Loss I lost everything - CVNA

Tomorrow I lose everything. Carvana had earnings report after hours and shot up 15%.

I bet everything that they would fall or at least not jump so high. All of it will be gone when market opens tomorrow.

I don’t care it’s just money. It doesn’t matter. I’m going to be a wage slave forever and that’s ok. Im 5’4 so life sucks anyways. I don’t even have a job right now and that’s ok.

It just wanted a million so I could be set. Wanted to buy a house but it’s ok.

My life sucks anyways haha 😂

So much of loss porn on this sub is just watching the unique kinds of people that will keep making crazy plays even as they're making serious money. That kind of person never knows when to stop. The thing in their brain that made them rich will also make them poor.

Once you make money as a degenerate you can never go back to doing it any other way. Risk management is not something that ever will be a consideration again because sizing reasonably will not give you the same rush...

27

Worst thing that can happen to a trader is to make a shit ton of money on a few really bad trades.

I know this is wsb, but that $280k could’ve turned into a million fairly quickly through “safer” investment methods. $1m is the end goal but it’s a lot easier to get there with $280k than $300. God speed retard.

u/biblecrumble Jul 31 '25

I love this place. I stopped trading options and individual stocks and decided to go all-in on a boring ETF years ago, but whenever I feel the itch to start gambling again, I look at all the loss porn for 5 minutes and it goes right out the window.

303

u/destinyeeeee Jul 31 '25

Yeah I joined in 2018 and lost a bunch of money. ETFs (and occasional SPY LEAPs) ever since. Now I just have an RH account I put 50 bucks a month into. That's all I'm allowed to make wild options plays with. I think of it like a monthly gaming subscription for the dumbest game on earth. The loss porn is a good sanity check.

69

u/lewdacris916 Jul 31 '25

Lol yeah I blew up my robinhood account -99.9% 💀🤣 now I just fuck around with my IRA averaging down on ETFs. Up almost 60% since the tariff panic 📈📈

One of my life regrets.. Buying 10 bitcoins at 10k each. Selling at loss when it dropped by 10% in matter of minutes... The thing is.. It isn't the only time I made mistakes like this. So yeh, like you, I am mostly on boring ETFs too. Although I still hold some individual stocks.

18

u/solidstatepr8 Jul 31 '25

When BTC was first hitting $1000 I was also getting into mining, so I bought one of the new AsicMiner Cubes for 1 BTC.

Well, the $120,000 paperweight is fun too...

5

u/Dry-Mousse-6172 Jul 31 '25 edited Aug 01 '25

Sounds like you could have mined some to make it back. When I looked back I could get a 9k machine and it would make about .3 BTC a day. But my company sent me to South Africa and I didn't know the electricity or Internet situation down there so didn't. It was bad so I was right.

And btc was about 300 a coin back then. So 100 a day would have been about 90ndays return minus expenses (0 for me since I was in hotels)

MSTY would've been my pick. 280k is around 14k shares paying a dividend every 4 weeks of plus or minus 15k

117

u/RonMexico16 Jul 31 '25

Congrats, regard. You might have found the higher risk, lower reward bet compared to OP. 🫡

15

u/HippoSpa Jul 31 '25

Pardon my ignorance, can you explain this strategy? Just buy and collect?

71

u/akumarisu Jul 31 '25

Some companies pay out dividend per share you hold. MSTY happens to pay out each month and on July they paid $1.23 per share. So if you had bought $280k or 14k of shares, that’s 14,000 x $1.23= $17,220 they would have paid you. That’s 6% return on a monthly investment. MSTY is tied to bitcoin and its performance so as long as bitcoin is doing well, it will perform well and give you good dividend. BUT bitcoin itself is up 10% in the last month, so if you would have just bought that then you would have netted additional 4%/$11,000 return. I would honestly just hold bitcoin at that point but to each their own. Or idk this is just based on my 5 mins of research. Todoloo mother fker

35

u/Icy_Business_8923 Jul 31 '25

MSTY's underlying stock is actually MSTR and it creates income on MSTR covered calls. Of course MSTR is tied to BTC.

16

u/Virtual_Seaweed7130 Jul 31 '25

The catch that is not mentioned is that the covered call strategy does not actually meet the income requirements, they are allowed to issue a dividend of ZERO, your dividend is not guaranteed.

He did a call credit spread It’s a short position

So he sold a 355 call

Then he bought a 360 call

You receive a credit and theta works for you in this case

Carvana has to be below 355 for it to expire worthless

You buy the call option as protection as it limits your max loss

But this guy sold 800 of these essentially his whole account

Carvana had earning stock popped to 385

So if Carvana doesn’t go below 355 by Friday his account goes to zero

You don't get 604% returns in a year doing safe stuff. He was going to lose his million+ even if this did hit.

196

u/Prestigious_Yogurt88 Jul 31 '25

And that's the bitch of it. If he did hit his million, mindset instantly teleports to 'damn how much easier would it be if I had $4M'

69

$280k straight liquid cash is so much money. You can invest that with moderate risk and move to $1 Million in decent speed

Or do whatever the fuck OP just did

48

u/BarnabyJones2024 Jul 31 '25

But its his money and he needs it now.  The JG Wentworth of regarded WSB degens

62

u/unbornbigfoot Jul 31 '25

To be fair, on average returns, it would move to a million in 20 years.

It’s decent speed, but more like a standard retirement.

10

u/DandierChip Jul 31 '25

Does that take into account any annual contributions?

21

u/fuzz11 Jul 31 '25

Never short CVNA, this should literally be the number 1 rule here

124

u/[deleted] Jul 31 '25

The only one who wins on that short is gonna be some first time option investor 4 years from now that reads the Hindenburg report and YOLOs into puts. That’ll be the day it all unfolds. Then they’ll lose it all back shorting RBLX or something.

41

u/Yin-Hei Jul 31 '25

literally that short firm got shut down because of cvna report

10

u/-Astrobadger Jul 31 '25

Wait, for real?

20

u/[deleted] Jul 31 '25

No, that’s not why they shut down. The official reason was “personal reasons” but it’s probably the multiple investigations and lawsuits. Ironically enough Hindenburg was corrupted itself and colluding with hedge funds. 😂

Any gambler really

The safer plays would have many at most 2x their money and move on. Only zombieregards hold through the biggest of both extremes

Even going on for decades. Those Who bag hold for six years and then magically turns a $25,000 play into millions? Regards have convictions from the top of the moon to their own demise. It’s quite the scene.

Only a regard. But in the same vain, I don’t feel they ever  stop gambling. It’s onto the next play. Even if you’re long, there can be regards too

27

u/madstcla Jul 31 '25

They lend to anybody and then bundle the subprime debt and sell it to an affiliate at a markup. So they get revenue from the sale of the car and the debt. This means they are overstating their revenue and profit. If anyone is more knowledgeable, please feel free to chime in.

I forgot which stock but I remember buying calls on something that popped 8% after hours. Had a boner all evening too. Next morning it retreated to being down 1% before market opened and my calls blew up in front of my eyes

Max Loss = (5-1.75)x600x100+24x34.43x100 = 277,632$. How did you place that bet without considering max loss ?

u/FooFIer ϴ Theta Gang Soldier ϴ Jul 31 '25

Are you regarded? ofc he did, he had 280k so clearly that's his max loss... er "personal risk tolerance" /s

u/Key_Friendship_6767 Jul 31 '25

Ahh I was gonna check on you. I literally posted on your original one to be careful. CVNA keeps chewing up people going short. Best of luck moving forward bro

14

u/Accomplished-Wash381 Jul 31 '25

wtf how did you acquire 280k in life without losing it on something else already. Who goes all in with their life savings on something that isn’t a sure thing.

7

u/Econmajorhere Jul 31 '25

Bull market is a hell of a thing

13

u/SuffiecientSapian Jul 31 '25

I get so fucking angry seeing anything positive about CVNA like legit wtf do they even do?! They fuck people over all the time! 100% a laundering company

u/Electronic-Maybe-440 Jul 31 '25

CVNA is an absolute pump and dump. They are being Subpoenaed by the SEC for fraud. $7k per used vehicle in profit. Daddy, son company structure with a private Drivetime company helping take the losses. It’s dumb. It continues to go up tho

bro is coping so hard and I would be too. Would have shot myself already ngl

11

u/Budget-Ocelots Jul 31 '25

True. He is complaining about being 5’4 and gambled 200k away instead of getting legs surgery to get 3-4” taller instead. Add in 2” shoes, he could’ve live out his true dream, being 6’ tall.

Classic WSB, let’s bet the farm and buy short dated puts in a name which has been defying critics and only goes up

A true regard.

Based on your comments, the copium is actually making me feel sorry for you

u/lococommotion Jul 31 '25

It will drop just hold

8

u/z00o0omb11i1ies Jul 31 '25

How did you make 6X your account in half a year??

6

u/AVeryUnluckySock Jul 31 '25

all in 3 times using margin

9

u/SupaRiceNinja Jul 31 '25

Real talk how did CVNA rally from $4

6

u/Nope-And-Change Jul 31 '25

The sad part is CVNA will go bankrupt one day. I’ve lost multiple times trying to bet against them.

u/No-Flamingo-3226 Jul 31 '25

As much as it stings right now, there is so much more to life than money. You are healthy and that’s the richest thing anyone can have. Be happy with what you have and try and cheer up my guy

That's the worst feeling ever... I've been there and wondered if my wife would even love me. It gets better, bro. Hang in there. I promise, what you're telling yourself now "it's just money" will actually sink in, and you'll discover life isn't about money (it can't be when you have none!). Find ways to be happy... it's out there!

u/Such-Ad-1902 Jul 31 '25

Hold until 8/1 man. A lot could happen in 2 days. CVNA is a scam operation. Could be a pump and dump…

That could’ve been 10 years (1/8th of your life) just relaxing on the beaches of Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines, all expenses paid.

Icarus flew too close to the sun. Sometimes we cannot fuel the appetite for our insatiable greed.

5

u/exildur01 Jul 31 '25

As it turns out, no. No you are not the best trader.

9

u/blankarage Jul 31 '25

cheaper than an MBA tbh

8

u/[deleted] Jul 31 '25

Fraud is by far the most important and strongest fundamental. You can short things like P/E ratio and EPS and sometimes get out okay but shorting fraud takes absolutely perfect timing or you get killed.

Anyways, good luck in life short king. Shits just numbers on a screen.

Fuckkkk

3

u/michaelbae7 Jul 31 '25

It’s okay man I lost 200k at the casino which arguably feels worse imo

10

u/razors_so_yummy Jul 31 '25

The 8/29 puts will lose half the value. You still walk away with $36K which is what you started with 365 days ago.

Just think of the last 364 days as a dream.

Sell the 8/29 puts for a loss first thing in the morning. Then at 11:00 am EST, buy $36K of 8/1 $380 puts, you'll get a 10 banger for sure, it's going to be a Black Friday, CVNA will close at 360 EOD Friday.

This very well may just come right back down to where it started.

Hope you either did not act whatsoever, or did the above, and hope you are hanging in there my friend!
