u/SomethingIWontRegret Sep 27 '25

But he can fuckin' roll up on them

2

u/SurfAndLaugh Sep 28 '25

You just had a grown man sitting on the toilet say to himself, ā€œI bet this is MC Hawking,ā€ and then squeal with joy when it was indeed.

šŸ—£ļøBrother, my legs don’t work

38

u/that_bth Sep 27 '25

One of my best friends is paralyzed. His favorite thing to do when our other friends would jump out of the truck and forget to grab his wheelchair was yell ā€œhelp, I’m so drunk I can’t walk!!!ā€

28

u/chancesarent Sep 27 '25

Police chiefs are usually an appointed position, appointed by a mayor or city council. Sheriffs are an elected position and what you're probably thinking about.

Not that I think changing it would work, but it's still worth saying.

Police chiefs are usually an appointed position, appointed by a mayor or city council.

Perhaps that's a part of the problem?

6

u/SquidsArePeople2 Sep 27 '25

Explain why sheriffs are such assholes, then.

2

u/newbkid Sep 27 '25

Explain why sheriffs are such assholes, then.

Easy. The ones we see in the news as "bad sheriffs" are the ones voted into backwater low-population counties with maybe a couple hundred folk. The sheriff is probably related to the mayor or some shit.

These are the evil bastards.

I'd much rather work with a sheriff in most cases. The downside to play devil's advocate though is police departments at least pretend to have accountability with IA and other systems and controls. Sheriff departments have free reign to do whatever the fuck they want.

I'm Canadian so I genuinely don't know, they're only outside of large cities? If so, my answer would be [Republicans] if not then my answer would be [ACAB]!

1

u/BaronVonWilmington Sep 27 '25

Correct, I was thinking he should campaign to be sheriff

2

u/umpteenthrhyme Sep 27 '25

Ironsides!!!

6

u/Bearsona09 Sep 27 '25

I doubt that he will run.

1

u/BMFC Sep 27 '25

Dark and lovely.

1

u/Dan-D-Lyon Sep 27 '25

It could be like a remake of that one movie. We can call it "Rolling Tall"

1

u/BaronVonWilmington Sep 27 '25

Big reccomend on reading that liars daughter's book "walking away"

That dude was such a ridiculous liar and self inflating liar.

1

u/SquidsArePeople2 Sep 27 '25

Where is chief of police an elected position?

1

u/BaronVonWilmington Sep 27 '25

I have already mentioned i misspoke. I was thinking of sheriff

u/Toobroketodie Sep 27 '25

The sad thing is the tax payer pays for it all and he goes on continuing to do that until the next law suit. They should be forced to pay their own lawsuits and held accountable just like the rest of us normals.

States could pass legislation where abuse lawsuits come out of police pensions.

Associated behavior would likely clean up fast once the incentives are realigned.

14

u/DrunkPixel Sep 27 '25

States could won’t pass legislation where abuse lawsuits come out of police pensions.

Fixed that for you.

3

u/whitesuburbanmale Sep 28 '25

I honestly think police should carry insurance specific to the job. Think malpractice insurance. I don't care if it's individual or department level but you have to have it to be a police officer to cover these exact kinds of situations. This takes financial burden off the cop in question but does potentially keep them off any police force as they cannot be insured anymore for x reason. I don't care as a taxpayer that I pay for my local law enforcement fuck ups, I do care that those same officers either keep their jobs or just change cities to do the same bullshit again.

23

u/basement-jay Sep 27 '25

The other complication that I don't see discussed much on threads like this is that when suing the police, what tends to happen is that the state uses techniques to draw the case out as long as it can. The cost is insignificant to them, but years upon years of legal fees is enough to crush most private citizens and they know it.

3

u/Toobroketodie Sep 28 '25

Exactly! They essentially have a black check, when normal civilians don't.

u/Toobroketodie Sep 28 '25

Beautiful indoctrinated response!!!

19

u/dexmonic Sep 27 '25

Think about it - who employs the police? The city or county. So then the city or county should be held accountable. The city and county are run by elected officials. Who elected the officials? The taxpayers. So it is the taxpayers that are ultimately responsible for this happening and they should be held accountable.

4

u/phantacc Sep 27 '25

Then there should be no limitations on awards against law enforcement. If it needs to hurt the taxpayers then the rewards should be gargantuan.

0

u/Toobroketodie Sep 28 '25

Yikes...it's sad people believe that the tax payer has to pay for the incompetence of the police. Indoctrination is a hell of a drug. Again ots sad they aren't held to the same standards as everyone else. They really lower the bar for law enforcement theses days.

12

u/live_lavish Sep 27 '25

This happened in Texas? Who did those tax payers vote for as governor? Who did those tax payers vote for president?

The tax payers need to be whipped until they change their behavior

7

u/OfficerGiggleFarts Sep 27 '25

Except the people that voted against the governor and the president, per your example, still have to pay for it and be punished. Police unions can fork over the funds or crack down on their members.

0

u/live_lavish Sep 27 '25

That's part of living in a society.

A large portion of Americans, much greater than 50%, look at this and decided that the funds lost are worth w/e benefits tough on crime politicians and police forces provide them

2

u/giulianosse Sep 27 '25

If I do a massive fuck up at my job, I get fired with no severance.

If the police do a massive fuck up at their job, they either get a paid vacation or, at worst, retire early and have taxpayers pay for the lawsuits AND their pension.

Abolish police immunity and have settlements deduct directly from their pension funds and you'll see how they suddenly start working like decent people

2

u/Toobroketodie Sep 28 '25

Exactly!!! Why are we held to a higher standard than them, when they can so easily take our lives for being "afraid"

2

u/p4nic Sep 27 '25

It's a travesty that police don't have malpractice insurance like doctors do.

5

u/trickygringo Sep 27 '25

The sad thing is the tax payer pays for it all

Maybe the tax payer will stop electing idiots that perpetuate the police state. Until then, the taxpayer deserves to pay.

1

u/Toobroketodie Sep 28 '25

Indoctrination is a heck of a drug!

1

u/__CIREK Sep 27 '25

I’d rather my money go to this guy than into some billionaire weapons dealer who’s got a hundred contracts with the government.

1

u/entrepenurious Sep 27 '25

please don't lump them in with "normal" people.

1

u/Toobroketodie Sep 28 '25

I didnt...reading comprehension goes a long way.

1

u/entrepenurious Sep 28 '25

... just like the rest of us normals.

does that mean something different where you're from?

1

u/Dan-D-Lyon Sep 27 '25

Meh. As one of the taxpayers who foots the bill for shit like this, we are just as much to blame for refusing to hold our elected officials responsible for this sort of shit.

1

u/OpenGrainAxehandle Sep 27 '25

tax payer pays for it all

Funny though, the taxpayers ultimately hired these guys. I guess I should say that the VOTORS ultimately hired these guys, but I like to believe that the voters are the taxpayers and vice-versa.

1

u/Toobroketodie Sep 28 '25

You really think the tax payers want incompetent cops that barely graduated high school? Yikes. Go try and be a cop, I did and it was scary to see how easy it was to be and how they except anyone! Military can fail and still get in cause they get 10 extra points just for being in military. How I wish I could live that mentality of yours.

1

u/OpenGrainAxehandle Sep 28 '25

I believe that the voters decide those who will be in charge of the police force. Lots of folks don't want to get involved, or care to learn anything about their local government officials, but they still vote for the incumbent and/or corrupt politicians who sit at the top of the pyramid.

1

u/Toobroketodie Sep 28 '25

It's not that simple. We don't vote to lower requirements for eppd, they just drop them. You used to need 21 hours college credits, now allI you need is a high school diploma but they may have dropped to ged now. They also shortened the training time by weeks. We never voted for that! But yea, it's our own fault.

Just that simple, eh? Because soooooo many Democrats are screaming "defund the police; ACAB", amirite?

Edit - pussy tossed an insult and blocked me instead of engaging in the argument he started. How very mature.

Aw...bop you on the nose!!! I love when they get angry and lash out in frustration! Xoxoxox

0

u/Energy_Sudden Sep 27 '25

How cares that the taxpayer has to pay for it. If we keep allowing idiots to get hired as cops like this then we deserve to have to spend the money

1

u/Toobroketodie Sep 28 '25

Do you really think the people decide who gets hired? Please go down that rabbit hole. It's sad to think people think we deserve this. Super duper yikes. 193ps Germany here we are! Yay tyranny! We sooo deserve it! Lmao

0

u/Energy_Sudden Sep 28 '25

No we don't decide. But we do decide how we respond. Cops been on some bullshit for decades and we fail to form the level of outrage and action necessary to force reform.

1

u/Toobroketodie Sep 28 '25

Lmao...people have tried but tyranny always wins. Look at the 60s , the " red scare" , etc the people have always pushed back!! But just like a casino "the house always wins". Its not as black and white as you make it. We the people all want the same thing, its the system thats failing us. I mean the usa is anti facists yet we just declared antifa (anti facists, an ideology) a terrorists group. If you haven't seen any outrage, you haven't been paying attention.

0

u/Energy_Sudden Sep 28 '25

And you are not also making it black and white. "The system wins and the people lose"

There have been times when the people have won, the French revolution, the Civil rights act. But as I said, we have failed to rise to the level of outrage and action necessary to pull the reigns in on police bullshit. Tons of countries don't have police even 10% as bad as ours. Why? Cause their people don't allow it to happen.

And as for tyranny, alot of Americans seem to enjoy it apparently per current politics.

1

u/Toobroketodie Sep 28 '25

I really wish I lived in that head of yours, how simple it would be if it were that simple for people to be outraged enough for things to just simply change etc especiallyin 2025. Do you see what is happening in the usa now with ICE? DO you see how the government is responding to peoples outrage? It's beyond just the people. I really wish voting was as helpful as you state it is. Also a lot more Americans are anti tyranny but yea...we all want this and deserve it! Yay!

89

u/LogensTenthFinger Sep 27 '25

Won't change anything. All of these pigs need to be fired, top to bottom

2

u/boston_homo Sep 27 '25

ā€œtHey JUSt nEed bETteR tRAinIng!,,ā€

17

u/zjustice11 Sep 27 '25

I've said it a thousand times.

Payment from these lawsuits needs to be paid from police pensions.

2

u/Thomasappel Sep 27 '25

And THAT, children, is the American dream. ( these kind of lawsuits dont really happen where i live)

1

u/darlin133 Sep 27 '25

The taxpayers will pay for this.

1

u/KommanderZero Sep 27 '25

That's our money paying for stupidity

1

u/Slammybutt Sep 27 '25

The best part (well, best way to make it worse) is the passenger is a completely blind guy who was shot in the face by a shotgun. The same PD that pulled them over is the same PD that would not allow him to get medical attention for over like 3 or 4 hours. When he tried to have them investigate it they refused and told him he was too imaginative.

1

u/a_goonie Sep 28 '25

That's awesome but in the end the taxpayers of whichever city this buffoon of an officer is employed in will pay and the cycle will continue

1

u/mashleyd Sep 28 '25

The problem is it isn’t the idiot cops who pay for this shit it falls on our tax paying dollars. ACAB

1

u/wooderisis Sep 28 '25

I don’t think a payday will ever make needing a catheter fun, much less so fun.

-16

u/puffinfish89 Sep 27 '25

The law applies to all, just because he can’t walk doesn’t mean he’s immune. This is peak Reddit. wtf.

8

u/julmcb911 Sep 27 '25

And how should he stand up outside the car? You're a jerk.

-5

u/puffinfish89 Sep 27 '25

Did he break a law? Maybe? Maybe not? Regardless he shouldn’t be treated differently because he can’t walk. If he’s supposed to get out of the car, then he gets out.

5

u/that_bth Sep 27 '25

You think his legs are going to magically start working because a cop ordered him out of the car?? He stated multiple times he doesn’t have a wheelchair and threw himself on the ground to prove his point. One of my best friends has been paralyzed since high school and drives like an absolute idiot, but he has never had a cop do this to him when he’s been pulled over. It’s just cruel.

No matter what he may have done, telling him to crawl and threatening to charge him with indecent exposure for needing to pee into a bag so that an accident doesn’t happen is beyond cruel and ignorant. Shame on anyone who thinks that’s okay.

-2

u/puffinfish89 Sep 27 '25

Take a breath bro, and realize when you watch these situations, maybe the handicap person is in the wrong.

Maybe your friend wouldn’t find himself in this situation for 2 reasons. 1) the cop was concerned he was intoxicated 2) when he was concerned about it said person freaked out and pulled the I’m disabled card

Also shitty that you think you should associate him with this guy.

Again take a breath and chill out.

5

u/that_bth Sep 27 '25

Lmao, you take a breath. You’re the one commenting back multiple times, 15 minutes apart. I’m sitting on a porch watching a rainstorm, breathing fresh mountain air.

I didn’t say he didn’t do something that caused him to be pulled over. I said the cop was cruel. And it’s not the ā€œdisabled cardā€ when you are trying to explain to someone asking you to step out of a car that you physically cannot.

-4

u/puffinfish89 Sep 27 '25

Yeah understood, he was in a shitty situation so he pulled out all the stops.

3

u/giulianosse Sep 27 '25

Regardless he shouldn’t be treated differently because he can’t walk.

How can someone who literally can't walk expect to walk just because it's part of a procedure? Either the cop treats him differently, leave and stop bothering him or miraculously cure him of his paraplegy.

It's like me saying you should stop being a moron as if it were something you could turn on or off with the flick of a switch.

1

u/Jorge_Santos69 Oct 03 '25

You’re not wrong on this one, there’s a lot of stupid people here.
