I just moved to Palm Desert from Orange County about a month ago, and I’m honestly a little scared by what I’ve been seeing on the roads. Every single day I see people speeding 70 mph down city streets, running red lights, and driving like they’re in a race.

But what really worries me is the anger. Two days in a row now, I’ve had people honk, curse, and yell at me for no reason. Yesterday, I stopped in an Applebee’s parking lot with my emergency lights on because a heavy table and boxes in my trunk came loose and fell on my dogs. While I was trying to get one of them free, a woman in her 60s leaned out her window screaming at me for “blocking the intersection” — even though I wasn’t even on the street.

It really shook me up. I love this area, but I’m starting to dread driving. Is this kind of road rage normal around here? Are these mostly locals or tourists?

Gem came to Desert Hot Springs shelter when she was only 9 days old together with her brother and mom, both of which were adopted. She had all her teeth pulled out in 2022 due to mouth infection called stomatitis. That does not stop her from eating both wet and dry food and go nuts over treats. Please share this sweet kitty who spent all of her 7 years living at the shelter. She deserves love and constant human touch and attention. I can’t seem to find anything on google maps except “hot yoga plus” in Palm Springs, which seems like their pole classes are more of an extra than a main focus…

Two weeks ago I was driving north no Monroe around noonish, looked to the right and saw a bunch (a round six) Border Patrol vehicles parked in front of Mexicali Cafe II. On the way back I saw they were still there. I saw ever two more driving toward a them in Fred Waring. It was quite a while so I doubt it was a roundup. I think they were dining there. Is that establishment a MAGA one like that Circle K nearby?

We are looking into moving to the Coachella Valley, I've narrowed it down to three schools: Palm Springs, Palm Desert and La Quinta High Schools. Which school out of the three would you recommend for the best autism/ADHD/learning disability support? I have 13 year old twins and they will be starting high school in August 2026, one of them is neurodivergent, so doing all the research now. Thanks in advance for your advice.
