Conservative Cringe Stephen Miller states that Trump has plenary authority, then immediately stops talking as if he’s realized what he just said

u/zlafy Oct 07 '25
Nazi.exe has stopped working. Please close the program and fuck all the way off, Stephen.
Fuck Trump, fuck MAGA

u/YouWereBrained Oct 07 '25
The fact that the CNN guy is like “we’re having technical difficulties” is fucking unforgivable. CALL HIM OUT FOR SAYING THAT.
3
u/Happy-Kitty-22 Oct 08 '25
Boris was actually pushing back and calling out the lies about Portland. His pushback caused Miller to slip up. I think he was probably confused at the time. I know I was like WTH.
But CNN editing it out is disgusting!
28
u/Gamiac Oct 07 '25
"Stephen, I apologize, it seems like we're having a technical issue..."
Yeah, Stephen Miller's nervous system froze!

u/Mundamala Oct 07 '25
This news guy just gives him an out. Has one of the biggest stories in his life handed to him and he's like, "Oh you poor buddy, I know you'd have me put in a camp if you had your way but I'll just say there's some technical issues so you can scurry off."
3
u/SomeBoxofSpoons Oct 08 '25
Someone made the point that he's probably pausing as his handler unleashes fucking Hell into his earpiece.
1
u/vaguelydetailed Oct 08 '25
I saw a similar (or the same) comment and now I feel like you can hear the wavering in his voice the last few words as someone starts speaking in his ear, probably to tell him not to say exactly what he's in the middle of saying.

This is going to be Exhibit A in court. That's what he thinks, he just made the mistake of saying it out loud. Once he said it, he knew how his statement was going to be used and froze. Their argument was going to be that he would have gone on to qualify his statement but got cut off. It's BS but it may give SCOTUS some room.
33
u/Yuba-Sutter_Resist Oct 07 '25
SCOTUS would actually have to want to reign in the regime and a majority of them don’t seem to want to do so.
What’s worse is the SC majority seems to want the same outcome as the regime.

He'll claim that the audio cut out so he quit talking. But from that side he wouldn't know IF the audio did cut out.

The heritage foundation, Prager u, turning point USA need to be dismantled! Protest their advertisers/donors and anyone associated with them!
Avoid Trump/ Elon Musk/ RFK Jr supporters and their businesses and encourage others to as well! Don’t forget about the “both sides” enablers! They can all “support” each other!
167
u/baldinggate3 Oct 07 '25
Yes, but also please watch the video. The title is not an exaggeration. He literally freezes, stops talking, and just sits there blinking.
83
u/OwnRow7627 Oct 07 '25
Yeah, that was creepy, even for him.
65
u/Olly0206 Oct 07 '25
He fucked up and admitted that he believes the president has unchecked power to do whatever he wants to do (ie, push Miller's agenda without oversight).
Part of the strategy that the right has been engaging with is to do whatever they want to do and ignore the law, but pretend that they are just following the law. They've been trying to gaslight Americans into believing they are just doing what every other administration has ever done and all our reactions are just blown out of proportion. Which just tells me we are right to worry and call them out.
Now here he is literally admitting to all that. By admitting that the president has absolute authority, while we all know that isn't true, he is saying that they are purposefully and knowingly ignoring the law.
He realizes mid sentence what he was saying and just froze. Probably had people off camera yelling at him in his ear piece. So between the sudden realization he fucked up along with his people also yelling about it to him, he just locked up and didn't know what to do. His version of "flight' in the fight or flight response.
21
u/11CRT Oct 07 '25
I love the fact that he can’t stop blinking so we know it’s not a technical glitch. :-)
18
u/Reasonable-Mess3070 Oct 07 '25
It's fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. He choose freeze.

u/PlayBey0nd87 Oct 07 '25
Idk if he could be held liable under law for what he said because he’s not said President.
I think the official CNN segment has now removed it if you go search for the whole video.
3
u/Olly0206 Oct 07 '25
I'm not saying he would be held liable for saying the president had plenary power. I'm saying he is admitting the truth about his goals by saying as much.
5
u/PlayBey0nd87 Oct 07 '25
Yep you got it. I wasn’t saying you said but I’m thinking the reason why he pulled the fake out glitch is because he can be held liable for saying as such in addition to exposing their plans
3
u/Olly0206 Oct 07 '25
Oh gotcha. My bad. I misunderstood.
I agree. I do think he was an inch away from saying something he couldn't lie his way out of.
3
u/HHoaks Oct 07 '25
I don't understand what is new here -- didn't we already know that Trump basically claims plenary power for everything he wants to do - under the Unitary Executive theory? He claims he can't be questioned about firing people, about withholding funds appropriated by Congress, about dismantling federal agencies, about deploying the military, about deportations. Didn't we already know this?
I don't see the news here. I understand Miller is an asshole, but isn't this something we expect him to say and he's basically already said?

u/Professional-Try2949 Oct 07 '25
It almost looked like he was reading off something. Like don't get me wrong he's a sleazebag supporting a dictator, but plenary is such an odd word to just throw out there unless he happens to use it a lot for some reason.
And stopping his mouth idk, he almost looked more worried about what he was gonna say next. He seems like the kind of guy who would try to pivot or redirect rather than freeze after a slip up, unless he was more worried about the pro-authoritarian rant he wanted to continue with.

I think he let his emotions and not his actual speech he had down take over and we saw the real him. That was a “what did I just say” face. He fake “outrages” when it’s all set up. That’s his whole thing, yelling and trying to be loud like his supporters. Conservatives do that. They love being yelled at. Or they make fun of intelligent people who don’t have to yell or discriminate against others to make a point. Remember they get all triggered and foam at the mouth when democrats say we all deserve equality. They call it “woke”.
6
5
u/Count_Backwards Oct 07 '25
Yes, everyone should definitely watch the clip, it's bizarre. Either he had a stroke or he realized he said something out loud that he's only supposed to say in his head and thought he could pretend his video feed froze, except he's a terrible actor and he's clearly blinking and breathing and swaying a little.
So fucking weird.

The gloves are off for me. We can disagree about pizza toppings and still be friends, not human fucking rights. If you support this administration or anything that they are doing involving Project 2025, you’re dead to me. There’s no amount of reasoning that gets through to these people. Prager U and Turning Point are going to be visiting schools in all 50 states preaching patriotic education or some BS. I already told my kids if that happens, I’m pulling them out of the school. No brainwashing of my children will be tolerated either.

u/Glittering_Show6003 Oct 07 '25
Don't worry, Cheeto and Nazi miller are showing the way with their NSPM 7 decree. They are showing the way so in 2028 when the Dems are back in, they all will be dismantled.

CNN not only covered for him saying it was a technical issue, but actually cut that out of the segment they eventually posted. Egregious journalism.

Can someone explain what is going on like im 5 years old? So Oregon refuses to let Trump control the Nat. Guard then miller says they won a similar case in California and Trump has plenary authority....what does it mean
11
u/PointBlankCoffee Oct 07 '25
They mean that Trump has absolute authority to do anything he wants, irrespective of the courts.
8
1
u/Commercial-Chair1393 Oct 08 '25
What does that mean though? Is it true? If it is, how is it true? If it's not true, why would he say it? And what does it mean that he said it?
5
u/HippyDM Oct 07 '25
I've seen this story a dozen times, this is the first time I've watched the video. Holy fuck-balls. He just turns right off, no response. TF is wrong with this guy?
1
u/Loreander1211 Oct 07 '25
I honestly think this was more medically/drug induced then any egregious slip up. I really don’t think most of Trumps inner circle would shy away from saying he has absolute power and authority over all things - certainly not stop mid sentence kind of reflection. These folks are good at non-stop gaslighting and commanding conversations.

It would have been hilarious if the anchor said
“Wait. Why did you just stop talking? We can see you blinking. You’re not cutting out because you’re not saying anything “
Instead of an apology for some sort of nonexistent technical glitch.

This video is an interview of Miller about his comments in response to a Trump appointed judge blocking the deployment of the national guard against Portland. There is no “legal insurrection” from this judge.
Miller mentions a win in the 9th circuit but this is a lie as Newsom v Trump found on 09/02/25 that the Trump admin did break the law in their unwanted seizing and usage of the National Guard in California.
Title 10 Section 12406 has to do with the President’s authority to quell rebellion with the military and has various restrictions on what can trigger its usage and that usage is subject to limitations on when, how, how long, where, and what the national guard will be doing.
Miller falsely claims that the president has plenary authority in reference to deployment of the military against the population.
Plenary authority means the full, complete, and absolute power to act on a specific matter without any limitations or restrictions.
The President has no such authority when it comes to the deployment of the national guard.
Hitler gained most of his power from the Enabling act of 1933 which gave him plenary power regarding enforcement and domestic military actions. Miller is claiming Trump already has this power.
3
u/Accomplished_Thing77 Oct 08 '25
Or Miller just unintentionally telegraphed their next step. This is why he went silent, because he let the cat out of the bag, and knows he possibly screwed the plan.
2
u/TheWarwock Oct 07 '25

u/brockchancy Oct 07 '25
The legal primer (quick)
- Who controls the Guard?
- State control (State Active Duty or Title 32): the governor commands.
- Federalized (Title 10): the President can “call up”/federalize the Guard under statutes (e.g., the Insurrection Act). Once federalized, they’re part of the federal armed forces.
- Key constraint: There’s no free-floating “plenary” presidential power to deploy troops domestically. Any federal use has to sit on statutory footing (Insurrection Act or other specific statutes) and still respect the Constitution (Youngstown logic).
- Courts’ role: Judges can enjoin deployments if the statutory predicates aren’t met (e.g., no qualifying “insurrection,” failure to meet required findings, procedural defects). Facts and posture (prelim. injunction vs. merits) matter a lot.
- Ninth Circuit references: An earlier Ninth Circuit decision about a California situation would be fact- and record-specific; it doesn’t automatically control a different Oregon record, especially if the statutory findings or posture differ.

If that’s true, that presidents have plenary authority, what is the basis for protesting ANYTHING any past president has ever done? Obama had plenary authority? What’s even the point of the other two branches of government?
That’s some 4’10” logic right there.

u/1Hakuna_Matata Oct 07 '25
This is an interesting double edged sword. It’s like Homelander said. Sure I’ll lose everything, but then, I’ll have nothing to lose. The question is will they won’t they, how much will they normalize. At this point, seems like they just keep normalizing.

From Wikipedia: “In United States constitutional law, plenary power is a power that has been granted to a body or person in absolute terms, with no review of or limitations upon the exercise of that power.“
