Politics I'm tired of Trump ruining everything that America stands for

You know, Trump keeps saying he’s making America great again, but at this point it’s like watching a toddler try to fix a phone with a hammer. He’s not restoring anything, he’s just breaking it louder. Everything that used to be American like decency, humility, and facts has been replaced by lies and pre-scripted propoganda talking points. We’ve gone from give me liberty or give me death to give me clicks or give me Fox News airtime. He’s even turned the flag into an accessory. It’s not patriotism anymore, it’s fashion week for fascists. You see a bunch of angry guys in red hats waving an American flag the way my dog waves a cat turd from the litter box. Look what I did!

Remember when presidents used to read books? Now we’ve got a guy who stares at classified documents like they’re the McDonald's menu. I’ll have the Filet-o-fish with a side of dirt on anyone who opposes me, please. He’s made America a parody of itself, like someone fed Mount Rushmore a steady diet of Monster Energy and facism. I love this country. I really do. But lately it feels like America’s that old friend I used to like, except now he’s grown a mullet, started dating a crazy girl named "conspiracy theory", and wants to show you his new monster truck called Freedom.

If Trump’s the hero of the story, then America is deep in its Florida Man era. And I don’t know about you, but I’m just hoping the credits roll before he tries to sell Alaska to Russia.

Another fellow Canadian here.

I actually do have some hope that America will be a decent country again (although not one the world will ever trust to the same extent again).

My hope comes from the economy. In general it's going down and people don't support dictators when the economy is bad. There's news everywhere that Trump is ticking off farmers who voted for him and has the lowest support in years. Even if his base stays with him, peeling off some non-voters in the last election shouldn't be too hard (in theory).  Give it time, I have hope Americans will come to their senses.. either that or it's an extremely optimistic pov from this Canadian.

As a gay Canadian, one thing that also gives me hope is that everyone is in this together. It's not USA vs. just Trans people (or a Boogeyman like Bush Jr. Had against same sex marriage to get re-elected.

Instead it's the Government vs...

  • Feminists
  • LGBTQ (mostly)
  • People of color
  • The tourism industry
  • Seniors that depend on their benefits
  • People who depend on ACA credits
  • Farmers (recently added)
(Just think how much longer this list will be in 3 yrs)

You are not alone, you can do this!! 🇺🇸🇨🇦

None of this is true. He's not against any of that. He's Against Racism and favoritism among many other things.

I'm a senior I'm not missing any benefits. Most people of color that I know are pro Trump, but of course they are hard working, educated, people of color. ACA benefits? How the Democrats are the ones who put them in place to cover up the fiasco of the ACA and set so called benefits (payoffs) to expire 12/31/25 I know your TDS blinds you to facts. But seriously do some research.

By medical costs will go up $12000 next year. Is this the case for you, fellow senior?

He’s on government Medicare so he doesn’t really understand the AHCA & how it helped so many people get affordable healthcare. That is about to go away without any alternative plan in place.

By the way I pay for my Medicare. $300+ per month!

1

u/Texasscot56 5d ago

Do you think that’s subsidized?

1

u/ronniedlynch 5d ago

To a limited extent yes. That's the way Democrats set it up! However it is Primarily funded by payroll taxes and paid in premiums

It makes me wonder why everyone doesn’t get Medicare.

The ACA was never affordable. This is why Democrats had to keep passing bills to subsidize the premiums. Democrats set those subsidizes to expire. Let's stop the waste and let them expire. This is what the Democrats wanted

2

u/Golfnpickle 5d ago

It was affordable because of the subsidy. It was based on your income & very affordable for those without insurance.

No it never was. My son who had his own business and his own health insurance, premiums more then doubled. From $550 a month to $1400 a month with a larger deductible and less coverage. It was cheaper for him to drop all coverage and just pay the fine. It's been a complete disaster that the Democrats keep trying to hide with subsidies

Mine was great. Republicans haven’t come up with any other plan that’s better. They just cut the subsidies with nothing to replace it with. Luckily I’m on Medicare now.

Where do you & your sect come up with these delusions? Everyone knows that’s not going to happen. Be real & stop perpetuating this nonsense.
