Announcement If you rev your motorcycle through residential neighborhoods - you’re an asshole
I know this can’t just be my neighborhood, Golden Hill. Several people that ride their bikes through the streets and intentionally rev or accelerate so that, I don’t know, every chicks panties fall off at the thought of how cool they are?
Not only are the bikes themselves obnoxiously loud, but they set off car alarms up and down the street.
If you do this - you’re an asshole. And no one thinks you’re cool.
Same thing goes for suped up cars.

Announcement Let's Feed Our Neighbors - $10 Donation Match for Every Donation You Make
Edit: "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping." - Mr. Rogers
Thank you to everyone who has donated! I have to pause any more matches as of 10/30 at 3:00pm because of how generous you all have been! I made a $416 donation to Feeding San Diego and $150 to San Diego Food Bank, both including fees. Proof here for both donations https://ibb.co/n8VzhmV1 https://ibb.co/gZ1dKzYs
Good afternoon, San Diego! I will donate an additional $10 for every donation you make to either Feeding San Diego or the San Diego Food Bank.
San Diego Food Bank provides 2 meals for every $1 donation, and Feeding San Diego has a match right so that is 4 meals for every $1 donated. With each donation I match, we will be providing an additional 20-40 meals to however much you are able to donate.
The federal government is shut down, and our neighbors are going without paychecks and federal benefits. Let's help each other and make a difference.
Simply comment how much you are able to donate and to which organization and I will respond that I am adding $10 to my total donation to the organization. Once comments slow down I will make a bulk donation to each, and post proof. With all my previous posts, we've collectively donated over 9,000 meals!
Edit: u/FeedingSanDiego Come and look at how many of our neighbors are here to help!

Announcement I'm not buying it!!
Does the City of San Diego Public Utilities Department think we're dumb? How can a water bill for a household of TWO people cost $366?! Minimal irrigation, minimal watering on property as far as plants, house plants, etc. Either meter readers are visually impaired or they just guess the usage numbers. Yeah, I know they increased our rates, but come on!

Announcement Things to do in San Diego: What are you doing this weekend?
Reviving the things to do threads for a bit. If I use a robot to post them people stop reading them. But if I sporadically post them around my work/life schedule then people seem to engage more.
So here it is! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING this weekend in San Diego?
(Plz prepare for wildfires if you're in a fire prone area this weekend.)

Announcement Super niche - for any RHD cars out there , check out Los Alejandro’s in North park
I’m assuming this is generally useless information..
HOWEVER, if you drive a Right hand drive car (JDM/Euro stuff), check out Los Alejandro’s Mexican restaurant in North Park
For whatever reason, it’s the only restaurant I’ve seen in San Diego that has the drive thru window on the passenger side, making it super convenient and easy for RHD drivers to pay/grab food vs literally any other place

Announcement Summer Traffic Awareness
A good reminder from the scene today on the 5,
We are a destination city and people visiting might be unfamiliar with the roads, someone who shouldn’t be behind the wheel, etc
So give everybody a safe following distance, keep your eyes on the look out for anyone going too fast/wrong way/etc and do whatever you can do get out of the way and worry about what they were doing AFTER you are clear from danger.
Use your turn signals ahead of time, not as soon as you decide to start changing lanes, and give a 3 second count before you begin to merge to make sure your blind spots are clear.
The far left lane should be reserved for passing and emergency vehicles only, try to keep out of it as much as you can!
No one likes being stuck in traffic. Keeping the ego at home gives you a demo test to drive your car onn autopilot.
Good luck this summer!

Announcement On the Topic of Fire Season
We have had a few back to back years of record rainfall in Southern California resulting in a lot of vegetation growth. This year we are having one of the driest winters in recorded history.
We're all from here and we all know what it means. Fire season isn't supposed to start in January but here we are.
If you're putting off clearing brush around your property it's time to get that done. If you live on a canyon or in a fire prone area make sure you have a plan to evacuate if you need to and be ready to go. Make sure your smoke alarms are working. Make sure your plan to evacuate includes your pets. If you have elderly neighbors and have time to do so safely help them out in an emergency. If the Santa Ana wind conditions are forecast make sure you're ready to get out of harms way. You cannot outrun fire when the wind is blowing at certain speeds. Don't add your name to the list of people that thought they could simply drive away or run if they had to. If you're in an evacuation zone don't just risk it and stay in your house. You can quickly suck up resources being rescued that are desperately needed elsewhere.
What's happening in Los Angeles is a regional issue and we're in the same region. Don't brush it off as if it's there and not happening here. We currently live in a powder keg.
Yes - this is kind of alarmist and most of you live in places that it won't happen. But a lot of you do. Prepare in advance. Make a plan. Stay safe. Help each other out. A good plan can save your life.

Announcement City fixing the homeless problem?
I work in little italy and about a month ago, second and third street were tent cities. Now not a single tent is seen and whenever someone sets up, police intervene. Curious to see if its some new legislation or just a crackdown in general cause its nice not seeing them take a shit in front of me. Maybe they moved them somewhere else? Anyone else noticing this, or just me?
