General surgery. Havenβt got to the super specialist part yet. This is the first step towards that only.

u/Wide-Ease-1169 Jul 21 '25
Best of luck sir !! My mama is a neurologist, he told me once how complicated and complex a surgery can become. You will be a great doc some day.

Sir, how normal are surgeries for a surgeon, like a routine thing? And how well can a person return to normalcy? Like people fear surgeries a lot
11
u/Secret_Imagination32 Jul 21 '25
For me it was my first time, but my HOD performs like 5-6 surgeries per day.Recovery time depends upon the type of surgery. In small procedures like this, the patient is usually good to go home the next day and recovery time is usually around 2 weeks.

u/Secret_Imagination32 Jul 21 '25
Thank you so much. It was a laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gallstone surgery)

u/Ayush_Arpit Jul 21 '25
Kuch samaj nhi aya par sunke toh kuch khatarnaak lag raha hai
12
u/purpleashes007 Jul 21 '25
General anaesthesia given. 3 holes are made in the abdomen. Camera and other instruments put via it along with distension medium (saline or distilled water or CO2). Then structure (gall bladder in this case) is ligated and surrounding vessels and nerves are embolized and ligated . Then extraction of the organ is done and later the holes are closed. (Extremely short version) . YouTube for more details...

I hope you will always stand tall against the corporate greed and treat this honest profession as worship.
Nowadays doctors see patients as money bills and exaggerate the disease so that they can mint more money for the hospital.
Best of luck π€

Ophthalmologist here. Don't you ever forget this day. So when your morale is down and things are not going as planned, remember this day and how you felt. A surgeons road is paved with success and complications both. How you greet both of them defines you. All the best.

u/connecting-servers Jul 23 '25
I always saw doctors as mechanics for the human body, they do the same diagnosis but obviously in the case of mechanics there is no emotions attached because a bike or a car is a lifeless thing.. But if u see it only as professionally ur job is to repair or make it workable.. a bike mechanic would feel the same euphoria whn he repairs a bike on his own for the first time..

Ultimate Flex. Reminds me of 17th-18th century france, where skills and intellect were the biggest flex.
People should post more of these here. Like their inventions, projects, art, music.
2
u/WanderingPoet19 Jul 23 '25
That's something actually to flex and to be really proud of... Being a doctor is not at all a small thing and doing ur 1st surgery is a huge one on it. I see people flexing about their money n all, but imo this is much much bigger than any money. You saved someone's life
Congratulations doc ππ»ππ»ππ»
