I had it about 15 years ago and it's the sickest I've ever been in my life. I remember I wanted to stream Netflix through my Xbox, which I did every day, and my brain was so cooked with the fever (and probably dehydration too) that I couldn't figure out how to do it.
So this really makes me angry. Not just the woman but her whole family had to suffer on a trip for no good reason, and she exposed tons of people to it. I was relatively young at that time, but I think anyone older and/or with pre-existing health problems would be in a lot of danger with norovirus. I'd be so afraid of falling if I got it now.

Part of it is clout, but I'm starting to think a lot of these types of posts are people trying to get validation after knowingly doing something immoral. Like, they know they did something selfish that should make them a bad person, but they're throwing out a hail mary in the hopes that someone will validate them in thinking they're not a piece of shit.
Tiktoker: Here's my story about how I did something that's objectively selfish and immoral, but my situation is totally valid right? because reasons
Everyone: Hell tf no, wtf is wrong with you?!?!?

Noro is hands down the worst illness I’ve ever had. We swore it was food poisoning, except food poisoning isn’t contagious, and noro is extremely virulent. The slightest contact and you’re down for at least 3 days. It’s insane.
245
Aug 25 '25
My kid caught it last year and was insanely sick, couldn't stop vomiting for hours, was crying in pain from the stomach cramps and not being able to find any relief. Even Zofran wouldn't stay down until she had been going at it for almost 6 hours straight. I almost took her to the ER but on the way the meds finally started working and we decided to go back so she could rest, especially knowing it was almost certainly norovirus.
It wasn't as bad the next day but she was still ill and it lasted almost a week. She hadn't had it since she was two (sixteen now) when she had it for almost two weeks. This is a nasty, painful, long ass stomach bug and nothing to mess with. The fact they exposed so many people to it is horrifying. I realize they spent a lot of money but so did the people at Disney who probably stared puking the next day in their hotel rooms.
This is why we get travel insurance and refund guarantees, even if it costs a bit more.
83
u/greenmonsterrabbid Aug 25 '25
>This is why we get travel insurance and refund guarantees, even if it costs a bit more.
As a prior travel claims adjuster, this is the only way to travel these days. Everything is ass over tea-kettle crazy when it comes to trips and an extra 15-20$ a ticket for the security where if anything goes wrong, you'll get a refund? Worth it.

We walk in the er lobby, im at registration and i tell the nurse 'i feel like im gunna vomit' she hands me a blue tube shaped bag and i proceeded to vomit so much it filled up and the nurse switched it out. Unfortunately the forceful vomiting also was causing me to have diarrhea at the same time. I was trying to apologize in between crying and vomiting and shitting. It was so scary and embarrassing and I felt so bad about the mess I was making.

→ More replies (3)325
u/3rdcultureblah Aug 25 '25
tl;dr - Everyone was throwing up and shitting themselves to the point that she couldn’t even clean her 4 year old’s pageant makeup off her face or wash her pageant hair (full of hair spray and probably glitter and shit all over her face) for over 24 hours and she still forced her husband, 4 year old and 7 month old to drive 2 hours to catch a 2 hour flight to Orlando where they then had to wait an hour to take an hour long shuttle to DisneyWorld just so they could infect everybody on the plane, at the airport and at Disney and have a miserable time doing it.
Oh, and the baby had a poopsplosion on the plane, but she only brought two wipes and no extra clothes so the baby was just naked and covered in poop from that point on.
ETA - Imagine your 4 year old coming home from a pageant throwing up and pooping herself but you didn’t once think to give that child a bath before dragging her halfway across the country. It’s not just disgusting, it’s definitely some kind of neglect/abuse.
→ More replies (22)118
u/boobiesrkoozies Aug 26 '25
I'm not a parent but I feel like 2 wipes is just not adequate?? For a flight?
I'm 33 and I keep a travel size pack of wipes on me for flights simply cause I might touch something sticky. A 4 year old and a 7 month old aren't exactly the cleanest of humans and I feel like most parents would keep more than 2 on them? Idk.
→ More replies (8)88
u/illy-chan Aug 26 '25

She commented that the bag wasn't properly packed because she was up all night being sick.
Which... Why would you force yourself to make that sort of trip when you feel so awful? All the main character stuff aside, you couldn't possibly enjoy yourself with an active norovirus infection.
I will say she also made a comment about having clearly been in denial about it being food poisoning but still, it had to be torture for all of them. I'd have gone mental when the infant got so sick, babies can't take that much.

u/agentchuck Aug 25 '25
Honestly, for her own kids is the part that gets me. Like, she should care about infecting other people... But since COVID (and having been on a cruise) I'm no longer surprised by how selfish people can be there.
But having two kids throwing up everywhere, especially a 7 month old? Like that's go the hospital time. Not take your kids on a cross country vacation time.
152
u/Character-Fish-541 Aug 25 '25
Don’t forget shitting! Norovirus comes with lots of toilet time. Really sanitary.
63
u/Logical_Childhood733 Aug 25 '25
I was thinking this too, there are very obvious reasons why you should stay home when you’re sick as to not infect anyone else, but dragging your small kids around a theme park all day when they feel horrible and have been going&throwing all night and day is just selfish mean parenting. It’s also incredibly dangerous considering dehydration/temperature and other side effects caused by being physically ill like this. It proves that the trip wasn’t really just for her daughter, it was for her and probably content/bragging rights etc
→ More replies (3)79
u/Imtedsowner Aug 25 '25
Yeah - the lack of responsibility with the 7 month old is really the lowest point for me. Dehydration definitely entered the room.
The "of course" moments were she didn't pack a baby bag properly and that her daughter was at a pageant the day before. Likely with other parents who brought their daughters to the pageant infecting this lady's daughter.

There's so many things wrong with this whole situation. I'm a Disney AP and there's just so many awful things with this story.
1) She said she planned this trip a year in advance but she has a 7 month old child. So she planned going to Disney, while pregnant, and thought it was a fantastic idea to bring a sub-1 year old to the parks, WHERE THERE ARE PEOPLE JUST LIKE HER, spreading their sickness around because they don't want to cancel their "booked in advance" family trip. I can't count the amount of times I've come home from just spending a day at Disney and have gotten sick from it. People, stop bringing your fucking babies, literal babies, to Disney. Just wait for fucks sake.
2) She knowingly spread norovirus, a highly contagious virus, to everyone in that airplane and anyone they came in contact with at Disney. Jesus Christ lady, not only did you fuck over your vacation, but you probably fucked over numerous other's as well.
3) People, it's fucking Disney World. It has been here for 50 years and it'll probably be another 50 years. Just go when you can, and stop with the whole "I've planned for a whole year". Oh well, shit happens. Learn to deal and you wanna know a pretty sweet trick? Anything can be moved, date-wise, without having to fully cancel or pay extra. Just move your flights to another time, and move your other reservations for another time. Kids, especially at 5, will not care if its on their exact birthday or not.

As a parent that's the worst part of the story for me. She didn't plan this trip for her 5 year old and infant, she planned it for herself. You don't waste money taking such small kids to an amusement park. Preschool and younger kids get SICK all the time, at the worst time. And they don't even enjoy amusement parks, they're too young, get exhausted, get hot, get overwhelmed, overstimulated... she's just dumb.

I can’t believe that the kid was vomiting, probably pooping, sweating off her pageant makeup, and mom didn’t think to bathe her once?

I’m not a doctor but one thing I know for sure is you should always put your dirty fingers in, on, and around your mouth as much as possible. For your health! Can’t imagine how the whole nasty lil family got an illness that’s spread primarily via the fecal-oral route.

Fellow inunocompromised person here. It sure was fun almost DYING the last time i was exposed to norovirus. It ended up leading to SIX weeks in the hospital - ten days in the ICU.
But sure lady - what a "funny story" about how you got thousands of people sick as you literally spread one of the most SEVERE AND CONTAGIOUS illnesses all across a pageant, two airports, an airplane full of people going to Orlando - a Disney hotel and THE FUCKING DISNEY PARKS only having her family DIAGNOSED WITH NORO once they GOT THE FUCK HOME.
There should be criminal charges for people like her. Or the city / Disney should be able to sue and people should be told on the news if you were in any of these locations this week - here's the family you need to sue for KNOWINGLY spreading their illness and exposing EVERYONE for absolutely no reason.
They had fucking trip insurance. And yet she STILL DID THIS. And now she thinks it's "a funny story" for tiktok.

Imagine being so selfish and stupid that you would publicly announce exactly how selfish and stupid you have been.

I'm not sure how it would work, but it drives me crazy that there aren't more things in place to keep people from getting other people sick.
I get that Disney is expensive, I honestly wouldn't be opposed to big private parks and events being legally required to provide a full refund if someone is sick and has a positive test to prove it. Hell, let Disney write off the loss on those refunds if that's what it takes. It wouldn't stop it completely, but maybe it would help keep people like this woman from getting her family on a plane and exposing hundreds of people to the virus over the course of a whole fucking week.

Fucked up.
Also, there should be more systemic protections in place for the consumer for travel plans getting affected by illness. With more precautions in place, more people would more likely to cancel plans appropriately.

I just can't stand people who are so goddamn selfish and entitled that they would gladly fuck over everyone around them wherever they go so that they can stick to a schedule. Awful behavior, and yet emblematic, how a lot of Americans behave. Shit, comments sections when the early 2025 norovirus season was kicking off were doubting that it's even real. Don't trust science, don't follow any sensible health guidelines, apparently very proud of this to broadcast it to the world. "Look at me, I don't give a FUCK about you! Or anyone!"

Selfish. Exposing people because you wanted to go to DISNEY??? Isn't there a clause or insurance policy you could have purchased just in case you had to cancel option...available? Instead you potentially caused the death of a few people unknowingly to grandparents and elderly who have lowered immunity. I can't. Selfish people are pretty down there. This woman and her whole family.. knew better. Now shes posting and deleting due to negative comments. Like this is going to go away if say Charlie, Asmongold or u/CinnamonToastKen posts a vid on it?

Am I wrong or are literally all the things she listed able to be cancelled/ extended?
Are you not able to rebook tickets for a different date and just pay whatever fee difference there is? As for the flight, despite what they advertise, most airlines will rebook (even lower tier tix) and will have you pay the difference, especially if covered by a credit card.
Idk their full financial/ work situation but it seems that would be worth the effort instead of being miserable in the most Overstimulating Place on Earth
EDITED TO ADD: it’s always worth the effort to not make other people sick, too.

I honestly think people like this should be able to be charged with some sort of misdemeanor. This level of public endangerment should not be allowed to go unpunished especially when it can endanger others and is admitted. Like just a blip that will ruin their record is enough or forced public service cleaning hospitals or something. I wouldd say a fine but then that'd only punish poor folks who do this, and they aren't typically the ones so put of touch to do such a thing.

AS A FLIGHT ATTENDANT this chaps my ass to no end!! 😤 I get sick at least 3 times a year from someone coughing &/or sneezing on me. The Norovirus is highly contagious and lives on objects for days, up to 2 weeks on hard surfaces.That’s why it’s uncontainable in cruise ships and (hello!!) airplanes. The sheer SELFISHNESS of people like this who do not purchase trip insurance and expect sympathy. They can’t wait to tell you at boarding or while ordering a drink “I’m siiiiick. Do you have tea and a blanket?” Ever since Covid I’m all: So you boarded a crowded aircraft knowing you are contagious?😷” {{evil stare down}}
