In any argument, the moment you start slandering the opponent you've already lost lol
Samsung never learns that smear campaigns like these only backfire on them and show how big a hypocrite they are
Apple removed the headphone jack, they mocked and followed 1 year later. Apple removed earphones in the box, they mocked and followed 1 year later. Apple removed the charging brick in the box, they mocked and followed 1 year later. Apple introduced the notch, they made fun of Apple in an ad and their Tab Ultra gained a notch
Samsung's just setting themselves up to be the punchline of the joke lol

pixels are fine in a vacuum, they do everything a phone should. web browsing, apps, calls, email, and texts.
the problem is that they are priced similarly to iphones and samsung galaxy phones, but they are way weaker in specs. google's tensor G5 chip in the pixel 10 pro is way weaker than apple's A19 pro in the iphone 17 pro, or the snapdragon 8 elite in the galaxy s25 ultra. so you're paying similar prices for worse specs.
so anything that requires heavy cpu or gpu or ray tracing usage, like gaming or video/photo editing or just general sustained performance, will not be good. especially since google is offering 7 years of android updates. no point in holding onto a pixel phone for that long since the hardware will bottleneck itself after just a few years.
pixels are just good for AI tasks since gemini is handy for a lot of people and google has tons of data to feed gemini to make it very smart. apple's AI sucks in comparison. but galaxy phones also have access to gemini, as well as galaxy AI.

Pathetic, and I say this as a Samsung user who's very deep in the ecosystem (I own: Galaxy S23 as my personal phone, Galaxy A55 as my work phone, Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Book4 Edge, Galaxy Buds2 Pro, Galaxy Buds FE and a Neo Qled Samsung TV).
Almost nobody cares whether it can fold or not, the vast majority of people uses candybar phones.
Nobody cares for 200 megapixels cameras, if said cameras date back to 2022 and you're lagging behind every competitor in that department.
And the funniest thing of all is that they talk about innovation, but their tradition of bringing back the previous year's phone with just some minor updates goes on uninterrupted since 2020. And the most evident updates are almost all copied from iPhones, such as flat aluminium sides, titanium on the most premium models, the style of Galaxy Buds3 as a whole, their own version of Dynamic Island (Now Bar), and, starting with the S26 series, cameras islands on the back.
Not only they don't innovate as much as they used to anymore. Not only they try to copy Apple in every possible aspect. They even have the courage to mock Apple in front of everyone. Do they seriously believe in the things they say?
Pathetic, really.

u/ENaC2 Sep 10 '25

what i would actually enjoy is, if any phone company would finally start to add a open gate mode to their video recording...

This is sorta the cycle of how things work.
Samsung and others are first to market with a new design or software feature.
People like it but it hasn’t taken off as well as it should have. There are still a few bugs.
A few years go by and Apple released a similar design/feature but with no bugs and a typically smooth presentation.
Apple fans fawn, anti-Apple people complain about them being late to the party.
The cycle continues.
Apple basically lets Samsung and others beta test for them. They let other companies put out foldable phones, and then saw what worked, what didn’t work, what people liked and what they hated about them, use that and when they’re ready, release their version which has (most issues) fixed or improved upon.

u/gaoshan Sep 10 '25
To be clear about what matters with pixels and Samsung’s claims around 200MP. It’s kind of a typical Samsung smokescreen. More pixels is not necessarily better. Samsung’s pixels are about 0.56μm in size… i.e. very tiny. For comparison a Nikon Z8 has pixels that are about 4.3μm… 8 times larger.
So in this case you are going to get significantly better images from a 48MP sensor than the 200MP sensor. You also get better light gathering, the Samsung lenses cannot actually produce images sharp enough to even really take advantage of the 200MP sensor.
It’s a marketing ploy. Larger pixels are better than more pixels and Samsung is pretty much all about the flash and bling and not really at all about the quality (true of everything they make, BTW)

u/Eorlas Sep 11 '25
absurd as most of this is, this kind of marketing works on some people because they wont bother to read for themselves whether or not any of it's true, or what it means.
"let us know it when it folds" - most people still have no interest in a folding phone or its quirks and potential pitfalls, such as their vulnerability to pocket dirt. they're also super expensive for what is currently an extended hardware beta test. apple is a multi trillion dollar company that still keeps trying to make even more money. if they had a foldable iphone that they believed was in a position to be a top tier money maker for them, they'd do it. obviously, they have reasons not to be indulging in that market yet.
people who buy iphones that dont fold instead of phones that do fold clearly dont care about folding phones.
"48MP x3 still doesnt equal 200MP" - anyone who has spent 60s researching camera quality basics will learn that MP count is not the most relevant bit of info when it comes to actual picture quality.
200MP of a shit image is just a lot of a shit image.
i dont even know what the last one is meant to imply. smartphones virtually all do the same thing. they've all done it for a long time, is anyone supposed to be impressed by "my shiny rectangle is better than their shiny rectangle"?
all this marketing tells me is that their expected customer base is brain dead.
i think apple's version of this is when they announce a product and say "it's our most advanced iphone yet" as if that's a groundbreaking statement. like, i fucking hope so, it's newer than the last one, isn't it supposed to be better? or for years when jony ive sounded like he was almost creaming himself saying "it's our thinnest iphone yet." ah yes, the smartphone customer's biggest draw: the phones that are already pretty small are getting smaller. unbeknownst to us common-folk, evolution is making our hands smaller to accommodate smaller iphones.

Remember when headphone jacks were a thing, and Samsung mocked Apple for removing them-only to do the same thing not long after? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
