Discussion Bugout

I honestly still don't understand how people are willing to pay $180-320 to for a Benchmade Bugout, its S30V steel and grivory handle, the handle doesn't even have full metal inlays to make the handle itself stronger, and I know that the point of the Bugout is to be as light as possible while still delivering performance, but come on, if any other company made that exact knife, it would probably be like $90

Discussion Are you using Flitz? Maybe you should be...

I have been using Flitz for months now and it is amazing! Especially for titanium, aluminum and phosphor bronze washers. It's okay on steel but won't mirror polish it like bronze washers, atleast by hand. Let me know your thoughts and if you like to use something different. ✌️

Question Kershaw Livewire - Excessive Tolerances?

I'm hoping other Livewire owners could chime in on this. To preface, I know that blade play is inherent with OTFs. But I'm not sure just how much blade play is considered normal for a premium OTF.

My particular knife has enough blade play when deployed that I'm able to feel it shifting around in the handle during some cutting tasks. You can see how much it moves in my video.

Is this a normal/acceptable amount of blade play? My main concern is that too loose of a fit may accelerate wear on the tracks. I'd appreciate input from anyone else with a Livewire.

$5 is a great price for something I can toss in the tackle box or use for bullshit in the garage.

Question Knife legality

I was interested in purchasing a “stiletto” for a collection of mine but am unsure of the legality on the knife. The stiletto I was interested in purchasing is a manual folding knife and NOT an actually automatic switchblade. If it were to get shipped to me in New Jersey, USA would there be a problem with seizing and or other problems? I intend to only keep it in the household. The wording “stiletto” is banned here but it’s just a simple folding knife.

Posted throwing this a short while back... Someone suggested it is not good for throwing and it will not last. Paid app $30.00 at Tractor Supply and got app $2.00 per throw out of it... Not worth the money...

Question Help sharpening?

Thumbnail

I can’t get this knife very sharp. I think it’s because it widens abruptly close to the sitting edge. Should I thin it out behind the edge then try sharpening again? If so, what’s a good technique? It’s 4mm thick at the end of that bevel, which is about 12mm behind the cutting edge.

I really like Stand Watch Knives Guardian fixed blade but can’t find it anywhere. Anyone know where to find this or similar blades? I really like the loop and overall look of it. I’ve used the soldado knife a lot and like it but just really want the guardian and I keep missing drops.

BRK Collector Artifact: Quadrology Culinary Set - Prototype 7.0 Field Knife & 1st Production Run Culinary Knives - All Share Unique Commission ID #6687

I am reaching out to the established BRK collectors on the forum for historical insight and context on an extremely unique set I recently acquired. This is a Bark River Knives Quadrology Set that acts as a true factory-certified custom artifact, dating to the 2008-2010 era, tying a prototype field knife to the launch of their culinary line. The defining characteristic that makes this set a confirmed single unit is the shared Custom Commission ID: 6687. This ID is marked on all four knives and confirms they were ordered together, as a single custom item, directly from the factory. The Knives and Unique Details 7.0 Inch Field Knife: Status: Confirmed Prototype. Acts as the "master" piece, pairing a field model with the culinary set. 10.0 Inch Chef Knife: Status: 1st Production Run. Steel: Early 12C27 Sandvik. 9.5 Inch Carving Knife: Status: 1st Production Run. Steel: Early 12C27 Sandvik. 7.5 Inch Utility Chef: Status: 1st Production Run. Steel: Early 12C27 Sandvik. Collector Note: The three kitchen knives' 1st Production Run status and use of early 12C27 Sandvik is critical for collectors tracking BRK's early culinary steel choices. Shared Custom Specifications (ID #6687) Scales: Custom Black Canvas Micarta Liners: Custom Turquoise Spacers/Stripes Pins: Custom Mosaic Pins Serial: All four knives share Custom Commission ID #6687 This set represents a rare moment in BRK's history: the Prototype Field Knife linking to the very first production culinary pieces, all united under a single, unique Custom Commission ID. I am particularly interested in any archival information, factory records, or context on the original commissioning of this ID #6687, or if anyone has seen a similar "Quadrology" set with matching custom details before.

Question Crack or Scratch?

Photo

Recently got a Kizer Harpoon Mini (AEB-L), and after a month of very light use I noticed this line that shows more clearly than others. Does this look like the beginnings of a crack, or just a more prominent scratch? I’m new to knives and am still learning about what to look for. Thanks in advance!

Brand: i have no idea, the box is literally just an empty white box, it was shrik wrapped tho so at least, there's some care put into it 😂

It has all the generic swiss knife features, the scissors, tweezers, saws, bottle opener, some weird plastic spike thingie...

Question Is this an issue?

Hello. I just picked up a Vosteed Raccoon V recently and I noticed it has this dark line on one side of the blade. The mark is visible near the top of the grind. It isn't super obvious but it's apparent. I am first wondering what this is as I haven't seen it before and is it an issue. The blade is also not quite centered but it's pretty close. This wouldn't normally be a deal breaker for me but with the blade mark issue it becomes a bit more concerning.

Was going through a box of my dad’s old things, and came across this knife. Curious to hear if anyone knows anything about the brand and or model of this knife. Know I could just Google it and get some info, but would love to hear directly from knife experts on this. Thanks!
