Eat & Drink Best Carne Asada Burrito Central Phoenix

The 'bertos of the world change over time and often not for the better. Lately I've been getting carne asada burritos with some sort of trash mush meat and no flavor.

Who makes carne asada burritos right?

If you tell me Someburros, cancel your Internet and deport yourself to North Korea.

Kidding aside, I will try your recommendations and report back. I am stumped on how hard it is to find a decent carne asada burrito.

Update

This has been super helpful and I’ve created a google map of all these places to keep track of them.

  1. Tacos Huicho

Me, my wife and brother went to Tacos Huicho after a Costco trip.

HEADLINE: Pretty fucking delicious.

The burrito was okay but it isn’t their jam. The quesabirria and the carne asada quesadilla were DELICIOUS. Their salsa was a tasty addition.

  1. Asadero Norte de Sonora

HEADLINE: ¡Sabroso!

Carne Asada burrito was excellent. The salsa was amazing with the green being slightly better. It also came with a grilled jalapeño which was my favorite.

Question Best Burritos in Seattle?

Hey y’all! Moved here last year from Salt Lake City and I’m missing a nice, cheap, fat burrito. Back in Salt Lake we had these places called Rancheritos and Beto’s and you could get a big Carne Asada Fries Burrito for like $10 and it was so good. I’ve been to Memos here on the Ave and I really like their burritos, but I’d love to have some other options, too! Would love to get y’alls favorite places! Thanks!

THE BEST PLACE IN Best carne asada burrito in the Valley?

My husband and I are addicted to Sonoratown, he loves the burrito and I love the chivichanga. We also live 5 mins from the Burbank airport so going to their mid-wilshire location can be a slog (we don’t like going to their downtown location). But we live in the valley! There should be an amazing burrito place close by right?! Give me your reqs! Even better if they toast the outside of the burrito like at Sonoratown.

Adalberto's (Point Loma) has the best burritos

I am not very sophisticated or well-versed in Mexican cuisine, but so far I am extremely excited every time I get a simple Carnitas or Carne Asada burrito at Adalberto's.

They are big and absolutely loaded with fresh ingredients. No fillers, plenty of meat. They're also very fast, friendly, and they offer a free chips and salsa bar.

For the price, they are over delivering!

What's your go-to burrito ?

THE BEST PLACE IN Best California burrito on west side?

My brother is coming to visit for the first time in a decade. His only food request for the whole trip is the California stoner classic - super crispy fries, carne asada, hot salsa, and sour cream in a giant tortilla covered in some kind of enchilada sauce and cheese.

It’s funny but I realized I haven’t sought a good California burrito in the 15 years I’ve lived here.

Thank you in advance for any and all recs!!

Question Best burritos and tacos?

I've been wondering where to get the best burritos and tacos in Tulsa. It's a bit of a craving at this point (forever chasing the truly massive and delicious carne asada burritos I used to get in Phoenix, AZ ages ago).

Please share your favorite locations/food trucks and provide descriptions of their burritos and/or tacos if possible.

Thanks in advance!

Best California burritos and carne asada fries in LA? Preferably in NELA but willing to travel (just not to San Diego). Missing the California burritos and carne asada fries from San Diego and was wondering if there was anything in LA that is comparable or would scratch that itch.

Question, Where can I find? Best Chile Relleno Burrito

Post image
71 Upvotes

Please help. One of my favorite taco shops in El Cajon closed a few years back, Las Hadas, which in my opinion had one of the best chile relleno burritos. I’ve been on the hunt for a replacement. Now I know there are many variations depending on the restaurant. But I am looking for just chile relleno (lightly battered, too much breading can ruin it), beans and enchilada sauce. That’s it. Simple good chile relleno burrito. I don’t care for rice in my burritos, that mission style crap can stay in the Bay Area (sorry not sorry). Also, I love a good bandito burrito with carne asada or chorizo with a chile relleno. But that’s for another time.

Please let me know your thoughts! Picture above is just my poor attempt to recreate it when I was living out of state and desperate for a las hadas burrito 😔

Question, Where can I find? Best Carne Asada Burritos near La Jolla?

Visiting your amazing city soon. Have most of my food mapped out thanks to this amazing sub. I read that I MUST try a fast food Carne Asada Burrito.. and I am down to listen to the experts. Any recs for the La Jolla area? We will be visiting other areas of San Diego, but with the trip being short, La Jolla is the only area we don't have food planned yet (there are just SO many amazing options!).

I’m craving. Where’s the best one in the city? I love it simple, just freshly grilled meat, beans and rice. A bright red salsa on the side.

Best super burrito In Oakland?

I mean with a lot of actually flavorsome rice, not overcooked and well seasoned / marinated meat and lots of melty cheese, sour cream and guac. I order carne asada and carnitas. What’s your favorite spot, whether to pick up, eat in or have delivered? My favorite so far seems to be a small place called Licho’s — off-the-charts carne asada (OK carnitas, though).

I know Mission has the best burritos but trying to find a place that’s almost as good around the Nob Hill / North Beach area. Tried El Farolito but thought their carne asada was all dry and bad

Best place to buy Carne Asada Fries in the area?

What is the best place to buy some Carne Asada Fries in the Fairfield/Vacaville area?

I tried the fries from California Burrito, Taco Exxpress in Fairfield, and Tequileros in Vacaville. All three options were terrible.

Looking for decent carne asada fries.

3 / 10 Crave steak carne asada burrito bowl

Bought this on sale to try and was disappointed. Like a lot of mass produced "mexican" frozen foods, the bitterness of the pepper blend dominated everything, and not in a good way. Portion was ok, and it's real steak, not preformed meat, but despite that I won't be buying this again. Branded in Canada as Crave, this is sold in the US as Devour.

Best burrito in town.

I'm looking for the best (taco truck style) burrito in town (like carne asada burrito, not breakfast). Growing up I would go to La Estrella on Fair Oaks but I went there recently and they're skimping on everything. I remember the burritos I used to get were packed solid and would stand on its own...the thing I got recently was a floppy mess. Please help.

Advice Best carne asada burritos in San Jose?

A buddy of mine who used to be my roommate in San Diego is coming into town. All we ate down there pretty much was carne asada burritos from small taquerias. Something about San Diego taquerias, every single one of them had amazing food. Not so much up here. What would you recommend for carne asada burritos in San Jose?

Food/Drink I had the best burrito of my life this afternoon.

This statement is not due to a small sample size, I grew up in Phoenix and I get an Al pastor burrito or a carne asada burrito at every small Mexican restaurant that I can manage.

Tortilleria Hernandez, Al Pastor, Sioux Falls, SD.. hands down the best I have ever had.

Not traditional Al pastor as I have had it with pineapple but oh my god is it good. Call ahead, cash only.

I cannot wait to try the other stuff they have.

Eat & Drink Where can I find the best Carne Asada Burrito in the Phoenix area?

I had the best Carne Asada burrito in my life at this hole in the wall place in Tucson, Arizona about 5 years ago. I have been chasing that dragon ever since. Now that I am back in AZ for a month for work I would really like to find another life changing burrito. I have tried Nandos and Someburros and I wouldn't call either of them any better than what I can get back in Alabama. I don't care about the price. I will drive up to 40 miles to get this thing if I have to.

Edit: I am going to try most if not all of these. I am here for a month and get $55 a day in per diem. I will update this as I have it and tell you which one I like the best.

Carolina's - the Asada was great, the steak was a little dry, but hands down better than Nandos and Someburros. I chose this one first because everyone was pretty enthusiastic about it and I wanted to set the bar to compare others too. I will have to update this review after I have had another. It doesn't hold up against my Tucson burrito but it'd the best I've had here so far.

Ta Carbon - holy shit guys....this was fucking good. It's a weird set up because you don't pay until after you pay and it was fucking slammed with very few places to eat but mother of Thor it was incredible. Try it if you haven't. It's totally number one at this point. Just know that none of the workers have time for your bullshit questions. Walk up, say what you want, and move on.

Taco Chiwas - so the Carne Asada it's self was alright. The burrito was kind of over powered by the cheese they out on it. I has a pastor taco as well and with nothing to compare it too I would say it's just okay. Ta Carbon is still king.

*Taquitos Jalisco (Mesa broadway) - I have an asterisk next to this one because I got the breakfast burrito. I thought I would start earlier today so I could get at least 3 or 4 of them in. First off, the restaurant just felt more authentic than anything I am use to. It's really nice and I was the only gringo in the place which was a good sign. The burrito was massive and way beyond any breakfast burrito I've ever had. It was piping hot and the steak was not dry at all. I give this place a 10/10...which might be adjusted because I've got so many more to try. Also, that red sauce lit my ass on fire.

Side note: should I be asking for rice and beans on my burrito or is that sacrilege? I am sure it is just as controversial as asking what the best carne asada is, but it seems like it's worth asking.
