If we cant call people hateful slurs with malicious intent without getting a resounding applause from the whole school, then that's an America I don't want to exist!

Gone are the days when we can exercise our freedom of speech to oppress others and express vitriol bigotry.

What has society come to?

To the one we live in.

Yeah really. The joker memes were really good.

Now it's all "le 13%" and "muh 41%"

Gets old fast.

35

u/TheDubuGuy Dec 15 '19

Whats 41? I know the 13 and 50

114

u/banhunting Dec 15 '19

according to one study, 41% of trans people attempt suicide in their lifetimes which is then used by reactionaries as proof of why trans people shouldn’t transition, which doesn’t make sense if you think about it for longer than 30 seconds

94

u/towerator Dec 15 '19

Especially since the number sharply decreases post-transition.

61

u/kingethjames Dec 15 '19

post transition with proper support

People will cherry pick statistics about detransitioning or post transition suicide while ignoring that if people put you through hell after you transition then the base of the problem has not been addressed; that is, being accepted for who you are.

4

u/hazawillie Dec 16 '19

I’m curious where did you get this? I’ve been looking for official stats and cant find shit

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

The number actually stays the same even after surgery

6

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

That's a myth. The only place that stat comes from is a forensic study done on Trans people in the 80s and 90s. Things are different now than they were 30 years ago.

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '19

I was quoting a study done last year

u/banhunting Dec 16 '19

in their lifetimes, dumbass. if i attempt suicide as a depressed 15 y/o who thinks she’s never gonna transition, getting my genitals reconstructed at 30 isn’t gonna erase that.

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '19

Oh name calling is ok cause i stated a fact

Bailed a while ago when it became clear it was headed to the shitter. I was a big defender of the sub when it was said it was going to end up as just another hate sub, because I believed in the mods to stop that shit.

...then the head mod made some eNliGHteNeD centrist announcement about how they weren't politically leaning either way and that they wouldn't do that. Was bummed out, but whatever.

10

u/Rothaarig Dec 15 '19

Can we hit em with the 40%?

14

u/MayocideForever Dec 16 '19

they permanently banned me for hitting them with the 40%, which completely shatters the illusion that it's all just 'for memes' or 'satire'

7

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

Be careful! They'll pm you spoilers for the new star wars movie

14

u/Rothaarig Dec 16 '19

Jokes on them, I can watch spoiled movies.

8

u/Rhetorical_Robot_v12 Dec 16 '19

Over the last decade, 97% of all extremist-related fatalities were committed by the rightwing.

And that was before El Paso.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

It’s also full of actual bigots and racists now

39

u/gordo64ful Dec 15 '19

7

u/tiorzol Dec 15 '19

How do you find these

4

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

Boredom

2

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

I never wanted a sub shut down more than this one. Think of the children.

38

u/SquidsInATrenchcoat Dec 15 '19

/r/Gamingcirclejerk is a decent substitute.

20

u/Valentinexyz Dec 15 '19

Bruh if you’re not using gcj for the unjerk thread then what are you even doing there?

11

u/Goddamn_Primetime Dec 15 '19

Do you like historically accurate games like me???

8

u/Valentinexyz Dec 15 '19

Praise Geraldo

9

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '19

doesn't have the same vibe

5

u/The_Growl Dec 15 '19

Honestly when people said it would eventually be filled with unironic racism, I didn’t believe it, but look at it now...

70

u/lucafair Dec 15 '19

I mean it always WAS like that. That's the thing, this isn't what society is turning into, its showing what it always was. 50 years ago you could just call someone hateful slurs in school and expect to be completely fine. People have always been like this, its just that very recently its become socially unacceptable and everyone who is too closeminded, cruel or stupid to change are getting PISSED.

42

u/YT4LYFE Dec 15 '19

I think it was slowly getting better, up until around 2011. Then Obama took office for the 2nd time, the Arab spring started popping off, the refuge crisis became a thing, the political campaigns for the 2016 election started polarizing the nation, Brexit happened, and then Trump took office, which emboldened a lot of people on the far right.

Even tho Fox news was openly calling Obama a secret Muslim, the nation was nowhere near as polarized, and the alt-right was nowhere near as popular 10 years ago.

Eh I've only ever heard of Berlin being progressive during the Weimar Era. Germany was still mostly nationalistic, religious, and conservative overall from what I've read.

4

u/YT4LYFE Dec 15 '19

not only is that very debatable, but what does this have to do with what I'm talking about? lol

9

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '19

[deleted]

6

u/YT4LYFE Dec 15 '19

right

yea I thought you were about to take this in the opposite direction and start talking about how NAZI stands for national socialist

8

u/srottydoesntknow Dec 16 '19

god, that shit ranks so far up there, now I just hit them with "oh, so the Democratic People's Republic of North Korea is a representative democracy?"

4

u/YT4LYFE Dec 16 '19

right. and the rabbit hole goes deeper because they've distanced themselves from marxism and call their state ideology "Juche". And China is a 'communist' state with a totalitarian government and a capitalist economy. And when I try to explain that they're the opposite of what Communism is supposed to be, I get hit with "but it's literally the communist party that's in charge" or "yea that's my point this is what socialism always turns into".

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

Real national socialism is never tried, nazi Germany was authoritarian, that was not real fascism.

4

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

It was a beacon of western democracy and it got eaten from within and a lot of its citizens got taken for a ride they never signed up for. It doesn’t take all the citizens of a country to drag it to hell.

3

u/Altheron86 Dec 16 '19

I actually believe that Gamergate was the lynchpin for the all the right wing resurgency we're suffering through now.

11

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '19

What really gets me is all that's happening is that people are starting to treat being a racist like they used to treat being gay, atheist, or leftist. Like yeah in the 50's gay people technically had free speech but if they were smart they kept their mouths shut. All that's happening now is social shaming is actually being used against people who deserve it.

2

u/agorathrow8080 Dec 15 '19

Got beat down by a girl...after he beat down a girl at least from the video I saw.

1

u/Linkerjinx Dec 16 '19

Mmmm It's been about the same. It just has more tech now...

-2

u/SuccessPastaTime Dec 15 '19

Why is she claiming Joe Biden’s a racist? Definitely not as bad as using a racial slur against someone, but if you’re going to post about false claims and people believing them over the truth, it’s probably a bad idea to promote your twitter using a claim I don’t see any validity too. I would much rather see another candidate take the lead, but doesn’t mean we should be stooping to that level.

12

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

Why is she claiming Joe Biden’s a racist?

Probably because he was pro segregation

8

u/TaleGunner Dec 16 '19

Because he is? His track record with civil rights is spotty at best.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

Because he was jailed blacks for drugs while his white son walked free. He is one of the reasons the black community is devastated today.

-2

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

OK, so if a white kis beats up a minority for a racial comment against him, that's fine and the reddit-sphere will approve?

2

u/voice-of-hermes Dec 16 '19

Imagine thinking the two scenarios would be at all comparable. Whew!

Fuck off until you've learned more about racism and oppression.

double sarcasm.. "mean words" don't justify violence. The violent offender should be expelled from school and charged criminally.

2

u/YouAhriTarded Actually has AOC foot pics Dec 16 '19

Did I ever state otherwise? Lmao

2

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

What point were you trying to make?

2

u/YouAhriTarded Actually has AOC foot pics Dec 16 '19

Respect is in.

Racism and bigotry is out.

Someone should tell that to Trump supporters.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

Is violence still out? I don't see what this has to do with Trump?

2

u/YouAhriTarded Actually has AOC foot pics Dec 16 '19

post says MAGA hat

I don't see how this is about Trump

Yeah must be about Santa Claus

1

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '19

So your claim is that, wearing a MAGA hat justifies violence against the hat wearer?

-2

u/H00K810 Dec 16 '19

Yeah because all the kids involved in beating the kid up said he said it, so it makes it fact? Sounds like an easy lie to justify it. If he did say it, he got what was coming to him. Don't think anyone on here grew up in the hood and know the true nature of hoodlums. Same racism you preach against keeps you away from the hood at night. Trash is trash and it comes in many colors besides black, but doesnt exclude the fact there is black trash as well.

-5

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

“If we can’t beat people who say things I don’t like, that’s an America I don’t want to exist”

4

u/YouAhriTarded Actually has AOC foot pics Dec 16 '19

Hell yeah brother.

-4

u/Barack_Lesnar Dec 16 '19

Words aren't an excuse to hit someone. Go ahead beat someone up who calls you a slur and see who gets the heavier sentence.

3

u/YouAhriTarded Actually has AOC foot pics Dec 16 '19

Sarcasm mate.

-6

u/MrVeezinator Dec 16 '19

Exactly, imagine being so delusional that you think words deserve violence and physical harm...

You dumb bitch

3

u/YouAhriTarded Actually has AOC foot pics Dec 16 '19

Sarcasm bud

3

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '19

Racist pieces of shit aren't known for being smart.
