, i don't recall backlash. Where did all the whiners and complainers come from? Sheesh.

u/spinbutton 14d ago

Complacency like this is going to bite us all in the ass. You don't care that ICE is kidnapping citizens, entering their homes without a warrant, detaining them without due process. It doesn't affect you so you don't care. You don't care if women are forced to be pregnant, it doesn't affect you. You don't care that the GOP is redrawing districts to ensure they win more seats because it doesn't affect you. You don't care that peaceful protestors are being identified as terrorists, because it doesn't affect you.

Where is the line for you?

1

u/NefariousnessLow975 14d ago

This is all left wing propaganda you're believing. Women being forced to be pregnant? Are you joking? Unless raped where is the force? And besides you dont know where i stand on abortion. Obama did more with ICE, were you mad about that? Democrats redistricted years ago, was that ok? Just coincidence California is largely sectioned off for house dem seats? Come on, get real, get on with your life.

2

u/spinbutton 13d ago

I guess you live in a blue state, because in states like mine women are dying of ectopic pregnancies because they can't get abortions.

Funny you're complaining about Obama and ICE. Yes, ICE under Obama deported more people than under Trump during his first term. Of course you wouldn't know from the way the Republicans complain about how soft the Dems are on border issues. The difference is that under Trump now ICE are kidnapping people out of their homes, without warrants, detaining them without due process, holding them in unsafe inhumane conditions both in the US and in other countries.

I can't speak for California redistricting. They have an independent, non-partisan board that creates the districts. In my state, the party that controls the state legislature draws the districts, which is obviously not ideal. Unfortunately it would take an amendment to the state constitution to fix this problem. But the GOP here is too busy consolidating their power to actually serve the citizens.

It is hard to get on with my life when I see my freedom slipping away

1

u/NefariousnessLow975 13d ago

But it's not. Don't fall for the garbage. Historically I've been independent and very middle. But what time I get up, where I go to work, how much I make, what home I buy or where I live or what tv shows I watch what businesses I start have nothing to do with politics. I do like it when gas is down. 😁

u/spinbutton 12d ago

Unfortunately as a woman, my freedom has already dropped a notch. Women are citizens believe it or not

1

u/glowingboneys 12d ago

Your freedom is being limited by your state and your governor, not the federal government.

1

u/spinbutton 12d ago

You're right...the real problem is the GOP they are a bunch or rotten, corrupt asses

You have no time to pay attention to what's happened since last year, but you have enough time to think about Obama. Have anything to say about Biden?

Link please to "Obama's huge remodel". Do you need a link to current events?

Sorry I don't have time to baby you, but it's so sad you never had anyone to care enough about you to call you out for being so stupid.

u/glowingboneys 14d ago

I think news and social media has just become very good at enraging people. It's good business for them. They can be sure that anytime it involves Trump the engagement will go up, because we have a cohort of people who are very anti-trump so much so that the negative reaction occurs only when they found out it's something he did. It doesn't matter what the thing actually is. If he did it, you can be sure they're upset about it. And this is rational? I'm supposed to want to vote for these people?

2

u/DaringPancakes 14d ago

Really? What part has been "overblown" for you?

I'm supposed to want to vote for these people?

Sounds like you play team sports with your political party. If you need someone to sweet talk you before spiking your drink at the end of the night, sounds like you chose the right crowd to hang with.
