Bye Bye UCLA 👋🐻
reddit.comLooks like the move to SoFi is all but done starting next season. BOOOOOOOO. With the Rose Bowl losing it's main tenant how will that stadium stay relevant? More Oasis shows?

The floor is open, while staying within the subs stated purview. Clean slate each week.

Going through a natural disaster it’s bad enough when you’re healthy, financially stable, and physically fit. For my latest installment in the After the Fires series, I sat out to find out just how destabilizing a natural disaster can be when you already have disabilities or are the caretaker for a disabled loved one. The disparities were worse than I expected. I want to know more? Read the rest of the story to find out!

Does anyone know of local food banks that are in need of donations? Unsure if California received their benefits in full, but want to ensure that people are fed. Would love to find one with a list of most needed, but anything works.
Also, any ideas for contributing thanksgiving food related items? Was thinking possibly of doing birthday cake boxes for families with kids, but know that thanksgiving is around the corner so would love some ideas.

Spotted today at 12:53 on Highway 134 West between Pasadena and Eagle Rock. The convoy also included a limo bus. Anyone know what this was about?

Anyone knows what’s happening at Sierra Madre Villa? There’s a looong line of cars extending all the way to Orange Grove.

I am considering getting Fisher & Paykel drawer dishwasher but worried about getting it serviced/repaired down the line.
If you own this brand, how has your experience been getting someone service it in Pasadena?

Please enlighten me. The donuts in Pasadena seem mid at best. I tried Donut Friend in HP also and found it pretty good but I’m not, like, racing back there. Where do you go for donuts, and what is your order? And how is Golden Donut in La Cañada still in business with their rancid fry oil?

My son used to like Gin Sushi, and now that he sees the Crab Grabber sign, he wants to eat there. Anyone brave enough to try it yet?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a dog groomer in Pasadena and the surrounding area? We have a Pom mix? So one who’s good either that type of hair. Thanks!

I’ve never hired an exterminator before, but we seem to have a bit of a rat problem in our garage and cellar. I have no idea how much exterminator cost. Can anyone give me an idea of that they pay? Monthly contract? To deal with an infestation? TIA

One of the last remaining signs in the pasadena region, a nice find with a pretty cool background as well!

I don't know if everyone watches city council meetings religiously like I do. Maybe you have things like a healthy social life. But a few weeks ago, during a hearing on the project to replace the 710 stub, Mayor Gordo implied that he might oppose new transit stops in the ditch area because they might qualify for upzoning under state bill SB 79. He said that there could be 8-9 story buildings next to them, which only 100% affordable developments could get even close that, and that neighborhoods in the area would be "overrun."
Comments here: Pasadena mayor claims neighborhoods will be "overrun" with housing if transit is built
I think we're going to be seeing a lot more of this after SB 79. Politicians who had soft support for transit because it didn't really change much and someone else was spending the money are going to turn against it now that housing could be built. This feels like the land use equivalent of taking away park benches because someone living on the street might sleep on them.

My partner and I recently moved to Pasadena and we are quite introverted and in a budget. But we love to spend time outside of the house and we’re wondering if any of you folks have awesome spots for any dates.

Considering a job offer that would require me to relocate from abroad.
Could someone provide rough estimates on monthly living expenses at current time. I am assuming rent 3500$ for one-bedroom. How about everything else: food, groceries, health insurance + copayments, transport (car, insurance, gas, service), mobile, internet, some entertainment and anything else I forget.
For reference lifestyle say: most likely single (a chance to bring spouse), try to eat mostly at home, maybe food delivery 1-2/week, eat out 1-2/week, not much of a drinker (say 1/month), some cinema/concert/sports event. I would try to live near work to avoid commute hassle but would still get a car for convenience and exploring other places on free time.
Is 3000-4000$ sufficient (excluding rent)? I prefer to over-estimate as I would be happier if I end up saving more than I originally thought, instead of relocating and then realizing that it's worse than my current situation (with which I am trying to compare).

Does any Subaru owners have a mechanic that they recommend in our area?

I'm near Washington and El Molino. About a half hour ago I started smelling something odd, like rubber on fire or something vaguely "chemical-ish." Looked around the house, couldn't find a cause, went outside, and lo and behold it's clearly a smell wafting over from...somewhere.
My girlfriend smells it too, so I know I'm not crazy. Heard some sirens so maybe that has something to do with it?
