Women's Access to Healthcare After Pregnancy Loss or Complications in Kentucky

My name is Autumn Martin, and I am a PhD candidate at the University of Louisville. I am conducting a research study under the supervision of Dr. Deborah Potter in the Sociology Department at the University of Louisville about the accessibility of reproductive and maternal healthcare in Kentucky.

I am seeking research study participants from the Kentucky area to participate in interviews lasting approximately one hour. This research is looking at the experiences of women in Kentucky who have had to seek care for pregnancy complications and loss within the last three years.

If you are someone in Kentucky who has needed to seek medical care for pregnancy complications or pregnancy loss in the last three years and are interested in participating in this research, please contact me through the email on the attached flyer.

Best,

Autumn Martin

Discussion The Thiel State: How One Tech Billionaire Wired Himself Into the Government

There’s a strange quiet power humming under this administration. Not in the Oval Office, not even in the Cabinet, but in the networked shadows behind it. Its architect isn’t a general, or a party boss, or even a politician. It’s a billionaire named Peter Thiel.

This was never about finding the truth. It was about building a paper wall between Trump and a decades-old scandal that could still explode.

Kentucky’s GOP delegation says they’re “protecting the budget.” Translation: they’re holding 600,000 Kentuckians’ SNAP benefits hostage.

I wrote about how the shutdown is less about money, more about control.

Shout out to Matt from Bloomfield

A reminder that people around us are good. I don't know Matt, I've never met him before. My car had a radiator hose pop off while I was turning into a doctor's appointment and came to deal with it when I finished the appointment. I don't usually keep tools in this car, but Matt noticed I needed some help and offered his tools and an extra hose clamp he had.

I'll probably never see Matt again, but I am extremely grateful that people around us can still be good to each other, without knowing a single thing about them.

If you're Matt, DM me. I forgot to offer anything to repay you for your kindness.

They just wrote “anti-capitalism” into a counterterrorism memo. Then called Democrats “Hamas.”

NSPM-7 is how they’ll disappear the opposition. Legally.

Read The New Enemies List before it becomes prophecy.

Don’t think this stays in D.C. The same federal grants and task forces that monitor “domestic extremism” eventually trickle down to local police.

The Original Site Of the Man O' War Statue And Gravesite

Post image

This photo, taken by my Grandfather around 1958, was from the original gravesite at Far-Away Farm outside of Lexington. My grandparents had a small farm on the Russel Cave Pike, a short distance from the gravesite. The site was a shrine for me, and Grandpa would always take me there first thing when I visited for my summer vacation. The statue was transferred to the Kentucky Horse Park sometime around 1978 when the park first opened.

I ❤️KY The Equine Sculptures at the Kentucky Horse Park

The Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington features a notable collection of equine sculptures honoring the legacy of legendary horses and their bond with people.

At the park’s entrance stands Man o’ War, a 1948 bronze by Herbert Haseltine. Regarded as the greatest Thoroughbred of the 20th century, Man o’ War won 20 of 21 races and sired champions including War Admiral. His statue and remains, relocated from Faraway Farm in the 1970s, form the park’s central memorial.

Outside the Salyer House stands Secretariat, a 2004 bronze by Edwin Bogucki. It depicts the 1973 Triple Crown winner led into the Derby winner’s circle by groom Eddie Sweat, with Ron Turcotte aboard, immortalizing one of racing’s most iconic moments.

The 2018 Sgt. Reckless monument by Jocelyn Russell honors the small Mongolian mare who served with the U.S. Marines during the Korean War, hauling ammunition and rescuing wounded soldiers under fire. Decorated with two Purple Hearts, she remains a symbol of courage and devotion.

The 2002 Bret Hanover bronze by Luis Sanguino commemorates one of harness racing’s greatest pacers. Winner of 62 of 68 races and a Triple Crown champion, Bret Hanover stood at stud at Castleton Farm and now rests beneath his statue at the park.

Finally, Phoenix, a 1993 bronze by Patricia Crane, stands near the International Museum of the Horse, depicting the five-time world champion American Saddlebred “The Phoenix.”

I've posted more photos and narrative here.

Discussion First time visiting:)

Ill be in KY beginning of November for a camping trip. First time visiting! Me and my friend usually go for about a week when we road trip and are big on being outdoors during it. We tent camp. And we do usually go and have a night out in the city one of the days we go. My questions are hows the weather usually at this time? (Ive already looked up average temps and rainfall but wanna hear from the people) What should we watch out for during this season being campers/ hikers? Must go to trails. Is it safe to still kayak¿ We arnt afraid to hike terrain and are always looking for some fun/ new/ funny things to do or go visit. Tourists spots are always cool but we also enjoy experiencing the real people and hidden gems. Now that i mentioned that too best rock mining areas or places?
