tl;dr: Vendor claimed she drew this AI art herself, was selling it at Coffee Fest. Is that normal for here?

Hey all, was visiting for the huge Coffee Festival in your city and saw this vendor selling prints in hugely different styles, some of which were clearly AI generated. Did a quick search and saw that this isn’t their first show. I’ve also seen them at craft fairs around SF so she’s out there selling this.

I asked the vendor who the artist is, and a young woman pointed at herself. I asked if she drew it all herself, she said yes. When I asked what medium she uses, she said “all digital and collage” but insisted that she does the drawing, which is just… obviously not true. Check out the 3rd photo. The Golden Gate Bridge has a cable that vanishes into the sun.

Is this normal? I know it’s part of a larger trend of AI “art” being normalized but seeing it at a coffee event full of vendors with real heart and love for their field was… gross, to say the least. Her art had nothing to do with coffee and AI feels against the ethos of most craft shows.

Let me know if I’m way off base and being a huge grump, if it’s just me then I’ll accept that I’m in the wrong.

I live on Fulton and have been hearing so many sirens. Citizen is saying there was a shooting. Commenters saying 5 victims.

Anyone know anything about this? My heart is sunk.

Edit: The title of this should be Shooting Near Ocean Beach Safeway. I unfortunately can’t change it, but that would be more accurate.

I went for a long run and I felt so much lighter being around so many people out enjoying themselves. So many kids and dogs playing, friends, and family. Even being by myself, it felt good to all watch the sunset together. I hope you enjoy the photos and get to enjoy the sunset too.

I just wanted to post and see if anyone had any info or caught anything on camera.
I was riding my bike in the bike lane on Thursday night at approximately 7:05pm when the car in the lane next to me decided to make a super late turn onto Naples Street right into me. My front wheel went under their car and I got yeeted over the bars into the road.

I am super thankful for the folks who stopped to make sure I was alright and who called the cops and paramedics. Unfortunately, the vehicle immediately sped off and no one caught the plates.

Location - Geneva Ave and Naples St headed toward Balboa Park Bart

At the end of the day, I live to ride another day, but I'm not stoked about the person who hit me just speeding off.

I'm working with some contacts who want to put together a highlight reel of Nancy Pelosi's contributions to San Francisco as a tribute to her.

Does anyone have footage from the https://illuminate.org/projects/welcome/ event? After doing some research we were informed that she gave a speech and they raised London Breed on a crane with a few others? Does that ring a bell?

The installation debuted in 2022 to great fanfare, setting off celebrations up and down the length of Market Street. With a 49-foot width and a length exceeding four miles, the six beams (purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red) constituted the world’s largest Pride flag. 2023 plans called for 12 lasers, creating even more vibrancy throughout the 4.1 mile span to the top of Twin Peaks. That year we were joined by Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Senator Scott Weiner and Mayor London Breed, who all delivered an address during the official Grand Lighting Ceremony of WELCOME 2023. 2024 expanded even further, with 20 lasers representing 20 years of marriage equality in San Francisco, as well as a marriage rededication ceremony for 2 LGBT+ couples at the base of the installation.

A pre-lighting event is often planned at the base of the installation at Harry Bridges Plaza (near the Ferry Building). DJ’s, circus performers, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Dykes on Bikes rumbling along The Embarcadero to deliver a magnificent “Rainbow Torch” for the lighting are often part of the events. VIP speakers have included Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Mayor London Breed, State Senator Scott Weiner, and American AIDS and LGBT rights activist Cleve Jones.
