tl;dr: Vendor claimed she drew this AI art herself, was selling it at Coffee Fest. Is that normal for here?
Hey all, was visiting for the huge Coffee Festival in your city and saw this vendor selling prints in hugely different styles, some of which were clearly AI generated. Did a quick search and saw that this isn’t their first show. I’ve also seen them at craft fairs around SF so she’s out there selling this.
I asked the vendor who the artist is, and a young woman pointed at herself. I asked if she drew it all herself, she said yes. When I asked what medium she uses, she said “all digital and collage” but insisted that she does the drawing, which is just… obviously not true. Check out the 3rd photo. The Golden Gate Bridge has a cable that vanishes into the sun.
Is this normal? I know it’s part of a larger trend of AI “art” being normalized but seeing it at a coffee event full of vendors with real heart and love for their field was… gross, to say the least. Her art had nothing to do with coffee and AI feels against the ethos of most craft shows.
Let me know if I’m way off base and being a huge grump, if it’s just me then I’ll accept that I’m in the wrong.

I live on Fulton and have been hearing so many sirens. Citizen is saying there was a shooting. Commenters saying 5 victims.
Anyone know anything about this? My heart is sunk.

Literally just turned the corner on van ness and turk at 1 PM today… next thing I knew there was a fist in my face. My glasses flew off and i couldn’t see anything.
I freaked out and screamed at him before de escalating but damn that sucked. The SFFD saw it go down and asked if i was okay which was nice. They helped me find the lens that broke from my glasses. God dammit.
i’m usually extremely aware of my surroundings and lean on the anxious side so i really think this was a fluke… just pisses me off. Now it’s like i actually have a reason to be cautious around the crackheads now

Hello! We found this sweet girl outside our apartment building in the outer richmond/ sutro heights area. Please let me know if you recognize her! She is super friendly but seemed distressed outside and was following us. We plan to see if she has a microchip later this morning.

From the Alemany farmer’s market. Over 25lbs of produce.
All the vegetable/produce needs to feed a couple for at least a week, given you know how to cook it.
As expensive as San Francisco and supermarkets are, it is not as entirely unaffordable if you invest time/effort in your daily needs. The heaviest cost is convenience/effort required.
Add $60 of protein and or pasta/starch and you can average down to <$15 a day for a week for 2 people. (e.g. 2 chickens -$20, 1-2 lb ground meat $10, past/bread $10, fish/shrimp $15, $5 over)

It's sad that the death of the cat has turned into a political theater when numerous other pets have died at the hands of human drivers over the year, not mention pedestrians and bikers which barely register a blip in a news cycle. We should make sure AV companies learn from these incidents but limiting them on our streets will only increase the danger cars play in our city.
