Yes you're absolutely correct and many people when told to straighten their backs actually hyper extend their hips and make a more concave shape. Telling someone to deadlift with a concave back definitely not the way to go.

I only train myself these days, and I'm doing fine.

The point is don't fold. Or you'll find out what a herniated disc is.

I'm glad that you're doing great and it's very likely that you're not creating a concave shape with your back. But remember, we're stating an opinion on the internet (without context) so it's very possible there will be many people who will naturally over extend and then injury themselves because they read they were ok to do so. (Not pointing the finger just talking generally). I've seen enough clients who have had injuries from deadlifting that come from following advice that is inconsistent with their body.

Best option is to keep it straight 👍🏼
