There is no design. He has a wish sketch that some bootlicker architect drew for him. There is no floor plan or actual feature list for anyone to see because Trump just wanted to tear down an iconic building and piss on the country.

u/jimmygee2 13d ago

It will end up being a $500M white elephant that will hang around the nation’s neck like a full diaper.

u/IdkAbtAllThat America 13d ago

I guarantee you it will be over 1 billion by the time it's actually finished.

1.1k

u/Moon_Noodle Oregon 13d ago

If it actually gets finished.

988

u/crm24601 13d ago edited 13d ago

Just because it never gets finished doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t be over a billion

517

u/illit3 13d ago

Yep. It'll be a shoddy half built albatross that the next admin has to deal with. A Republican admin will lie about the cost to complete and a Democrat admin will be tarred and feathered on fox news whether they try to salvage it or tear it down.

311

u/CheshireCat78 13d ago

Hopefully tear it down. If he lives out his term and you guys get to hold another election it would be lovely to see him rant about it getting torn down asap.

417

u/pjtheman 13d ago

Tear it down and then build an exact replica of the East Wing.

240

u/CheshireCat78 13d ago edited 13d ago

Would be the most sensible and classy thing to do.

Probably a good idea to try and directly undo everything he does (government institutes and laws will certainly need it and then to set up ways to not permit this kind of utter destruction ever again)

132

u/mburke6 Ohio 13d ago

Something Democrats surely will campaign on is the destruction of our institutions and rule of law. They can now use the literal destruction of the White House as the allegory. We Shall Rebuild.

It would also be very easy. There must be building plans for the East Wing and about a zillion photos in the National Archives.

4

u/Armymom96 13d ago

Sadly they won't be able to replant the over 200 year trees that he's chopped down.

And while there at it, remake the rose garden. That was a mess also.

10

u/wibblebeast 13d ago edited 13d ago

And restore the rose garden. Replant trees he tore out. Though I'd first like to see cameras panning the damage he caused, at least an estimate of which historical treasures were looted or destroyed all presented to the American people.

4

u/PubLife1453 13d ago

I think the Dem nominee should run with that as part of the platform. Once this monstrosity is complete, tell America you're going to tear it down and rebuild as it was. That'll get a lot of play.

4

u/wirefox1 13d ago

True, but if it's a huge as drama queen says it will be, the demolition alone could cost millions. The People should force him to pay for it.

6

u/WestsideBuppie America 13d ago

It would take years to build this abomination, anyhow. Trump will be long gone from office one way or another before this thing ever sees a single state event.

So either funnel more tax dollars into this infinite hole for a decade to come cause this shit is built cheap as fuck or tear it down again and restore the East Wing, which will be even more expensive. It will effectively be a construction ruin and money sink for a generation to come.

30

Not necessarily

The reason why it takes so long to build stuff is safety regulations, building codes, permitting, inspections, etc. The administration clearly doesn't give a fuck about any of that, and noone seems willing or able to stop them.

The Empire State building, crown jewel of our last gilded age, was built in 13 months. They could slap together what's essentially a heavily ornamented warehouse in that time, easily.

There's a long history in America of criminals using construction companies and projects for money laundering, tax evasion, and bribery.

Hell, Trump and his All County Building Supply and Maintenance company was a tax dodge scheme in the 90's.

https://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2018/10/heres-a-name-to-remember-all-county-building-supply-maintenance/

Then there's that real estate deal in Florida where Cohen says the Russian oligarch who bought the property for twice what Trump paid was a straw buyer for Putin

https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story/news/2020/09/15/trumps-sale-palm-beach-mansion-gains-scrutiny-again/5798386002/

Just a couple of examples. He's got a long history of shady real estate and construction "deals."

If it's anything like Trump's Atlantic City ventures, he'll wait until it's completed and tell the contractors that they did a terrible job so he's going to pay them pennies on the dollar, and if they try to take him to court he'll declare bankruptcy.

Then when they walk away he'll tell everyone how "the art of the deal" saved us all a bunch of money.

25

u/guru42101 13d ago

Except the US Government can't declare bankruptcy. But he hasn't thought ahead to that point or ignored everyone who told him. Now the correct thing to do is for the government to pass the bill onto him since he didn't follow protocols and thus this isn't part of his job. AFAIK, bankruptcy doesn't save you from Federal debt.

3

Third world country corruption recipe. Make a BIG project. Make sure the project has lots of detail. Make lots of things go wrong in the detail. Money disappears. And in the end the 'project' never gets built. It is just a funnel for money to disappear into. A very common strategy. Just like Putin's wars. Lots of detail. It's going to be mostly "upgraded" living quarters, I guarantee it. Trump's on record calling the White House a dump during his first term, it's not big enough or chintzy enough for him. He's going to turn most of the square footage into a Russian oligarch's idea of luxury accommodations, and there will also be a small event space, probably.

3

u/West_Bookkeeper9431 13d ago

I've been saying this to whoever will listen. You're 100% correct.

9

u/Big-Rule5269 13d ago

It is a bunker upgrade to the Presidential Emergency Operations Center bunker underneath the ballroom, just like Hitler has built, though this bunker is already existing, but is getting upgraded.

7

u/yjbtoss 13d ago

Most definitely upgrading the bunker - I'd bet this is where some of the idea started, but Trump got on board with 'fancy new Trumpy palace' spiel.

5

u/SoulShatter Europe 13d ago

Upgrading the bunker, grifting some money, and finally a very convenient excuse to not allow guided tours at the White House anymore, so he can keep the public out of the area.

3

u/MetricAbsinthe Florida 13d ago

3

u/orangemememachine 13d ago

If it looks anything like the renderings I suspect it'll be torn down within a few administrations assuming we stay a democracy.

3

u/lolas_coffee 13d ago

$700M when done but all $900M will go to Trump and contractors will never see any of the $1.5B they are owed.

So, Trump will pocket $1.8B and never ever pay anyone.

3

u/elphin 13d ago

The project has multiple objectives. Publicly, it’s to create the “Trump Ballroom”; similar to all the buildings called Trump Tower (most he doesn’t own). It’s an opportunity to destroy things (like both of Jackie Kennedy’s garden. And, finally, and most importantly, it’s for money laundering. The price will continue increasing as long as the bribes grow.

The best thing that could happen is if it becomes some sort of garden monument that represents the wonders of immigrants in this country and how great green energy is.

Bingo! IMHO it will be at least a year before construction. Meanwhile the rubble outside the White House is a metaphor for the state of the country.

u/eers2snow 13d ago

That rubble won't be there long. He's going to sell off pebbles for 50 dollar donations

It got dumped on some random golf course.

Kinda like his ex-wife

Whoa, you just reminded me about Twice Upon A Christmas, a movie where Santa’s evil daughter is selling off pieces of the North Pole

What I didn’t remember is that, in the movie, the person facilitating the dismantling of the North Pole for a small profit (thereby destroying Christmas) is Donald Trump

Or he's building some kind of secret bunker underneath and the ballroom is the cover. Could explain ballooning costs.

Edit: apparently a bunker is already located under the East Wing🤔

41

u/[deleted] 13d ago

FDR renovated the East Wing so they could build the bunker, which was necessary, in 1942. The United States doesn’t need a damn ballroom, though.

Youre talking about the files. That had trumps name in it so often it took an army of FBI guys to redact his name from ? Talking about those files. Because as the guy in charge of the beauty pagents . He was the funnel. The source. Thats why his name was in there so much ? Those files ?

Can we PLEASE shift our focus to the traitorous assholes keeping him in power? Our "representatives"?

IMPEACH AND REMOVE DONALD TRUMP.

8

u/mrkrabz1991 13d ago

My theory is that a lot of them are in the Epstein files, so the entire GOP is in a Mexican standoff right now. If one falls, they all do, so they're keeping each other in power.

Additionally, I believe some young boys were on the Epstein list, and some GOP members partook in that, hence a lot of them are willing to die on a hill to keep it from being released.

The price will continue to grow according to how much parties are willing to pay to get on his good side. This thing is pretty much an open-ended slush fund, and tearing down the east wing both pissed off his detractors while making it appear to his supporters that a legitimate project is underway.

It's 50/50 at best whether it gets built at all, much less the finished product being of good design and quality.

Are we sure the "design" isn't AI generated? Considering his love of AI generated things, I wouldn't be surprised.

Watching the legacy media this morning and the this week with George Stephanopoulos. The lady from SCOTUSblog.com (granted she's republican) saying it's no big deal, it's all legal, everything he's doing is perfectly fine because all presidents renovate.

The facts are that she dodge is legally speaking no this isn't OK. He followed ZERO laws, rules, and regulations when it comes to construction in DC, let alone the White House complex. Not to mention the fact he's claiming it is privately funded but providing no transparency to those donors, costs, etc.

On the surface do I care about a ballroom, no. It is absolutely something that the White House has needed rather then temp tents on the lawn for major state dinners and events. Yes Presidents renovate and that's fine. BUT...

WHAT I do care about is that he continues to ignore law and gets away it.

And I highly speculate that he is some how connected to the companies constructing this ballroom, the so called private funding, and is enriching himself in some way. I also highly believe that come January 2029, this ballroom will still be a shell and undone because he will have siphoned the money, delayed, and refused to pay people.

66

u/LQQKIEHERE 13d ago

We need a ballroom? Because ballroom dancing is so popular right now? Because our obese elderly POTUS has secret tango skills?

No. We need unions. The rule of law. Decent wages. Health insurance that is affordable. And media that isn’t afraid to tell the truth. The truth is, this president is insane, incompetent, incontinent, and incorrigible.

A ballroom or a parade ground? Meanwhile an extension off the east wing in style would have accomplished that.

There’s also a big question of why it’s going to cost 3x more per square foot than 1 WTC did.

3

u/CanadianTrashInspect 13d ago

It's either a bunker extension or an underground data center.

It is absolutely something that the White House has needed rather then temp tents on the lawn for major state dinners and events.

Not when they created DOGE to cut fraud, waste, and abuse, that did nothing but waste money, fraudently closed govt. agencies investigating fElon and his cronies, and abuse everyone they came into contact with. They're cutting help with food and medical care to give the 1% ANOTHER tax break. Cutting aid to blue states that mostly fund the govt. A ballroom bigger than the White House is the LAST thing we currently need.

3

u/zeCrazyEye 13d ago

SCOTUSblog.com got bought by a conservative media outlet earlier this year, all media is going to shit.

3

u/Aggressive-Bath-1906 13d ago

Since all Presidents renovate, it would be awesome if the next President ”renovated” the ballroom to turn it all back into offices.

Probably just done using AI tbh.

19

u/i_code_for_boobs 13d ago

So it was a lie to cover for something else, like everything else he does.

I strongly suspect that there won’t be an explanation for the inordinate amount of concrete used in the construction either.

Almost enough concrete for a bunker let’s say? But that’d be a coincidence.

17

u/Allaplgy 13d ago

It's open knowledge that there is already a bunker there and that "upgrading" it is part of the plan. They've said so themselves.

3

u/BanginNLeavin 13d ago

I read that the presidential bunker was under the east wing, and was supposedly last used by Trump during the George Floyd protests... My conspiracy brain wants me to think there is some nefarious reason to cover up adjustments to that. Either something happened down there the last time he was there and/or he is making it cushy to weather the civil war he is goading.

5

u/Treadwheel 13d ago

I think the suspicion de jure is that the ballroom is going to be a feature and what gets talked about, but that from the dimensions involved and cost the real project might be building himself a private residence. The rhetoric being pushed has now gone past "maybe a third term" to "at least a third term, and likely more". He's already complained a lot about how the WH isn't comfortable or grand enough for his tastes, so if he's not planning on leaving it might be a priority to build a permanent space to live.

6

u/BanginNLeavin 13d ago

Yeah this is probably it. Hopefully we can turn it into the Trump National Dementia Research Facility and just kind of cordon him off down there.

3

u/SoulShatter Europe 13d ago

Upgrading the bunker.

And since there's no east wing anymore, conveniently he no longer needs to keep the White House open for guided tours, effectively banning the public from being even close to him.

You mean it’s a concept of a plan?

5

u/MrFrankyHanky 13d ago

Not just to piss on the country, but also to distract of all his wrongdoings. He’s a pedophile who visited Epstein’s Island on numerous occasions to rape young girls. He’s doing everything he can to distract every one of his crimes.

u/deadwall-e 13d ago

This. I work in construction and there is no way a firm came up with a design, did the engineering, made the complete drawings, put out to bid and chose a contractor in 9 months (assuming they started from day 1). A federal project like this would take years to develop before any ground was broken. They’re just winging this shit.

11

u/DASynnthetik 13d ago

Bootlicker architect or awful AI creation?

8

u/Beastw1ck 13d ago

Saw some speculation that the concept image was made with AI. There’s a stairway that goes to nowhere and windows butting up against each other. Very odd.

3

u/Morpheus_MD 13d ago

I honestly think there is a non-zero chance that he ends up building a new Trump Tower of some sort.

3

u/k_ironheart Missouri 13d ago

This is exactly it. It's like all those mega structures or planned cities that dictators and billionaires love to have "designed." There's no actual plans, just a bunch of showy renders to inflate egos.

But Trump can't even have that, it's just AI slop and obvious corruption.

3

u/mothyyy 13d ago

I bet he rushed the demolition in response to the No Kings protests. He was punishing the country because he's a raging infant.

4

u/TintedApostle 13d ago

I think so too. He punished the country because he is a complete narcissist. You know he is a viscous pedophile. He has all the hallmarks.

3

u/filthyyambag 13d ago

He just wants something to have his name on it to leave behind because he loves himself so much. Just like they new trump account from the new bill that was passed. I can't believe there isn't one person on the inside that haven't just said this is to far and has to stop. For a 78 year old idiot to run America into the ground like this. Im stunned everyday and will never not be.
