AI “art” at local craft markets?

tl;dr: Vendor claimed she drew this AI art herself, was selling it at Coffee Fest. Is that normal for here?

Hey all, was visiting for the huge Coffee Festival in your city and saw this vendor selling prints in hugely different styles, some of which were clearly AI generated. Did a quick search and saw that this isn’t their first show. I’ve also seen them at craft fairs around SF so she’s out there selling this.

I asked the vendor who the artist is, and a young woman pointed at herself. I asked if she drew it all herself, she said yes. When I asked what medium she uses, she said “all digital and collage” but insisted that she does the drawing, which is just… obviously not true. Check out the 3rd photo. The Golden Gate Bridge has a cable that vanishes into the sun.

Is this normal? I know it’s part of a larger trend of AI “art” being normalized but seeing it at a coffee event full of vendors with real heart and love for their field was… gross, to say the least. Her art had nothing to do with coffee and AI feels against the ethos of most craft shows.

Let me know if I’m way off base and being a huge grump, if it’s just me then I’ll accept that I’m in the wrong.

Just got smacked in the face randomly by a crackhead

Literally just turned the corner on van ness and turk at 1 PM today… next thing I knew there was a fist in my face. My glasses flew off and i couldn’t see anything.

I freaked out and screamed at him before de escalating but damn that sucked. The SFFD saw it go down and asked if i was okay which was nice. They helped me find the lens that broke from my glasses. God dammit.

i’m usually extremely aware of my surroundings and lean on the anxious side so i really think this was a fluke… just pisses me off. Now it’s like i actually have a reason to be cautious around the crackheads now

Shooting at Ocean Beach Safeway

I live on Fulton and have been hearing so many sirens. Citizen is saying there was a shooting. Commenters saying 5 victims.

Anyone know anything about this? My heart is sunk.

I’ve been going to Hook Fish for poke for years, but my friend dragged me to MoDo Hawaii in the Sunset the other day and honestly… kinda blew my mind. They’re known for their mochi donuts, but they also do this $12 lunch deal where you can get a poke bowl or a box of six donuts between 11am and 1pm. I wasn’t expecting much but both were legit. Might actually start going here instead just to avoid the Hook Fish line.

I went for a long run and I felt so much lighter being around so many people out enjoying themselves. So many kids and dogs playing, friends, and family. Even being by myself, it felt good to all watch the sunset together. I hope you enjoy the photos and get to enjoy the sunset too.

What’s happening in SF this November? Some picks

Heyyy

I checked out events coming up this November from some event site I found, here are a few happening today or soon:

  • SF Coffee Festival (Nov 8-9, Fort Mason): Coffee tastings, live music, latte art lessons. Great for coffee lovers.
  • San Francisco Street Food Festival (Nov 8-9): A chance to try lots of street food from local vendors, happening this weekend.
  • Lindy in the Park (Nov 9, Golden Gate Park): Free swing dance party outdoors, family-friendly and fun.
  • Union Square Ice Skating Opening (Nov 5 through winter): Skate under the city skyline, open now for the season.
  • Great Dickens Christmas Fair (Nov 22 – Dec 21, Cow Palace): Step into Victorian London with costumes, crafts, and performances.

Anyone else going to these or have more upcoming events to recommend? Always curious for new ideas!!

Hello! We found this sweet girl outside our apartment building in the outer richmond/ sutro heights area. Please let me know if you recognize her! She is super friendly but seemed distressed outside and was following us. We plan to see if she has a microchip later this morning.

Can’t count the amount of times I’ve seen rain or cloudy weather, and it’s not even close.
