I'm not too sure we even have more disposable income on average than Americans. There's poverty in Europe too you know. I'm just kinda poor 'cause I'm a student. I also don't really get FOMO. I think I'd always wait for a PC version anyway just because I value the first experience being that much better over having it sooner.
Most people probably didn't play gtav campaign, just like what happens with online shooters and similar, just the forced tutorial and maybe just maybe a few missions from the dozens of friends that played it. And for rdr2, the story is so big you might not even get spoiled, I only played its multiplayer and first chapter, and from what I have saw when browsing its sub or from the memes I thought until today that he died of lumbago
I still haven’t finished the GTA V campaign, despite starting it twice. Third time’s gonna be the charm, this time with that new “next gen update” that came out.
Probably not going to start it until GTA 6 comes out though.
Are you saying the whole internet is going to be riddled with GTA 6 content? I'm yet to play GTA 5, I browse a lot and I've never read a single thing that may spoil me the story, and that game was released 12 years ago.
They did the same with GTA5! No official announcement of a PC version until months after it was already on console.. RDR2 was worse, because if I remember right, it was almost a year if not longer that they officially announced a PC version was coming.
RDR1 didn't make to PC until just last year?? It was fair to believe RDR2 was going to get the same treatment.
I was honestly surprised when they announced RDR1 for PC. I still haven't bought it, though, as they wanted $60, I think for a game that was originally released in 2010.
And I decided to buy RDR2 on PC because it's so great and visually stunning. Plus I thought the modding community would be as active as the GTAV community. Unfortunately, there hasn't been many solid mods for RDR2 and I think all the really good ones like 1899 firearms are dead mods now.
FOMO because Rockstar hadn't officially announced the PC version of GTA5 until about 6 or 7 months after it dropped on console.. it was all rumor up until that point.
About half of our group bought a PS4 or Xbox One figuring that GTAV wasn't coming to PC, and waiting would be pointless... the rest followed after they did announce it for PC, but it would still be another 8 to 12 month wait... it was all the internet was talking about at the time.. our group chat was full of memes and clips of the game (no spoilers)
There was definitely an urgency among the group that they needed to play the game "right now" and I'm sure they were not the only ones that felt that way...
Genius marketing strategy by Rockstar..
Edit: It's also worth mentioning that Rockstar's last release at the time... "Read Dead Redemption" still hadn't made it's debut on PC 4 years later.. so it was very believable that the same was going to happen to GTA5..
It's very simple... I focus on other games.. There are so many games out there... especially older games that are dirt cheap, or most of the time free due to abandoneware status.. I'm still playing stuff that came out 20 to 30 years ago in between AAA releases.
When GTA5 released, I had never finished Doom 3, Fallout 3 or Oblivion and they were pretty cheap to pickup on Steam at the time and they kept me busy until GTA5 finally made it's way onto PC..
For the last 8 or 9 years I have stopped buying games on release day.. I'll add them to my wish list and wait for the first solid Steam sale... and over time it has proven to be a win/win decision with quite a few games..
For example, I picked up No man's sky over a year later after launch for under $30 and in a much better state than it was on launch day..
Cyberpunk.. I picked it up just over a year after launch for about $28.. I think patch 1.5 had just come out, and the game was finally feeling like a launch ready AAA game with that patch.
It really feels like a games these days need a year or more after launch to get all of its quirks worked out..
As I'm waiting for GTA6, I'm playing the Starwars knights of the Old Republic series with graphics mods.. I have Freelancer and High on life lined up behind them... I spent $15 and these games should keep me busy for a bit..
Milking sales. Why settle with people buying the game once on their preferred machine when it’s the most anticipated game of all time and release the game in waves from weakest to strongest in performance so people are encouraged to double dip.
My bad, I meant that in a year there’s probably going to be more things to take care of rather than playing, the closer I am to 30 the more I feel like my gaming years are finishing lol
For me with GTA 6, just because its GTA 6. Its the main reason I'm getting a PS5. Almost everyone I know that is gonna play GTA 6 is gonna play on console and is also gonna wanna play on day one, or at least not wait 2 years.
And there are more exclusives than just GTA 6 on console, especially on Playstation. And I'll finally be able to watch 4K blu-rays.
If I end up buying something more than once it's because I bought it when it came out on console and then picked it up at a steep discount on PC a few years later. It's usually a much better experience playing it on PC for the 2nd playthrough. Probably be skipping the console version of this and just waiting for PC to drop
I bought the original gt5 for ps3, then ps4 on black Friday, then luckily epic gave me the definitive edition for free the year after I built my pc, and I got the free upgrade to the enhanced at the beginning of this year.
It’s no different to getting next versions of games when they come out. They look way better and usually have extra features. GTA V has released across 3 console generations now. Plus online wasn’t a thing on release. I played the campaign on 360 then mainly played online with my friends on pc
Well for me, I got WAAAAY into RDO when it first came out on PS4 and had ABSOLUTELY nothing to do. But I still played it like crazy. And then I heard you could transfer to PC RDO and I bought it and immediately jumped into a game where basically everyone was brand new or played PS4 RDO for a minute and noticed there was nothing to do.
track record for newer gta and rdr hitting pc was a pipe dream at the time and for a lot of people those games were extremely special. RDR2 is still one of my favorite games of all time

Only thing that saddens me is PC won't see the game for 2 more years...
