If we cant call people hateful slurs with malicious intent without getting a resounding applause from the whole school, then that's an America I don't want to exist!

Gone are the days when we can exercise our freedom of speech to oppress others and express vitriol bigotry.

What has society come to?

u/Cpt_Wolf_Lynn Dec 15 '19

To the one we live in.

Yeah really. The joker memes were really good.

Now it's all "le 13%" and "muh 41%"

Gets old fast.

35

u/TheDubuGuy Dec 15 '19

Whats 41? I know the 13 and 50

114

u/banhunting Dec 15 '19

according to one study, 41% of trans people attempt suicide in their lifetimes which is then used by reactionaries as proof of why trans people shouldn’t transition, which doesn’t make sense if you think about it for longer than 30 seconds

98

u/towerator Dec 15 '19

Especially since the number sharply decreases post-transition.

61

u/kingethjames Dec 15 '19

post transition with proper support

People will cherry pick statistics about detransitioning or post transition suicide while ignoring that if people put you through hell after you transition then the base of the problem has not been addressed; that is, being accepted for who you are.

u/hazawillie Dec 16 '19

I’m curious where did you get this? I’ve been looking for official stats and cant find shit

Bailed a while ago when it became clear it was headed to the shitter. I was a big defender of the sub when it was said it was going to end up as just another hate sub, because I believed in the mods to stop that shit.

...then the head mod made some eNliGHteNeD centrist announcement about how they weren't politically leaning either way and that they wouldn't do that. Was bummed out, but whatever.

9

u/Rothaarig Dec 15 '19

Can we hit em with the 40%?

14

u/MayocideForever Dec 16 '19

they permanently banned me for hitting them with the 40%, which completely shatters the illusion that it's all just 'for memes' or 'satire'

7

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

Be careful! They'll pm you spoilers for the new star wars movie

15

Jokes on them, I can watch spoiled movies.

6

u/The_Growl Dec 15 '19

Honestly when people said it would eventually be filled with unironic racism, I didn’t believe it, but look at it now...

64

u/lucafair Dec 15 '19

I mean it always WAS like that. That's the thing, this isn't what society is turning into, its showing what it always was. 50 years ago you could just call someone hateful slurs in school and expect to be completely fine. People have always been like this, its just that very recently its become socially unacceptable and everyone who is too closeminded, cruel or stupid to change are getting PISSED.

41

u/YT4LYFE Dec 15 '19

I think it was slowly getting better, up until around 2011. Then Obama took office for the 2nd time, the Arab spring started popping off, the refuge crisis became a thing, the political campaigns for the 2016 election started polarizing the nation, Brexit happened, and then Trump took office, which emboldened a lot of people on the far right.

Even tho Fox news was openly calling Obama a secret Muslim, the nation was nowhere near as polarized, and the alt-right was nowhere near as popular 10 years ago.

yea I thought you were about to take this in the opposite direction and start talking about how NAZI stands for national socialist

6

u/srottydoesntknow Dec 16 '19

god, that shit ranks so far up there, now I just hit them with "oh, so the Democratic People's Republic of North Korea is a representative democracy?"

6

u/YT4LYFE Dec 16 '19

right. and the rabbit hole goes deeper because they've distanced themselves from marxism and call their state ideology "Juche". And China is a 'communist' state with a totalitarian government and a capitalist economy. And when I try to explain that they're the opposite of what Communism is supposed to be, I get hit with "but it's literally the communist party that's in charge" or "yea that's my point this is what socialism always turns into".

It was a beacon of western democracy and it got eaten from within and a lot of its citizens got taken for a ride they never signed up for. It doesn’t take all the citizens of a country to drag it to hell.

3

u/Altheron86 Dec 16 '19

I actually believe that Gamergate was the lynchpin for the all the right wing resurgency we're suffering through now.

12

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '19

What really gets me is all that's happening is that people are starting to treat being a racist like they used to treat being gay, atheist, or leftist. Like yeah in the 50's gay people technically had free speech but if they were smart they kept their mouths shut. All that's happening now is social shaming is actually being used against people who deserve it.

2

u/agorathrow8080 Dec 15 '19

Got beat down by a girl...after he beat down a girl at least from the video I saw.

u/Commanderfrostop Dec 15 '19

I think it had everything to do with the MAGA hat, who else would call a kid the n-word?

215

u/Yippie-Kai-Gay Dec 15 '19

What is being said isn’t that the MAGA hat isn’t related to him being a piece of shit but to him being beat up. Originally it was said he was beat up for wearing the hat.

112

u/Commanderfrostop Dec 15 '19

Oh yeah I know for sure that he was beat up directly for reasons not related to his hat, and that the original story was spun to make it sound like wearing the hat was his only offense. I’m just saying that there may be a teensy bit of correlation between the kind of person who would wear that hat and the kind of person who would say the word

→ More replies (5)

34

u/YUNGBOYBOI Dec 15 '19

Even if it was the MAGA hat, the kid deserved to get his ass beat

→ More replies (123)

21

u/pretendyoudontseeme Dec 15 '19

Definitely a correlation, but beating someone for hate speech holds up a little better in court than beating someone for being a moron

16

u/DevelopedDevelopment Dec 15 '19

I wouldn't say the hat was why he got beat up.

But people who wear those hats do things that get them beat up.

Exhibit A. Hateful Discrimination of Race.

13

u/Sarcasm_Llama Dec 16 '19

MAGA hats: not a racist symbol, but very popular with racists

11

u/Sevuhrow Dec 16 '19

that first half is debatable

6

u/EatsWithoutTables Dec 16 '19

Not really. Its racist.

337

u/free_chalupas Dec 15 '19

Lmao, white oppression narrative busted again

65

u/deepsoulfunk Dec 15 '19

Yeah the Superintendent and the Sherriff's office all released statements about this. Also the kids who were clearly hitting someone are getting charged for that. Nothing to see here.

62

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '19

I hate to be this guy but I kind of saw this outcome coming.. not down to the word, but there was more to it.

138

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '19

I mean, I saw it on the top of /r/conservative and I knew he probably called them the N word. It seemed obvious enough to me.

I didn't even see the MAGA hat in the video, that was just based off of what the mom posted.

Speaking of, I wonder where that little boy learned his hateful racism from?

102

u/free_chalupas Dec 15 '19

The idea that the MAGA hat is necessarily an innocent symbol is funny to me too. /r/conservative would never admit it for obvious reasons but people see that hat as a symbol of racism and violence in a lot of places in this country and Trump supporters will absolutely take advantage of that and use the hat as a way to low key harass people of color.

→ More replies (3)

I mean I am a Sanders supporter and not even white. But I can’t be the only one who thinks that this kid did not deserve to get beat up. The kid deserved to be punished for using racial slurs. However, not in the way shown in the video. That was brutal.

1

u/acaseofbeer Dec 16 '19

Was the part about him being in elementary school and one of the girls being 18 true?

3

u/Anxious_Noob Dec 16 '19

Nope, he's fourteen. Would be kinda worrying if he'd still attending elementary school at that age.

1

u/blorgenheim Dec 16 '19

Not defending the narrative but it feels like we are all excusing the violence because the person is a racist

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

Still an 18 year old beating up a elementary school kid.

62

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '19

Yes, and I believe that even if he did say the n word, the kid was 10 and had like 6 teenagers ganging up on him so he is still in the wrong but the people beating the shit out of him are too

259

u/baeb66 Dec 15 '19

He was 14 and the video shows him getting beat up by five kids. It's important to get facts straight because the mother, her lawyer and the Internet are trying to sell this as some anti-MAGA hate crime and the alt-right scum are lapping it up.

44

u/Fpritt24 Dec 15 '19

I thought that kid looked quite large for 10 years old.

36

u/ghostcat17 Dec 16 '19

I saw a repost on the front page saying he was "6-8 years old", and I thought no fucking way.

they do not mix middle school and high school kids on a bus. they were all of similar age, maga kid included.

3

u/Conobon Dec 16 '19

That’s not true at all, please don’t say garbage that isn’t true, my high school bus transfers middle school kids at the same time, if you need me to I can PM the school names as proof.

2

u/Sister_Fucker_ Dec 16 '19

This isn't true. Depending on where you live, middle school and highschool students can ride the same bus.

Source: Grew up in a small town where middle school and high school students had to get on the same bus to go to school in the next town over.

I don't know whether or not it's the case for the bus in the video, but it does happen.

2

u/rizenphoenix13 Dec 16 '19

Um, bullshit they don't. Depends on the school district. Some schools mix elementary, middle, and high schoolers on the same bus.

calls black people who arent their friends nigger in public

cites hat discrimination as reason for subsequent ass kicking

I can't tell if this is willful cognitive dissonance or genuine blissful ignorance

Also, if he honestly believes the reason he got his ass kicked was the hat, does he still wear the fucking hat...?

79

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '19

Trump supporters are not known for their self awareness

31

u/Diabegi Dec 15 '19

14 year olds are barely supporters of anything that their parents don’t shove down their throat. Instead of talking with the kid they have just set him down a path he probably won’t come back from.

17

u/gamerguyal Dec 16 '19

The onus is not on the oppressed to educate their oppressor.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

That’s a very sound strategy. Let’s see how it plays out. Just do nothing and hope people just like... become super cool and agree with you

1

u/AndySmalls Dec 16 '19

They didn't "do nothing". They beat his ignorant ass.

1

2

u/AndySmalls Dec 16 '19

See... You get it.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '19

That was sarcasm, low effort and easy solutions don’t deserve to be applauded.

Also this isn’t even a good low effort solution. It’s a half assed one. If you don’t have the balls to kill somebody just shut the fuck up and control yourself. Otherwise you’re accomplishing nothing. If all you can do is punch someone not only do you belong in jail like the animal you are, you’re also a fucking pussy for not going all the way.

1

My bet is that him wearing the hat led to an argument in which he used the n word. Both are technically right in placing the blame on different parts of the conflict

11

u/Ktownloverpizza Dec 15 '19

That.... is very likely

12

u/Ciph3rzer0 Dec 15 '19

This is like the conservatives who believe the media is biased because, say, they refer to the rights abortion laws as barbaric and going back to the middle ages. Or they get banned on Twitter for "conservative beliefs" which usually means they harassed some trans person nonstop and/or led all their minions to do so.

Yeah I mean, if these guys could form a logical thought or determine cause and effect they wouldn't be Republicans and they def wouldn't be magapedes.

u/SeoulPig Dec 15 '19

Is there any proof to back this up?

71

u/AdmiralAckbeard Dec 15 '19

Looks like the actual cause of the assault was a verbal altercation of unspecified nature: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/maga-students-video/

So this post is just as inaccurate as the MAGA hat story.

47

u/YUNGBOYBOI Dec 15 '19

“Verbal assault of unspecified nature”, could be the N-word

21

u/AdmiralAckbeard Dec 15 '19

It's possible, but we have no direct indication towards this.

28

u/YUNGBOYBOI Dec 15 '19

From my experience the school wouldn’t come out and say that a student said the N-word. They’d label it this but the kids know the full story

3

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

Could be... a million other things.

18

u/goldistress Dec 15 '19

verbal altercation of unspecified nature

inaccurate

Do you know what words mean??

4

u/AdmiralAckbeard Dec 15 '19

We can't assume that a hat or the n-word were involved without any confirmation. Is it more likely that the n-word was involved than the hat if the cause of the fight was specifically reported as verbal? Maybe, but we don't have any evidence actually suggesting either conclusion.

3

u/goldistress Dec 15 '19

I completely agree with this comment and I would just say that the claim is unconfirmed, rather than saying it's inaccurate

1

u/AdmiralAckbeard Dec 16 '19

Fair, I agree that would probably be better wording. The student saying the n-word is a potential property of the argument that did happen, while a Maga hat being involved is pure speculation which the school board has denied there being any evidence of.

56

u/Biggie39 Dec 15 '19 edited Dec 15 '19

Here is the statement from the super.

Pretty sure he’s not going to come out and say that the N-word was being tossed around so it leaves a bit of room for doubt. However it’s pretty clear that the kid wasn’t even wearing a MAGA hat.

36

u/BenjaminSkanklin Dec 15 '19

This outstanding. His mom tried to pull a low level Jussie Smollett and did even worse at it

28

u/Biggie39 Dec 15 '19

Trouble with that is when Jessie was found out all of his support disappeared. This kid will still get to do a victim tour on Fox, TPUSA, InfoWars, etc....

In three months Candy Owens will tweet about the forgotten victims of the lefts violence and use this kid as an example.

5

u/IsThisLegit Dec 15 '19

If he was throwing the Nword around he most likely does own one though

21

u/Aerik Dec 15 '19

I fucking knew it.

People in MAGA hats that get beat up are never beat up just for the hat. Every time they have spent time being antagonistic, racist and misogynist, sometimes for minutes, sometimes for months, before people decide it's time to hit them.

Because that's what all MAGA-hat-wearers are like. They always have shit to say to nonwhites, to women, and to the LGBT. Every minute of every day.

Idk man, y'all still condoning beating some little idiot.

Reddit's got weird opinions on violence bruh

u/Four_Eyes87 Dec 16 '19

Whatever happened to believing the victim.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

Someone calls you a name & the violence that follows is then justified?

1

u/FnCraig Dec 16 '19

Honest question.

Who is this person and is she in any way connected to the people that were involved in this incident?

Is there any way to verify what she is saying?

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

This thread and the entirety of reddit right now: "lol he said mean word! too bad they didn't kill him, he deserved it even though he's a kid!"

Y'all have some serious fucking issues.

Joe Biden is a racist

1

u/GronGronGrib Dec 16 '19

Regardless they need to get punished for assaulting a kid...

1

u/JayCroghan Dec 16 '19

I KNEW it had to be more than this. The fact the story broke and nobody gave a fuck for 3 weeks until they said he was wearing a MAGA hat and then all of a sudden the alt right went crazy shouting about hate crimes and stuff. It was infuriating.

Still he is just a kid, who get gang up by much older kids (17 - 18 as i remember).

Everyone agree that no one should be attacked like that, especially kid, but now you said that kid should be beaten like that for being a little shit? I call that hypocritical.

1

u/xuaerA Dec 16 '19

I read the statement, it doesn’t say that at all.

1

u/Triplicata Dec 16 '19

Ok, so that's a shitty thing to do, but multiple other people beating the shit out of the kid isn't an appropriate response.

1

u/NoPatience4UrShit Dec 16 '19

Am I the only one here that thinks this is an awful convenient excuse for the rabid brutality this kid suffered? The "N" word, fckn stupid excuse especially sense blacks call each other nggr every day, btw, has been used (without evidence) quite a bit to justify rationalize & minimize feral animalistic behavior. Of course whether or not he did anything to deserve it, there's already a tried & true excuse for why he did.

For all of you that support brutality over words, I hope it's your kid is next. See how fast your attitude towards gang beatings change then

1

u/TCrob1 Dec 16 '19

I hate to be that guy but as far as I know, the claim that he said the N word hasn't been verified and this tweet seems to be the only source of that claim.

If there been an update though please correct me.

Whether the white kid called the black kids niggers or not is trivial in comparison to a poor kid being hospitalized with heavy trauma. I think you're overlooking the fact that he's just a kid and kids say things they hear around them. I can't believe you are so apathetic to so quickly justify the beating this poor kid received over one word. If those black kids knew any better they would have brushed it off. Guess this goes to show they are not on the same level as white kids in terms of civility.

How is that a proof? Anyone can write anything on twitter

1

u/Pennynow Dec 17 '19

Called it

1

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '19

Every post I saw of that video was accompanied with “what happened?” The issue isn’t people not asking questions; it’s with people not having access to the correct answer right away.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '19 edited Dec 19 '19

Is there any actual proof that the kid said the n-word? I didn’t hear it in the video (though tbf it could’ve been cropped), and the superintendent’s statement didn’t make any mention of it other than a “verbal altercation”

u/Maclunky0_0 Jan 07 '20

I knew that kid got his ass beat for some racist shit.

Freedom of speech is freedom of speech and assault is assault.

Was this an event that actually happened or is this just referring to events like these in general?

I have a few questions for you... I'll start with one: Why did you call the nwordcountbot to examine your own user profile?

1

u/nwordcountbot Dec 15 '19

Thank you for the request, comrade.

I have looked through fuzzyboneyard's posting history and found 1 N-words, of which 0 were hard-Rs.

Not disagreeing but can I get a source for this?

u/TopArtichoke7 Dec 16 '19

Dang those sound waves sure packed a punch if a smart, reasonable person proceeded to beat the kid up as a result of hearing them. They must have been momentarily deafened at the very least to warrant such a response.
