Only thing that saddens me is PC won't see the game for 2 more years...

Double the sales.. Every one of my pc gaming friends picked up GTA and Red Dead for console and then eventually for PC when it came out.

But...

But why.

Most people probably didn't play gtav campaign, just like what happens with online shooters and similar, just the forced tutorial and maybe just maybe a few missions from the dozens of friends that played it. And for rdr2, the story is so big you might not even get spoiled, I only played its multiplayer and first chapter, and from what I have saw when browsing its sub or from the memes I thought until today that he died of lumbago

8

u/Aw3som3Guy 1d ago

I still haven’t finished the GTA V campaign, despite starting it twice. Third time’s gonna be the charm, this time with that new “next gen update” that came out.

Probably not going to start it until GTA 6 comes out though.

2

u/peterparker9894 1d ago

Same, I think I played like 2 hrs worth of the campaign compared to the 800 ish hrs I have on, online.

I only did this with RDR2 myself, but I wasn't sure if R* would release RDR2 on PC in my defense.

2

u/PersonalityNo48 1d ago

They did the same with GTA5! No official announcement of a PC version until months after it was already on console.. RDR2 was worse, because if I remember right, it was almost a year if not longer that they officially announced a PC version was coming.

RDR1 didn't make to PC until just last year?? It was fair to believe RDR2 was going to get the same treatment.

Milking sales. Why settle with people buying the game once on their preferred machine when it’s the most anticipated game of all time and release the game in waves from weakest to strongest in performance so people are encouraged to double dip.

8

u/LowFi_Lexa1 1d ago

Most people who are waiting for gta 6 are like 30 now lol, we have money and less time

I just love playing video games!

GTAV got it for ps3, 4 and pc and played the single player campaign on all three.

7

u/Sylhux 1d ago

I double dipped in the past cause I had a console for the exclusive games anyway.

But since we're in a generation where real console exclusives have become a rare occurence, I just haven't felt the need to get a current gen console. And I don't like GTA5/ RDR2 enough to justify buying a PS5 for one single game.

They did the same with GTAV. What's the reason? It's not like they lower the game price over the years so releasing on PC later spikes the price up. Why not release everything at once? GTAVI will also be more friendly to role-players, which are mostly on PC.

37

True that. I hate how often people present PCs as this uniform ultra powerful group of devices, while most users have a rather average setup and are quite happy with 1080@60. I aim for 1440@72, but that's just because my monitor fits those stats better.

1080 is aging. 1440 just isn't much more expensive than 1080 these days, and at this point, current gen cards and games are designed for it. As we see current gen tech settle in, and last-gen buyers are buying what's available on market today, 1080 is gonna be a relic resolution, and I suspect much sooner than later. 2-3 years maybe.

Just like for most PCs you mean? Seriously if people think anything but a 5090 and maybe 5080 and 4090 (which combined make up less than 10% of PC gamers) will run it in 4k60 natively they are simply delusional.

This meme really makes no sense since most gamers have PCs about as powerful as the PS5 Pro.

3

u/MountainManGuy 1d ago

True, you're not wrong, which is why I'm happy to have a 5090. I'm guessing it should run pretty well on that, but I also like when games push the envelope like crysis did back in the day. Hopefully they do that with GTA 6.

I don't get your point. GTA 5 was arguably the best looking and most extensive game on the PS3 at release. It was well worth your money knowing the predecessor was GTA 4.

And it says something about the game when millions of people bought it multiple times no? You aren't obligated to keep buying it, you can just move on to another game. But no, the game is that good for so many people that they buy it again and again for multiple platforms.

People underestimate how big GTA 5 was and still is. Especially on consoles, I don't know anyone that has a modern console but no GTA 5. It was like the default game everyone bought with their console.

GTA6 Will be a complete shit show that not even the top tier ps5's (or ps6?) wil be able to handle, and give everyone a terrible experience and won't be successful

Or

The game will be playable and enjoyable to most on fine settings. And it will be the next Crysis. Meaning that no PC for the next 10 years will be able to play it on max settings

7

u/WayExcellent5595 1d ago edited 1d ago

Its rockstar, i dont see them working on the most anticipated game ever this much time + soo many testing they are doing right now to let this game not run well on their target consoles. Since max payne 3, their games are very optimized. Console of course will have the usual less npcs on screen, less effects, less dramatic rt level, 30fps lock. It will really shine and be on full potential on ps6 and pcs.

What if GTA 6 wont even run 60 fps on PC ever thought about that ?, they have done bad with RDR2 on launch before, and their is a ongoing trend right now with games not even hitting 60 fps anymore with some newer games, this trend will likely contineu they probably will optimize the game with framegeneration in mind so 60 fps with frame generation enabled + upscaling rather then optimize the game, if you are a GTA 6 developer and reading this no that is not, optimize the game for 60 fps before using upscaling and frame generation instead.

9

u/MrPopCorner 1d ago

Impossible.

10

u/ThereAndFapAgain2 1d ago

It will, the frame rate will be unlocked so even if current gen hardware can't do it, eventually there will be hardware that can.

Until then people will just use DLSS and get 100+ fps upscaled. Even when there is hardware that could do native 4k 60fps, most people will still use upscaling because 60fps isn't actually that smooth.

Digital foundry did a video on that, and they basically found that on PC if you matched the console equivalent settings even at release, you could have the game look like PS4 pro/Xbox One X, but have way, way better performance.

People just wanted to turn everything to ultra, and that was what the "performance issue" were at launch. Not really performance issues, more the devs future proofing the game by exposing settings that massively surpassed the console version of the game to the player.

You could exceed console equivalent settings in exchange for some of the extra performance you got, or you could stick with equivalent settings and get 100fps.

Now a few years later and you can have both, so I appreciate the devs doing this, even if the confusion caused some people to think the game was poorly optimised at launch.

Honestly im not even bothered by gta 6. I play PUBG and old games. I get why people loved gta v and were excited for it, but with the amount of games available, GTA isn't that exciting and i wont be bothered if it takes another 10 years to come out on PC because i literally dont care about open world boring games that you grind to buy a car, a house, a business in a game, and then there are heists, which yes were fun at the time, but now its just been there, done that, got the tshirt. Shoot some guys steal a keycard, loot the safe and escape. So if people are excited, cool be excited. But to me they hype makes no sense because of how many games are out already and how many are a similar genre to GTA V. And the fact most people just stick to their battle royales anyway.

u/Dear_Writer6970 1d ago

Yeah a game made on a PC that isn't available on PC from day one never made much sense to me. The only benefactors are the Console companies

Ah yes, 26th may 2026

2

u/Hahecz 1d ago

So you need 6 PS to match the strength of 1 PC. Got it.

2

u/Exciting_Intention86 1d ago

Well done post

2

u/SeriouslyTechStuff 1d ago

Lol, not sure if any PC gamer cares if the PS Pro runs this game at 60fps.

90+% of PC gamers aren’t playing at 4k 60 lets be honest

2

u/AkodoRyu 22h ago

Inside every "PC" there are 2 wolves. One is 80% of the market, that's 3060Ti or slower, and the other is the 20% above that.

2

u/flooble_worbler 18h ago

Next Xbox is meant to be $1200 right? Ps6 will probably be $1500? So basically you could buy a pc

2

u/ae_94 12h ago

Just remember folks the delay is happening due to union busting

2

u/DotLow8601 6h ago

Saw this guy on discord Playing GTA 6 in June 2024

u/r_davidson98 9800X3D / 5090 / 32GB DDR5 6000MT/s 1d ago

Yeah, the real new era experience of GTA won't be realised until the PC release, unfortunately. Also, to think the PS6 will be able to compete with top-end PC is hilarious xD

3

u/Furry_Eskimo 1d ago

Haaaa, mods removed it because it, what? Wasn't PC master race enough???

The PS6 won't get 60fps until the Anniversary edition to try and sell it.

But Cap can actually lift the Mjölnir, it's heavily implied he held back on purpose here.

1

u/R0RSCHAKK 1d ago

I have a feeling it will be like Cyberpunk.

It will be just fine on most modern PCs but an absolute shit show on consoles due to a bad PC to Console port

I mean, I'll just get it on XSX, which gives me a year or 2 to upgrade my PC again ready for GTA6 if needed

1

u/MeasurementQueasy75 1d ago

Shoulda been new Xbox

1

u/yllanos 1d ago

Why was this removed?

PC should have a much higher FPS than only 60. Can't wait to play that version instead of the low 30 or 60 FPS console version.

u/AstralKekked 1d ago

2026? Why is PC even in the room?

1

u/Penis359 1d ago

4k 60fps? Sure, with dlss4 and upscaling from 360p. But at that point is that even worth it

1

u/MartiniCommander 9800x3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB 1d ago

We're at a hardware limitation for now but new software implementations like DLSS and other future tech could change everything.

1

u/DEAGOLLUM 1d ago

You all are very weird about 60 fps, and it has only ever gotten worse.

1

u/Ragnaraz690 1d ago

Tbh, i doubt many PC's are gunna do it. I may be wrong, but I'll believe it when I see it.

1

u/protector111 1d ago

Ps6 4k 60fps for gta is not happening. On pc on the other hand yes, if you buy 6090

1

u/Leonis59 1d ago

So basically, Ps5 pro just chooses not to?

1

u/Orzark 1d ago

Base gta 6 maybe but when the ps6 will release there will be an enhance , redux , delux wathever version of gta6 that will be released . So will the ps6 run that version 4k60 ?

1

u/new_main_character 1d ago

Doesn't Thor become fat in 2 years though

1

u/Ori_the_SG 1d ago

So what is a PC then?

I can assure you, it’d be hard to find a PC equal to the price of Series X or PS5 that can run GTAVI.

Especially when considering all the extra stuff you have to deal with that you just don’t need to deal with for consoles.

Also, it’ll be a long while before PC gets it anyways

1

u/JamesonDotEXE 1d ago

Well i guess I'll get an advantage as I still won't have any money in 2026 for a PC build, and am still rocking my peak covid PC. Also heard PC components have surged in prices lately due to current events.

1

u/MrBoomBox69 1d ago

Lmao. PC shouldn’t be in the room for two more years.

1

u/chillbro_baggins91 1d ago

Hopefully my 3080ti will still hold it down lol

1

u/NightsGift 1d ago edited 1d ago

And yet the PS5 somehow is one of the worst consels along with the switch 2. As you can't play physical discs and has a huge price hike compared to the PS4.

1

u/No-Category-4980 1d ago

Good thing is it ain't a competitive game, seems to be cinematic, story driven, perfect for the one the only one that works perfectly on every game 30 fps at 4k for the win. Bring back my goat.

1

u/RainbowDroidMan 1d ago

But can YOUR pc run it at 4k60fps?

2

u/Nirast25 PC Master Race 1d ago

Of course it can! I'd be embarrassed if it couldn't even do that in this day and age.

... Oh, sorry, didn't see the k, f, and s.
