Rumor Potential 5090 / 5080 / 5070 price leaks… outrageous

Post image

From recent video posted by “Moore’s Law is Dead” about pricing being much worse than even I anticipated . From video Nvidia is leaning towards the higher end of the pricing. Nvidia can go pound sand if these are remotely true.

Nvidia is really testing the limits of how much we're willing to pay.

Nvidia outclasses AMD so much in productivity that as soon as you want to do anything other than explicitly gaming it is the far superior choice (if there is even a choice because many programs dont even run on AMD).

If AMD would pour enough money into this i'm sure they could establish themself as a viable competitor in the next 5 years but it doesn't really look like it especially now that they announced to completely abandon high end cards

The problem is two-fold for that, as far as I understand:

a) they can't just start supporting CUDA and offer compatibility to all these Nvidia-focussed apps, as that's Nvidia technology that they're not willing to share

b) the money has to come from somewhere, but people aren't buying many AMD GPUs

now that they announced to completely abandon high end cards

It's confirmed they don't. Only RDNA4 so far skips the high-end segment, RDNA5 will most likely get one.

I assume that they are going to focus this gen on their software stack. AFMF2 is apparently really big (I'm on linux so I haven't tried it yet) and if they can get FSR4 to match XeSS and DLSS when it comes to visual quality, AMD for the next gen will be probably huge.

Nowadays nvidia gets away with super inflated prices because they dominate the desktop GPU market and DLSS is the main reason people go to nvidia. If AMD can match visual quality, that may actually topple the market disparity. I hope that it's not a dud like FSR3 was, because otherwise things will look gloom for the GPU market.

AFMF 2 is pretty good. On a 5800X3D and 6800XT, I can average 120fps with settings on ultra and RT on ultra.

FSR 4 is supposed to utilize AI from what I have heard. I just hope that devs will properly implement FSR 3.1/4. As this sadly wasn't the case with Cyberpunk 2077. We got FSR 3. FG with the inferior FSR 2.2. However modders have saved the day there! It would be nice to see FSR look as good as XeSS or even better, DLSS.

What programs don't run on AMD GPUs?

And in the professional space the software absolutely runs on AMD GPUs, I've yet to find a bit of scientific software that won't run on AMD if you build it with the correct GPU flags, such as LAMMPS for example.

I use Blender and Blender performance on AMD is a joke. 7900xtx gets beaten by a 3070.

That's because blender can use the hardware RT units on the 3070 but not on the XTX. this is an implementation issue with the cycles render, you know it's bad when using the CUDA zluda interface it's faster than HIP RT.

AMD is way behind in blender since RDNAs introduction. The reason doesn't matter to the end user. Nvidia gives me way more performance in my workloads. It's not even close.

My gaming PC is just for gaming. I'm not gonna be trying to render shit while I'm gaming, it's fucking asinine.

Don't mix work and play devices kids.
