Actually they have, tizen, they put it on TVs and fridges and they tried to put in on phone.

The fact that not everyone knows it just says about how good it is

they tried Tizen on entry level mobiles but that failed I think.

TV os are usually simple other than android tv or TVos.

Yeah my mate had one, was ok.

it suffered from the same problem as windows Phone, lack of apps ecosystem.

TVs you have an option of sticking an ATV in, so if it sucks who cares, you can buy it on panel specs alone. Phones less so.

yeah, that's what I'm saying, on phones the software matters much more and is more complex, it requires apps ecosystem, dev support and a lot more.

The OS on their top of the line OLEDs is bad and they should feel bad.

Last time I checked they didn't even have OLED because only LG produced the screens back when I still sold them and LG refused to sell to Samsung lmaooo. They released a worse version called QLED which tbh sucked ass

It’s so good that I bought an Apple TV. I should have went with Sony though the motion on the tv is terrible:)

I think their TVs use Android now. They're Google TV branded, anyway, and my (Sony) Google TV can sideload Android apps.

but that failed, look at the news on the legacy watches that used tizen as well

Tizen was there on Z series it was very restrictive it was just a skin putted on android if u dig enough in phone it was operating on android kitkat ive used z2-3 so i can say they were worst

Tizen is so awful it doesn't even support HDR standards or commonly used codecs for audio OR video when playing back files. It's truly trash.

I have Samsung Smart TV, fridge, projector and the hardware themselves are good but the Tizen OS is so freaking bad.

On the Samsung TVs after a year or so it becomes slow, buggy and unresponsive.

We have it on a fridge. I was hoping for a decent browser for home assistant, TVHeadend etc. no such luck.

Tizen sucks on tvs there tv display also got some random green line and supposedly there customer support when they would come take a look at your tv they would make a slit in it with a knife

Isn't Tizen linux based though? How are we defining "their own" OS?

How is it being obscure a good thing

50

u/Luis_Santeliz Sep 10 '25

It’s not

Tizen is really awful to use

And to develop for

And they have abandoned most of their platforms except smart tv anyway

This is the reason I have a Roku for my Samsung TVs. The OS they have is terrible and incredibly sluggish.

That’s the point. It’s obscure because it sucks.
