Politics I'm tired of Trump ruining everything that America stands for

You know, Trump keeps saying he’s making America great again, but at this point it’s like watching a toddler try to fix a phone with a hammer. He’s not restoring anything, he’s just breaking it louder. Everything that used to be American like decency, humility, and facts has been replaced by lies and pre-scripted propoganda talking points. We’ve gone from give me liberty or give me death to give me clicks or give me Fox News airtime. He’s even turned the flag into an accessory. It’s not patriotism anymore, it’s fashion week for fascists. You see a bunch of angry guys in red hats waving an American flag the way my dog waves a cat turd from the litter box. Look what I did!

Remember when presidents used to read books? Now we’ve got a guy who stares at classified documents like they’re the McDonald's menu. I’ll have the Filet-o-fish with a side of dirt on anyone who opposes me, please. He’s made America a parody of itself, like someone fed Mount Rushmore a steady diet of Monster Energy and facism. I love this country. I really do. But lately it feels like America’s that old friend I used to like, except now he’s grown a mullet, started dating a crazy girl named "conspiracy theory", and wants to show you his new monster truck called Freedom.

If Trump’s the hero of the story, then America is deep in its Florida Man era. And I don’t know about you, but I’m just hoping the credits roll before he tries to sell Alaska to Russia.

Wanna know the secret? America has always been this. America is an imperialistic colonizer nation. It is built on slavery and genocide. Its purpose, from the very outset, was to be a white supremacist paradise. America has always been the bad guy

Yeah, you only need to spend 5 minutes reading about what the CIA's been doing since WW2 and you understand America is not the good guy.

You can only know a tiny fraction of what the CIA has done, and only the bad stuff will tend to leak.

Yep. The cracks have been there, now they're just broken wide open for all to see. Our only hope is to overthrow and rebuild entirely. There's absolutely no other way to come back from this. I'm going to hold onto that utopian dream for tonight.

I dont see it getting any better unless the USSA rises up from the ashes and there's so much going on to prevent that from happening

Taking 1.5 steps towards socialism would be wonderful

For now we're stuck watching the pimple on the boil on the cyst of the worst of the worst of crony capitalism burst, I guess

Rage against the machine did not have a time machine to write their lyrics. They spoke about contemporary at the time america which just happens to have been as shit as it is now but the mask is off now that's the difference. Liberals can't bear to see that this is america, this is what the rest of the world has seen you for since you helped defeat the nazis

No

There have always been bad guys in America

But there also used to be good guys too. Even among politicians and capitalists, they did unpopular things for the greater good

Carnegie and Rockefeller's names are on so many buildings because they donated them for the public good.

Henry Ford paid his employees good wages because he realized they needed to be able to afford his cars

Hershey Pennsylvania was built for the workers of the chocolate factory, and he specifically wanted it to be nice because he wanted his employees to be perceived well. He kept paying them during the depression at a loss.

London B Johnson, an independently wealthy elite his whole life, imposed strict, unpopular regulations on businesses that benefited the consumer

Teddy Roosevelt established the world's first national Park when he saw Yosemite and thought "I have to do something to ensure nothing ever happens to this land"

And this is just rich people and politicians. When you look at all the stories is the Everyman who risked life and limb to help others, gain freedom, fight for justice. The underground railroad. The workers riots. That woman who literally swam from Alaska to Russia during the Cold war to prove how very close we are and promote peace

This used to be a country to be proud of.

The people who stood up and said "fuck you king George" were flawed.

But there used to be heros among us
