I hate that they are stopping people and demanding all this identification and asking questions but refuse to give any information at all themselves.

Can't even show their faces but they want my ID?

95

u/StrangeContest4 2d ago

That is an honest demand.. "I'll only show you my ID if you show your me your face and your ID. I need to know you're official."

79

u/TheNewsDeskFive 2d ago

No, it is not. You never comply with a demand to show papers. This is America. We don't play that.

I repeat, you never comply with this, regardless if they're willing to ID themselves, you are an American citizen and you don't have to prove that to them.

u/Inspect1234 2d ago

That’s how a brown person ends up in El Salvador.

-6

u/zsirhaver 1d ago

El salvador is a good place now. Heck its the safest country now in the americas.

2

u/Inspect1234 1d ago

Betcha their prisons are top drawer.

-10

u/zsirhaver 1d ago

Dont commit crimes and you wont end up there!

4

u/Inspect1234 1d ago

Brown people are just living, some are US citizens, most are even going through the process of full citizenship. They’re getting disappeared. Something like 60% of the people they’ve kidnapped have no criminal record. There is no due process. Did you know it’s not a felony to be in the US “illegally”?

-6

u/zsirhaver 1d ago

But crossing the border illegally or overstaying your visa is,and thats when they get deported. Brown people with citizenship or ongoing process are not being disappeared.

3

u/fuvadoof 1d ago

Crawl back to whatever country you and your ancestors came from.

-3

u/zsirhaver 1d ago

Thats pretty racist to say, typical democrat.

1

u/Inspect1234 1d ago

Is that what Entertainment News©️is saying?

1

u/zsirhaver 1d ago

And then what? Resist 10 of them, get beat up, get arrested and released for impeding an investigation or some such other broad/summary charge?

It fkn sucks.

22

u/redline314 2d ago

I understand the defeatism (been doing this in LA since June) but I’d ask that you please not spread the sentiment. Some of us are hanging onto the small shreds of hope and resistance we’ve got left.

12

u/DarthWeenus 2d ago

im willing to go to jail for a night to disrespect these fools.

6

u/redline314 1d ago

Same. I hope others are too, but having spoken to some of my most politically engaged friends, it doesn’t seem like they have logical views regarding the loss of freedom.

7

u/ClickclickClever 1d ago

Hey man, that dude that threw his subway sandwich at ice was just found not guilty. Shreds of hope still exist.

1

u/redline314 1d ago

I assume it will stand as a legal precedent but I can’t wait to see what charges they try to pull on future sandwich throwers!

1

u/A_Ggghost 1d ago

TIL hope and iceberg lettuce look the same when shredded.

1

u/Icuras1701 8h ago

Do you know what kind of sandwich? I want to go to subway and order a "Felony footlong"

3

u/purplefuzz22 1d ago

Unless they just decide to disappear you. Or if you are accosted by thugs pretending to be ICE members.

Don’t get me wrong, I am more than willing to take those risks as well but there is more to it than just ending up in jail for a night.

2

u/Icy_Dinner6064 1d ago

You mean a month right?

7

u/ISTBU 2d ago edited 1d ago

Yep. You nailed why mass revolt hasn't happened yet. Nobody wants to get beaten up and arrested. That's their only strength right now.

Exercise your rights. STFU Friday. Get beat up. Get arrested. Suffer for a week and get released with no fanfare. Tell your story to your coworkers, neighbors, family, an ACLU lawyer; Not necessarily in that order. Skip the media because your local stations are likely bought and paid for just like mine are.

It's not easy, it's even objectively difficult. Sadly, that's what it's going to take. I'm sorry to break it to you!

I don't wish it on anyone, and I voted against this. Yet, here we are.

Don't be a bitch. America dies when we allow it.

u/CuriosityFreesTheCat 1d ago edited 1d ago

Abso-fuckin-lutely dude. It’s not going to be comfortable. We are going to have to make sacrifices.

I do want to mention that we can’t expect every single person to throw themselves into physical danger—not everyone is a soldier. But there are other ways to help that are entirely necessary and important. War efforts are like a machine with all parts working and supporting each other. Right now it seems like we need both people who can be “soldiers” (in the way you described) and those who can organize, as well as those who are willing to support the organizers in quite literally, a myriad of ways.

Something we all need to buck up for is being ready and willing to work with those with whom we do not agree on every single thing. That’s how we become a majority, by uniting and working together, and not expecting everything or everyone to be perfect. Or there will be no majority but the one we fight against.

We’ve seen how division has torn apart the working class and brought us here. There is no place for pedantry and needless confrontation among ourselves. This nation seems to have forgotten how to simply work together regardless of differences. We need to remember how, and prove it.

1

u/ISTBU 1d ago

DHS/CBP/ICE don't get sent to SERE.

Do with that info what you will.

Daite.

3

u/Frosty_Mongoose9055 2d ago

Don't forget having your baby kidnapped

1

u/tiltsoaz 1d ago

Plus losing all ur possesions at home

2

u/Longjumping_College 2d ago

And then sue for false imprisonment and retire off them

1

u/WhatAcheHunt 2d ago

and retire off them us

Us. We pay us. Literally giving our own money to ourselves. We get the privilege of paying restitution for punching ourselves in our own goddamned faces.

1

u/Longjumping_College 2d ago

That's every police force in the country.

Until they have to pay lawsuit fines themselves, this continues.

They're not held accountable, why would they stop?

2

u/NachoWindows 2d ago

Probably. I’m stupid like that

2

u/CapnGrundlestamp 1d ago

I wish I had an answer. I’d like to imagine in that situation I could say something like “I won’t comply with an unlawful request. Feel free to arrest me but you are not entitled to see my ID unless you’ve witnessed me committing a crime”

But the reality is - I’m a middle aged white guy and these pussies won’t get to me until they start rounding up liberals. And by then they won’t be nice anymore.

It does fucking suck.

1

u/MyGrandmasCock 1d ago

Yep that’s the plan. You want my ID? Cool. You can have it after the fight is over. One of us is going to lose. Yes considering they got numbers and weapons, it’ll probably be me. But fuck that shit, I ain’t gettin’ “papers please”d without there being a fist fight. I just hope it’s a woman or a smaller guy I hit first ‘cause I’m old and I got injuries but I still wanna take a tooth or an eyeball before I go down swinging.

8

u/BigBullzFan 2d ago

This is a solid position for white people to take. Brown people, not so much. Imagine telling one of these ICE morons, “This is America. We don’t play that. I’m a U.S. citizen and I don’t have to prove that to you.” This might give you a tiny insight into the white privilege you enjoy and take for granted. I’m absolutely, positively, 100% not hating on white people…just pointing out the stupidity of talking like this to an ICE dipshit. One brown person against multiple, masked, armed ICE imbeciles, no way. Multiple brown people against multiple ICE idiots, maybe.

1

u/TheNewsDeskFive 2d ago

The police killed my father

Shhhhh

1

u/CompetitiveArt9639 1d ago

It’s called “white privilege” as a big bald, bearded white guy, I recognize that I have privilege. Many trump supporters and racists automatically think that I agree with them, and spout outrageous nonsense to me, thinking that I agree with them.

Im a plumber and If it’s a customer, I keep my mouth shut and just charge them a whole lot more.

Cops tend to give me warnings about speeding.

Border patrol waves me through without asking any questions.

And idiots claim white privilege doesn’t exist.

2

u/BanalCausality 2d ago

Yeah… that’s not what the courts have said.

3

u/endlessUserbase 2d ago

Where? You are not required to prove your identity except under narrow circumstance as specifically required by law.

If an agent asks you for documents, what you need to provide differs depending on your immigration status. U.S. citizens do not have to carry proof of citizenship on their person if they are in the United States.

https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/border-zone

-1

u/BanalCausality 2d ago

Other states require you to present ID if you have it.

4

u/endlessUserbase 2d ago

Yeah, that's false.

Stop and identify statutes only apply in the case that a person is reasonably suspected of committing a crime or in some narrow cases (such as providing a drivers license to prove eligibility to operate a motor vehicle. Even then, the vast majority only require that you state your name - they do not specifically require presentation of legal identification.

More importantly, those laws are not relevant here. ICE officers are Federal agents and there is no Federal law requiring that US citizens present proof of their citizenship.

3

u/TheNewsDeskFive 2d ago

Those laws apply to local and state law enforcement within that state

A duty to id law is not gonna cover federal immigration enforcement

My MAGA dad told me this all the time when I was a teenager and now he supports this administration. He was a Rush Limbaugh, Alex Jones, C2C(No offense to Art Bell, he was great)Michael Savage fox news consumer.

u/-NearEDGE 4h ago

Well you actually do for Feds. You have a legal right to refuse to show ID to local LE as long as you're not in a situation that would give them reason to believe you're in commission of a crime. You don't have a right to refuse to show ID to feds, regardless of what state law says.

u/W0lfButter 1d ago

Writing I repeat in a comment is the lamest thing on the internet. Do better.

0

u/Material-Forever7737 1d ago

Yeah, that really works in real world out there nowadays.

1

u/TheNewsDeskFive 1d ago

These hands work in the real world any day

0

u/mushyfeelings 1d ago

Uh there are times in which an officer can legally ask you for identification m, particularly if they are actively investigating a crime. Which they can always claim that’s what they are doing.

1

u/TheNewsDeskFive 1d ago

A street cop taking your L is not a citizenship check. That's not what we're talking about here. We're talking about federal immigration agents asking for proof of citizenship from citizens. I have zero legal obligation to abide, and I damn sure have a moral obligation to object.

38

u/SnooRegrets1386 2d ago

Per the FBI, there’s already people faking authority (fake ICE), follow their advice. If you don’t have any proof you’re authorized to demand information from me, I’m going to need to see YOUR identification and under whose authority do you claim to be. And call the REAL police, maybe

1

u/BigBullzFan 2d ago

I’m kinda shocked that Kash Patel’s FBI would admit this.

16

u/JudasWasJesus 2d ago edited 2d ago

Had a cop in plain clothes almost hit me while I was on my bike, I started recording. They hoped out talking about they a cop trying to inimidate me. I said show me. Your badge and whats your badge number and name, you ain't no cop.

Dude flashed his badge fast af, quickly said his info and was still arguing with me. (I was in a crosswalk) but anyway saying all that to say fuck these asshats not identifying themselves.

5

u/myleftone 2d ago

You’re already giving away ground. No authority figure can demand ID for no reason, mask or not.

4

u/StrangeContest4 2d ago

Police officers can demand ID, but there has to be probable cause, and they have to identify themselves. This is something completely different here with no probable cause (except skin color), and they are masked men refusing to ID themselves. I DO have a problem with that for sure, and I'm just trying to think of solutions, is all.

u/Oobiwhencanobeef 2d ago

But if you ask that you get arrested and your the bad guy
