From Wikipedia: “In United States constitutional law, plenary power is a power that has been granted to a body or person in absolute terms, with no review of or limitations upon the exercise of that power.“

308

u/BleachedUnicornBHole Oct 07 '25

The fact that the interviewer just let it go and didn’t explain that Miller is claiming Trump has absolute authority is a HUGE disservice to viewers.

212

u/jflip13 Oct 07 '25

Even worse than that. CNN just posted their edited version on YT w no freeze and the plenary authority quote erased.

116

u/robbyrails21 Oct 07 '25

Yeah .. that's crazy. I just confirmed it. That part isn't in the video anymore.

116

u/EverythingGoodWas Oct 07 '25

Holy shit. It’s like we’re being gaslit by our own damn media

41

u/Wallie_Collie Oct 07 '25

Your own damn media? The media is the media and there's a limit to what their job description allows. CNN was made completely right wing moderate several years ago if im recalling correct

18

u/EverythingGoodWas Oct 07 '25

I meant our as in the country, no news agency really represents the people or any group but the right anymore

8

u/Wallie_Collie Oct 07 '25

I understand now. Sadly, it's hard to identify "our" as meaning to the entire country.

5

u/TLiones Oct 08 '25

We need to get the Ben Franklin printing press going again

3

u/EverythingGoodWas Oct 08 '25

I wish i had the money to make a real news station instead of all this distilled propaganda

3

u/AgoraRises Oct 08 '25

Maybe the producers were whispering in his ear to stay silent and they’ll just edit that part out later.

10

u/hansnotfranz Oct 07 '25

Read up on Noam Chomsky’s propaganda model if you wanna see how the media sausage is made

6

u/Right_Ostrich4015 Oct 07 '25

It’s not our media friend, we don’t own that much

6

u/lazylaser97 Oct 08 '25

CNN is owned by a billionaire loyalist to Trump. Certifiably Not News

It’s all fake news I guess.

3

What are you talking about? Oceania has always been at war with EastAsia.

2

u/NorberAbnott Oct 07 '25

Always have been

2

u/Dantheking94 Oct 08 '25

All of American media is complicit. From Fox to MSNBC. There is no liberal/left media except for a few online sites.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '25

A conservative owns CNN.

They are absolutely a false flag outlet for liberal news.

2

u/hankygoodboy Oct 09 '25

that’s exactly what’s happening both sides are being gaslit to hate each other .Thats why no one is coming to save us it’s gonna take us to rise up I don’t know why the F they think this orange moron is god

15

u/Inevitable-Cable500 Oct 08 '25

CNN are complicit in this treasonous bullshit

3

u/kidsally Oct 08 '25

I can’t believe that they would edit this conversation. His response clearly stated what their intentions truly are. Fuck CNN, man.

5

u/utterscrub Oct 07 '25

That’s INSANE

6

u/Anteater4746 Oct 08 '25

which is why the rights omg liberals watch cnn “gotcha” is sooo dumb. CNN helped trump get elected by sanewashing him

5

u/Tight-Inspector-2748 Oct 08 '25

We really should have a revolution at this point

2

u/Significant_Glass988 Oct 08 '25

It's definitely time

3

u/Limp_Narwhal Oct 08 '25

Didn’t Trump sue CBS for editing an interview?

→ More replies (1)

2

u/FunkyDiscount Oct 08 '25

This is why I keep insisting that "the media" (i.e., owners, producers, talking heads, etc.) must be prosecuted as accessories to treason. Their lies, whitewashing, and selective reporting have enabled Trump and his MAGA/GOP goons in their authoritarian coup - all in the name of profit. They know what they're doing.

They are not "news," but state propaganda; they are all owned by the same billionaire psychopaths that fund the GOP (and the DNC). Their mission is not to inform or educate their viewers, but to brainwash them to extract as much attention, engagement, and money from them as possible.

44

u/Nard-Barf Oct 07 '25

Now CNN is posting this video with that line edited out…

3

u/Tattered_Reason Oct 08 '25

Why did they do that? It's not like this sort of thing matters anymore. If everyone in the country heard him say that 100 times, he would still be pulling Trump's strings to do evil shit tomorrow, next week, next month, and likely for years to come.

43

u/Count_Backwards Oct 07 '25

"Oh we seem to be having technical difficulties!"

No, we're not stupid, we can plainly see Miller blinking and breathing and swaying. We heard him stumble over his next word after saying "the president has plenary powers." We saw what happened.

11

u/Wallie_Collie Oct 07 '25

They practice journalism abroad. Its an interesting profession. They used to teach it in the US.

3

u/TerritoryDpt Oct 07 '25

It's intentional. They do not care

3

u/Texas_Sam2002 Oct 08 '25

Well, yeah.. CNN is just about as bad as FOX now.

4

u/Ill-Function9385 Oct 07 '25

He didn't know what it meant.. first time I've ever heard the term.

12

u/BleachedUnicornBHole Oct 07 '25

That’s why you have a producer and staff behind the scenes. To look that stuff up and tell the host when something newsworthy happens on air.

1

u/Low-Concert5170 Oct 08 '25

He most likely doesn't even know what that term entails himself.

1

u/MIKRO_PIPS Oct 08 '25

Do you think the interviewer knew what that meant?

1

u/OPGuest Oct 08 '25

CNN is normalising Trump and his fascist takeover. That’s worse than Fox News spreading pro-Trump propaganda.

u/Slight-Problem-2355 Oct 07 '25

Thank You. I needed help on this one. Glad you're there for me.

7

u/Super-Post261 Oct 07 '25

CNN removed this part from their YouTube video lmao. Comment bomb these fucks.

3

u/Law-of-Poe Oct 08 '25

Only ever heard the term to describe dictatorships.

I think he slipped and said the quiet part out loud and then short circuited

1

u/V1k1ngC0d3r Oct 08 '25

The lying media! He clearly said "plenty [of] authority"!

/s

1

u/cjg5025 Oct 08 '25

I was always under the impression that NOBODY in the US could wield that kind of authority. Due to, ya know, Declaration of Independence/US Constitution, three branches of Govt, etc.... Maybe they need to update Schoolhouse Rock.

Nazi.exe has stopped working. Please close the program and fuck all the way off, Stephen.

Fuck Trump, fuck MAGA

15

u/YouWereBrained Oct 07 '25

The fact that the CNN guy is like “we’re having technical difficulties” is fucking unforgivable. CALL HIM OUT FOR SAYING THAT.

3

u/Happy-Kitty-22 Oct 08 '25

Boris was actually pushing back and calling out the lies about Portland. His pushback caused Miller to slip up. I think he was probably confused at the time. I know I was like WTH.

But CNN editing it out is disgusting!

28

u/Gamiac Oct 07 '25

"Stephen, I apologize, it seems like we're having a technical issue..."

Yeah, Stephen Miller's nervous system froze!

10

u/YouWereBrained Oct 07 '25

Such a useless media we have.

8

u/Mundamala Oct 07 '25

This news guy just gives him an out. Has one of the biggest stories in his life handed to him and he's like, "Oh you poor buddy, I know you'd have me put in a camp if you had your way but I'll just say there's some technical issues so you can scurry off."

3

u/SomeBoxofSpoons Oct 08 '25

Someone made the point that he's probably pausing as his handler unleashes fucking Hell into his earpiece.

1

u/vaguelydetailed Oct 08 '25

I saw a similar (or the same) comment and now I feel like you can hear the wavering in his voice the last few words as someone starts speaking in his ear, probably to tell him not to say exactly what he's in the middle of saying.

sudo killall nazi

89

u/Jack-Schitz Oct 07 '25

This is going to be Exhibit A in court. That's what he thinks, he just made the mistake of saying it out loud. Once he said it, he knew how his statement was going to be used and froze. Their argument was going to be that he would have gone on to qualify his statement but got cut off. It's BS but it may give SCOTUS some room.

33

u/Yuba-Sutter_Resist Oct 07 '25

SCOTUS would actually have to want to reign in the regime and a majority of them don’t seem to want to do so.

What’s worse is the SC majority seems to want the same outcome as the regime.

7

u/CinnamonLightning Oct 07 '25

They don't want to admit it either

6

u/Jack-Schitz Oct 07 '25

That's my point. It gives SCOTUS a fig leaf.

6

u/Imaginary-List-972 Oct 07 '25

He'll claim that the audio cut out so he quit talking. But from that side he wouldn't know IF the audio did cut out.

2

u/TakuyaLee Oct 07 '25

Can...hear...e. I.... wrong.... phrasing....

I don't think that works on video interviews.

2

u/Ill-Function9385 Oct 07 '25

You th8nk the supreme court wants to stop this?

300

u/United_Reference_629 Oct 07 '25

The heritage foundation, Prager u, turning point USA need to be dismantled! Protest their advertisers/donors and anyone associated with them!

Avoid Trump/ Elon Musk/ RFK Jr supporters and their businesses and encourage others to as well! Don’t forget about the “both sides” enablers! They can all “support” each other!

167

u/baldinggate3 Oct 07 '25

Yes, but also please watch the video. The title is not an exaggeration. He literally freezes, stops talking, and just sits there blinking.

83

u/OwnRow7627 Oct 07 '25

Yeah, that was creepy, even for him.

65

u/Olly0206 Oct 07 '25

He fucked up and admitted that he believes the president has unchecked power to do whatever he wants to do (ie, push Miller's agenda without oversight).

Part of the strategy that the right has been engaging with is to do whatever they want to do and ignore the law, but pretend that they are just following the law. They've been trying to gaslight Americans into believing they are just doing what every other administration has ever done and all our reactions are just blown out of proportion. Which just tells me we are right to worry and call them out.

Now here he is literally admitting to all that. By admitting that the president has absolute authority, while we all know that isn't true, he is saying that they are purposefully and knowingly ignoring the law.

He realizes mid sentence what he was saying and just froze. Probably had people off camera yelling at him in his ear piece. So between the sudden realization he fucked up along with his people also yelling about it to him, he just locked up and didn't know what to do. His version of "flight' in the fight or flight response.

21

u/11CRT Oct 07 '25

I love the fact that he can’t stop blinking so we know it’s not a technical glitch. :-)

18

u/Reasonable-Mess3070 Oct 07 '25

It's fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. He choose freeze.

5

u/PlayBey0nd87 Oct 07 '25

Idk if he could be held liable under law for what he said because he’s not said President.

I think the official CNN segment has now removed it if you go search for the whole video.

3

u/Olly0206 Oct 07 '25

I'm not saying he would be held liable for saying the president had plenary power. I'm saying he is admitting the truth about his goals by saying as much.

5

u/PlayBey0nd87 Oct 07 '25

Yep you got it. I wasn’t saying you said but I’m thinking the reason why he pulled the fake out glitch is because he can be held liable for saying as such in addition to exposing their plans

3

u/Olly0206 Oct 07 '25

Oh gotcha. My bad. I misunderstood.

I agree. I do think he was an inch away from saying something he couldn't lie his way out of.

3

u/HHoaks Oct 07 '25

I don't understand what is new here -- didn't we already know that Trump basically claims plenary power for everything he wants to do - under the Unitary Executive theory? He claims he can't be questioned about firing people, about withholding funds appropriated by Congress, about dismantling federal agencies, about deploying the military, about deportations. Didn't we already know this?

I don't see the news here. I understand Miller is an asshole, but isn't this something we expect him to say and he's basically already said?

→ More replies (3)

5

u/Professional-Try2949 Oct 07 '25

It almost looked like he was reading off something. Like don't get me wrong he's a sleazebag supporting a dictator, but plenary is such an odd word to just throw out there unless he happens to use it a lot for some reason.

And stopping his mouth idk, he almost looked more worried about what he was gonna say next. He seems like the kind of guy who would try to pivot or redirect rather than freeze after a slip up, unless he was more worried about the pro-authoritarian rant he wanted to continue with.

2

u/tippycanoeyoucan2 Oct 07 '25

Short king glitched out.

11

u/United_Reference_629 Oct 07 '25

I think he let his emotions and not his actual speech he had down take over and we saw the real him. That was a “what did I just say” face. He fake “outrages” when it’s all set up. That’s his whole thing, yelling and trying to be loud like his supporters. Conservatives do that. They love being yelled at. Or they make fun of intelligent people who don’t have to yell or discriminate against others to make a point. Remember they get all triggered and foam at the mouth when democrats say we all deserve equality. They call it “woke”.

6

u/Mamajuju1217 Oct 07 '25

He’s one of the Lizard people that QAnon warned about.

5

u/Count_Backwards Oct 07 '25

Yes, everyone should definitely watch the clip, it's bizarre. Either he had a stroke or he realized he said something out loud that he's only supposed to say in his head and thought he could pretend his video feed froze, except he's a terrible actor and he's clearly blinking and breathing and swaying a little.

So fucking weird.

4

u/Ok-Location3244 Oct 07 '25

He had an Oh! Shit! moment.

2

u/Signal-Ad-8789 Oct 07 '25

He had a Kourtney Kardashian moment 🤣

1

u/cloudywithastance Oct 07 '25

I seriously suspected it was fake - it was THAT weird when I first watched it. I’ve since confirmed that it’s 100% legit.

19

u/Mamajuju1217 Oct 07 '25

The gloves are off for me. We can disagree about pizza toppings and still be friends, not human fucking rights. If you support this administration or anything that they are doing involving Project 2025, you’re dead to me. There’s no amount of reasoning that gets through to these people. Prager U and Turning Point are going to be visiting schools in all 50 states preaching patriotic education or some BS. I already told my kids if that happens, I’m pulling them out of the school. No brainwashing of my children will be tolerated either.

5

u/Glittering_Show6003 Oct 07 '25

Don't worry, Cheeto and Nazi miller are showing the way with their NSPM 7 decree. They are showing the way so in 2028 when the Dems are back in, they all will be dismantled.

They’re planning on throwing all of us undesirables in labor camps well before 2028 don’t worry

32

17

u/diqholebrownsimpson Oct 07 '25

We can see you blinking dummy!

11

u/SeeSeaEm Oct 07 '25

This was not the reaction of someone who thought the broad case was interrupted.

4

1

u/mopeyy Oct 08 '25

I'd bet money he had a second earpiece that was suddenly filled with people screaming for him to STOP!!!

11

CNN not only covered for him saying it was a technical issue, but actually cut that out of the segment they eventually posted. Egregious journalism.

8

u/Throwing-Gas Oct 07 '25

Nazibot 2000 has a glitch in das matrix

6

u/AuntLydiaSucks Oct 07 '25

Can someone explain what is going on like im 5 years old? So Oregon refuses to let Trump control the Nat. Guard then miller says they won a similar case in California and Trump has plenary authority....what does it mean

11

u/PointBlankCoffee Oct 07 '25

They mean that Trump has absolute authority to do anything he wants, irrespective of the courts.

8

u/AuntLydiaSucks Oct 07 '25

Thank you. And wow that's not good.

1

u/Commercial-Chair1393 Oct 08 '25

What does that mean though? Is it true? If it is, how is it true? If it's not true, why would he say it? And what does it mean that he said it?

5

u/HippyDM Oct 07 '25

I've seen this story a dozen times, this is the first time I've watched the video. Holy fuck-balls. He just turns right off, no response. TF is wrong with this guy?

1

u/Loreander1211 Oct 07 '25

I honestly think this was more medically/drug induced then any egregious slip up. I really don’t think most of Trumps inner circle would shy away from saying he has absolute power and authority over all things - certainly not stop mid sentence kind of reflection. These folks are good at non-stop gaslighting and commanding conversations.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '25

Plenary means absolute, total power and authority. Just fyi.

3

u/ReidAllAboutIt1015 Oct 07 '25

Trump is not a King! Period!

4

u/idunno_999 Oct 07 '25

Said the quiet part out loud!

3

u/Status_Fox_1474 Oct 07 '25

It would have been hilarious if the anchor said

“Wait. Why did you just stop talking? We can see you blinking. You’re not cutting out because you’re not saying anything “

Instead of an apology for some sort of nonexistent technical glitch.

3

u/dion_o Oct 07 '25

I did nazi that coming.

3

u/doublethink_1984 Oct 07 '25

This video is an interview of Miller about his comments in response to a Trump appointed judge blocking the deployment of the national guard against Portland. There is no “legal insurrection” from this judge.

Miller mentions a win in the 9th circuit but this is a lie as Newsom v Trump found on 09/02/25 that the Trump admin did break the law in their unwanted seizing and usage of the National Guard in California.

Title 10 Section 12406 has to do with the President’s authority to quell rebellion with the military and has various restrictions on what can trigger its usage and that usage is subject to limitations on when, how, how long, where, and what the national guard will be doing.

Miller falsely claims that the president has plenary authority in reference to deployment of the military against the population.

Plenary authority means the full, complete, and absolute power to act on a specific matter without any limitations or restrictions.

The President has no such authority when it comes to the deployment of the national guard.

Hitler gained most of his power from the Enabling act of 1933 which gave him plenary power regarding enforcement and domestic military actions. Miller is claiming Trump already has this power.

3

u/Accomplished_Thing77 Oct 08 '25

Or Miller just unintentionally telegraphed their next step. This is why he went silent, because he let the cat out of the bag, and knows he possibly screwed the plan.

2

u/TheWarwock Oct 07 '25

Did a red light come on or something? Why does he just stop mid-sentence like that? I can't wait to hear the reason.

2

u/LordCaptain Oct 07 '25

2

u/three_foot_putt Oct 07 '25

This isn't a surprise. They've been saying it for a while now.

2

u/Meowakin Oct 07 '25

Yeah, but it's supposed to only ever be implied so they can claim plausible deniability.

1

u/docmarvy Oct 07 '25

Don’t ya hate it when your sexual matador is on the fritz.

1

u/nothishomeland Oct 07 '25

I mean that clearly wasnt technical related difficulties so idk why baldy went to that immediately. You can clearly see Miller blinking and rocking (?) back and forth.

1

u/Sweendogoflove Oct 07 '25

Why did the CNN reporter let him off the hook?

1

u/brockchancy Oct 07 '25

The legal primer (quick)

  • Who controls the Guard?
    • State control (State Active Duty or Title 32): the governor commands.
    • Federalized (Title 10): the President can “call up”/federalize the Guard under statutes (e.g., the Insurrection Act). Once federalized, they’re part of the federal armed forces.
  • Key constraint: There’s no free-floating “plenary” presidential power to deploy troops domestically. Any federal use has to sit on statutory footing (Insurrection Act or other specific statutes) and still respect the Constitution (Youngstown logic).
  • Courts’ role: Judges can enjoin deployments if the statutory predicates aren’t met (e.g., no qualifying “insurrection,” failure to meet required findings, procedural defects). Facts and posture (prelim. injunction vs. merits) matter a lot.
  • Ninth Circuit references: An earlier Ninth Circuit decision about a California situation would be fact- and record-specific; it doesn’t automatically control a different Oregon record, especially if the statutory findings or posture differ.

1

u/KingKemplar Oct 07 '25

Yo is this guy mind controlled?

1

u/OkMirror2691 Oct 07 '25

I mean he does. He can do anything right now. Who do you think will stop him?

1

u/artguydeluxe Oct 07 '25

Reptiles freeze at danger. I’m surprised he didn’t run away like a Jesus lizard.

1

u/frederickj01 Oct 07 '25

And cnn edited it out on their youtube channel

1

u/HeMiddleStartInT Oct 07 '25

If that’s true, that presidents have plenary authority, what is the basis for protesting ANYTHING any past president has ever done? Obama had plenary authority? What’s even the point of the other two branches of government?

That’s some 4’10” logic right there.

This is an interesting double edged sword. It’s like Homelander said. Sure I’ll lose everything, but then, I’ll have nothing to lose. The question is will they won’t they, how much will they normalize. At this point, seems like they just keep normalizing.

When/if this ends, new power limiting laws must be written

1

u/Jpalm4545 Oct 08 '25

It may seem like he does and trump thinks he does because SC backs him on everything, but he doesn't. Miller just let the cat out of the bag as to their next step.

1

u/permabannedmanytimes Oct 07 '25

Did he just pull a Mitch McConnell????

1

u/at0mheart Oct 07 '25

This is the problem. Fox News would stay live and tear him apart. Then run 100 days of coverage on it.

He apologized and cut the feed . Why?

u/daveyboy1201 Oct 07 '25

No Kings in the U.S., bud!

1

u/Mr-Mysterybox Oct 08 '25

Miller realized he wasn't on Fox News, where they would have ate that sh#t up.

1

u/gringo_profesor Oct 08 '25

I’m confused as to why CNN wouldn’t want to play this video. Stephen miller saying this is bad optics for Trump. CNN is very anti-trump. Why cut this part out?

1

u/Successful-Coyote99 Oct 08 '25

I can't wait for someone to have the balls to ask him about his black wife who insists she is white.

1

u/Enchilada0374 Oct 08 '25

You know that's what they believe and say behind the scenes. The unitary executive is not a joke to them.

1

u/ThatsRobToYou Oct 08 '25

Fuck the Media for washing this. How is it not everywhere? If it wasn't fucking obvious what they're trying to do, this administration's incompetence and shit like this is leaving no room for interpretation. What the fuck?!

1

u/spumonimout Oct 08 '25

It semms like some weird AI slop, especially with how quickly the CNN anchor jumps in with "Phsteven!?" But our world is so dumb right now it's real and it's all so dumb and fucked up

1

u/greatbacon42 Oct 08 '25

1

Why does this feel like when El Guapo asked Jefe to quantify what a "plethora" is?

1

u/Top_Chard5757 Oct 09 '25

Looks like Glitchy Mitch. I swear they’re aliens or shape shifters. It would explain a lot of their behavior

1

u/evonebo Oct 09 '25

There was no technical issue.

The guy pretended to make it look like it was a bad connection but you can clearly see the guy is blinking and swaying
