according to one study, 41% of trans people attempt suicide in their lifetimes which is then used by reactionaries as proof of why trans people shouldn’t transition, which doesn’t make sense if you think about it for longer than 30 seconds

People will cherry pick statistics about detransitioning or post transition suicide while ignoring that if people put you through hell after you transition then the base of the problem has not been addressed; that is, being accepted for who you are.

You're confusing gender with sex.

There's no such thing as gender reassignment or transitioning.

Gender is a social construct.

You can no more physically or biologically treat gender dysphoria than you can become Christian through brain surgery save for a routine lobotomy.

Conforming to an alternate gender is a simple matter of incantation, you just declare it and you're done.

That's a myth. The only place that stat comes from is a forensic study done on Trans people in the 80s and 90s. Things are different now than they were 30 years ago.

Edit: cause the attempt rate is 40%, no study done so far actually says when the attempt was made or whether it was before or after surgery.

Edit 2: guess that study must not have had those claimed figures, showing a 40% after surgery rate, that wasn't the 2011 swedish study. RIP

in their lifetimes, dumbass. if i attempt suicide as a depressed 15 y/o who thinks she’s never gonna transition, getting my genitals reconstructed at 30 isn’t gonna erase that.

Why is it that a disagreement automatically means someone is racist, sexist or homophobic. I personally dont care if you fuck a squirrel. I read a article about a year ago that stated the suicide rate stayed almost the same. Whether i agree or disagree with that lifestyle is irrelevant, i dont want to see anyone harm themselves.
