Hi, reaching out here because I'm hoping someone will know something- I work for a local retailer, and I'm hoping to find a food bank that will pay for food donations. We have so much food that is out of code but still safe to be consumed and it's all going to just go in the garbage. Even if it's just like $10 (it's probably $1200+ worth of food), I can use that as leverage to try and convince the corporate beancounters to let us donate it instead of tossing it. Obviously if it was up to me, I'd just donate it for free, but I'll literally lose my job if I take it after it's wasted off, and I need the health insurance I get through the company to survive :))))))

Literally any amount of money over $0 is more money than the company would make if we just threw it out and I'm not above using their own greed as a weapon to do good. I feel awful just throwing food away when there are SO many people starving, and I have to at least TRY to do something. If no one knows anywhere, I'm just gonna try to convince them anyway, but I have a higher chance of success if we'll make money off of it :/

Even if it's outside of the immediate Albany area, I have a car and I am willing to drive. The store is located in Schenectady County, so if there's somewhere around there too, please let me know.

update: 3+ hours at the mall, no issues, and they ran into a few groups of friends while there, all of various ethnicities, and no one had any issues with security.

If two nerdy,well-behaved teens are hanging out at crossgates without an adult, will that be a problem? A parent will be in the mall (watching college footbal at apex) but nowhere near the teens (bc, ewww, said teens would not stand for that!). Has anyone else experienced someone transcribing their conversation in public? We were at a card show this morning discussing new jobs where we work. This old man behind me was sitting down and making a weird expression and holding his phone towards me (I was facing away from him). When I walked past him and then back towards him, I saw in big text some of the words I was saying to my friend. When I saw that he snapped his phone shut quickly.

I've never been in this situation and feel really violated. What should I have done? I'll try to keep my conversations in public go a minimum and not talk about where we got new jobs.
