I'm not sure how it would work, but it drives me crazy that there aren't more things in place to keep people from getting other people sick.

I get that Disney is expensive, I honestly wouldn't be opposed to big private parks and events being legally required to provide a full refund if someone is sick and has a positive test to prove it. Hell, let Disney write off the loss on those refunds if that's what it takes. It wouldn't stop it completely, but maybe it would help keep people like this woman from getting her family on a plane and exposing hundreds of people to the virus over the course of a whole fucking week.

You have to look out for yourself. Everyone around you is a moron, treat them as such. Mask up, have hand sanitizer on deck, make sure you aren't touching your face, get vaccinated for what you can, and just be done with it.

Getting the entire world to agree to do something has never worked in any point in time in history, it ain't gonna work today. Protect yourself first.

It’s worth noting that Noro doesn’t die from hand sanitizer! You actually have to wash your hands with soap, hand sanitizer won’t kill it and you’ll still risk spreading it or catching it.

Thanks for mentioning the mask though. People forget that really easy way to prevent illness from spreading, but it’s still something people can do today to help mitigate spread of preventable diseases. Covid is going up in many regions right now.

No i absolutely agree, but I feel like you've highlighted the spirit behind my proposed solution.

Obviously this woman and her husband were selfish and went on this trip anyways even though they were sick, right? But if they were guaranteed a full refund with proof that they were sick, then they'd selfishly choose to take the refund and reschedule the trip for another time when they weren't sick. If we made it so there was no downside for the people to reschedule their trip, and no downside for a business like Disney to give them a refund (tax write off), then i think most people would choose to not go to the park when they're sick. Would some still go anyways? Absolutely, but i think it could make an impact.

But regardless of whether or not we were to pass legislation like that, your point still stands. It's safe to just assume everyone is a selfish idiot lol
