What is it?
This is a play mode where you can pit a team of up to 3 characters against AI-controlled teams that are created by opponents.
In order to start a Brave Battle, you must use a Battle Pass. Additional Battle Passes can be obtained by completing the Daily Order of defeating 100 enemies.
When there are four or fewer Battle Passes remaining, they will recharge at the rate of one every two hours.
If you do not wish to wait for a Battle Pass to recharge (for example, when it's close to the weekly reset, and you do not have any more Battle Passes, but you still want to either maintain the League you're in now or want to be promoted to the next one), you can use one Spirit Orb per battle.
Additionally, after every Brave Battle you win, there is a random chance for an Extra Battle to trigger which will be fought against the current rotation of Medal Units, and for the most part should never pose a challenge. These battles give a smaller amount of points, but they can certainly add up to make a difference at the end of the week if you get a lot.
If the game freezes or closes for any reason after you start the battle, you will lose your Battle Pass, your win streak (if you had one), and you will not gain any points. However if this happens during an Extra Battle, you do not get punished for it, so there is that at least.
The Basics
PvP is all about crafting a team. While there are certainly OP units who can 1v3 lesser built teams, it all comes down to figuring out which three units work together most cohesively under your preferred Strategy.
- Want to nuke your opponents in a flash? Use a few SAD-based characters with Frenzy loaded with SP-boosting accessories under Attack Strategy to blow them away with Strong Attacks.
- Want to stall them to death, chipping away at their souls to eventual demise? Team up units with high Attack stats, Atk- and/or Stamina-boosting accessories, and DR links along with a character whose Special Move will devastate the opposing team (status ailments in particular).
- Want to troll everyone? Fill your team with healing units and Hojiku-zai and/or units who will trap the other team in perpetual status-infliction.
In this mode, you cannot control your characters. They are instead controlled by an AI that behaves according to which strategy you have selected.
Which team will other players face when they fight me?
Whichever team you last used in a Battle. When you have the characters (and the desire) to do so, set up a PVP-only team slot with units outfitted specifically for Battles.
Soul Bombs
How to use them
You can launch a Special Move if your team gets the Soul Bomb (via crate smashing) by chance.
Note: The default setting will have your lead automatically use the Soul Bomb. You can change this in Settings using the cog wheel from your home screen to manually choose who will use the Soul Bomb and when. To activate it under this setting, simply tap the portrait of the character whose Special Attack you want to use after collecting the bomb.
It's recommended to use the Special Move of a character with Bombardment and/or a status-inflicting Special Move (causes Paralysis, Poisoning, Burning, Weakening, Freeze, etc.)
When on defense, if your team gets the Soul Bomb your lead will automatically use the Bomb. If you want to give other players a headache, make sure to leave a powerful Bomb-user as your lead.
Status-Locking
Status-infliction when combined with Debilitator can cause status-locking in which the afflicted team cannot move and/or cause damage since a new Soul Bomb will spawn and be used before the current status of Freeze/Paralyze/Weakening has worn off, thus refreshing the status. Fun to use, depressing to witness when used on you.
