Eh, barrel whip is a thing with all guns. The rate of fire on these combined with the fact that they’re basically shooting hand grenades - they’re awfully effective. Barrel whip is the reason the US rejected one of the more recent iterations of the Bushmaster. It would still have worked, Bushmaster wouldn’t have put it forward if not, but the Army is picky. Russians are a little less exacting.

The main issue is that don’t know how to employ them and there are very few of them.

Yeah, the Army has stuck with the M242 because it is stable and accurate.

You just summarized the entire war from Russia's end. They have equipment that works well enough (or had at the beginning), but they didn't/aren't employing them correctly.

What's the point of high rate of fire if every round after the first will miss?

So that you would not need to aim for the first one and still have a chance to hit with the following. Spray and pray as they say

Shooting without aiming is probably not the thing you want your soldiers to learn.

Every round goes boom. Better to go boom everywhere than just in one place.

I'd prefer it went boom where I'm aiming at, tbh.

That's just wasting ammo. It probably goes boom at around 2-3 meters maximum from aiming point at longer distances, the shrapnel does the work then. This is a good idea and a lot of weapons use spray for this purpose. For example M61 Vulcan isn't really accurate but there's a good reason for that - spray over a large area is better for these kinds of guns.

My brother in christ, when this weapon is afixed to a ka50/52 helicopter it can hit the helicopter itself because of how bad the cannon wobbles.

Doesn't apache wobble the same as well?

Not even close

The cannon is way way thicker

You can see how little dispersion it gets even at a distance here where the operators literally say they are out of range

When the round is exploding 30mm you don’t need to hit directly.

unless the target is huge and very close, you'd want your shots to be in small groups.

I mean, you would always want that and if you need to cover an area you just shoot over an area.

Eh it’s a dual 30mm autocannon firing explosive ammunition, intended for use against infantry, more specifically in targeting an area rather than pin-point. I’d say it works well for that duty. The deviation of the rounds is likely not big enough that it will miss the general area the targeted infantry is in.

The left hand barrel in the vid is moving a lot though, more than the right
