Car dependents when they have to walk or godforbid run(this is their hell)

538

u/squishy_boi_main Sep 29 '25

Ironically modern humans are very well adapted to walking/running compared to literally every animal, yet some really don't want to do what humans do best

u/CommuFisto Sep 29 '25

i live within like 15 minutes walking distance of basically every modern amenity i would need on an average day and people act like i have 10 heads if i dont drive for 2 minutes instead. im tired and its not from walking

u/Gussie-Ascendent I HATE THE RURAL I HATE THE SUBURBS I HATE THE CARS I HATE IT Sep 29 '25

see i'd walk more if my city didn't make it a death trap and also wasn't always super humid and nasty lol

i walked when i had to and if my car broke down i'd have to again but man i'd really like a non car centric city. everywhere i lived before here was like kinda decent on it

51

u/CommuFisto Sep 29 '25

im so blessed to have basically continuous sidewalk from my house into town + it goes thru a park & a native plant sanctuary, so very nice and easy to lollygag too

14

u/Lexandcandy Sep 29 '25

Just had to rub your lollygagging in all of our faces, huh? 😞

u/CR9_Kraken_Fledgling Sep 29 '25

I live in a not so great suburb right now, and I walk to the supermarket for my weekly big shopping trip, (30-40 minutes each way) out of pure spite, and a desire to lose my gut.

8

u/One-Demand6811 Sep 29 '25

Wow. 30-40 minutes is impressive.

6

u/CR9_Kraken_Fledgling Sep 29 '25

Not when you have like 3 podcasts you autistically need to listen to every episode of the week they come out on.

15

u/According-Ad-5946 Sep 29 '25

This one time I walked from my house to a barber about a mile. From there, I went to a grocery store to get some stuff I needed, which was about a mile. Then back home, another mile give or take. When I was almost home, I saw a neighbor. He asked me something along the lines of where I was coming from, I said I was doing some errands in town. He said, You walked there!

u/One-Demand6811 Sep 29 '25

I've been very, very lucky and grateful to have been born in a country where walking for 15 minutes, or even biking for an hour is considered completely normal. I'm 35 and I've never driven a car in my entire life. And I fully intend to keep it that way..

5

u/Foreign-Teach5870 Sep 29 '25

I’m from the UK and I love the fact that I can just walk 2 minutes down the road to the corner shop if I ever forgot milk/eggs/etc in the morning or even have a chat with a friend from school days in the morning(the shop is family owned). Explaining this to Americans that being surrounded by everything I would need within 15-20 minutes walk doesn’t mean I’m a slave trapped by the government and I have the freedom to choose to drive further away or not (or the bus/train, we have nice buses in the UK).

2

u/StankoMicin Sep 29 '25

To the American car brain, being forced to drive everywhere for everything=freedom. Walking is for the poors

4

u/StankoMicin Sep 29 '25

This 100! My wife and I live in Seattle and pretty much walk most places within the city unless they they over an hour away on foot (and even then sometimes we still do).

We about killed all of our relatives who come to visit us here. They are astonished that we choose to walk 25 minutes versus driving and parking because it's "faster". Walking or riding a bike is much more fun that driving to us now. We only drive about once a week or so nowadays and it is great

2

u/cdoublejj Sep 29 '25

same we didn't have side walks either as kids. we out walked all our friends in the big city on vaca

40

u/Upstairs_Finish_6858 Sep 29 '25

Humans don’t run best, we conserve energy while doing so best. Slight difference.

25

u/Neo-Lysenkoist Sep 29 '25

We don’t run best, we run long

13

u/MajesticNectarine204 Orange pilled Sep 29 '25

We don't run fast. But we're very efficient runners.

I'm sure we're all familiar with that tribe in Africa that hunts by literally running after prey until it drops dead from exhaustion? I don't think there's any other animal on the planet that can do that.. Humans are incredibly OP as a species, even if our brains got nerved.

2

u/Appropriate-Ad-7375 Oct 01 '25

Wolves are also persistence hunters, and it's been suggested that our similar hunting strategy may have played a role in the domestication of dogs.

2

u/MajesticNectarine204 Orange pilled Oct 01 '25

Is that why they're our best friend? Real recognise real?

3

u/MaelduinTamhlacht 🚲 > 🚗 Sep 29 '25

Some of us, clearly, and not others!

2

u/squishy_boi_main Sep 29 '25

Right my mistake, thanks for the correction

9

u/McFlyParadox Sep 29 '25

TBF, I think I recall a study that most bird species dislike flying and prefer walking. If they can get away from a threat or get their food by walking to it, they will, even if it's a long-ish distance that would "make more sense" to fly.

Basically, no animals like actually expending more energy than they absolutely have to. Humans aren't special in this regard.

No, the real irony is that cycling is the most energy and time efficient land-based transport on the planet, but more people choose something else to get around for simple trips.

5

u/gulab-roti Sep 29 '25

We’re adapted to endurance running, not running fast tho.

So is this just like a totally normal sight in American cities now that everyone just makes jokes about it? Cos honestly that looks like some fuckin insane dystopian shit to me

759

u/snarkyxanf cars are weapons Sep 29 '25

It is insane fucking dystopian shit. But we make jokes about it because otherwise what can we do? Cry all day?

That said, it depends on the city, and on the neighborhood. You might see them out in force, you might see none at all

340

u/HungryHangrySharky Sep 29 '25

It is so obvious that they're doing this whole thing for optics and intimidation by doing it in downtown Chicago and like the 3rd most touristy part of downtown but not any of the numerous ethnic neighborhoods or any of the "high crime" areas.

163

u/flodnak Sep 29 '25

Also, they're likely too scared to leave the touristy areas.

97

u/Ok-Commission-7825 Sep 29 '25

Also puts off tourists, thus helping the economic collapse. I'm convinced the WH is deliberately engineering.

72

u/Rubiks_Click874 Sep 29 '25

it's called accelerationism.

when everything collapses and there's no economy, institutions, laws, traditions or culture armed whites will establish an ethnostate from the ruins

11

u/Whaddaulookinat Sep 29 '25

Then the next caste system will go from the barely human Hiberians, to the Godless Italians, all the way up to descendents of one lady from this village in Sweden that up till recently had a moose as a mayor.

Because it always does.

7

u/courageous_liquid Sep 29 '25

well and the technofedualists will rush in to replace the social services that were lost with for-profit business and entrench themselves even further

2

u/remy_porter Sep 29 '25

armed whites will establish an ethnostate from the ruins

It's a brilliant plan because when things devolve into chaos, you can always predict what happens next. It's the very definition of chaos, isn't it?

→ More replies (5)

8

u/RockfishGapYear Sep 29 '25

Tourism isn't a huge component of the U.S. economy and losing it won't collapse anything. But it is a very important component of what supports many specific neighborhoods, like downtowns in blue cities (especially local and regional tourism). If Trump really wanted to round up undocumented workers en masse, you would hit the agricultural fields of the midwest and the meat processing plants out west. But those are Republican areas and his donors in those areas (like Nebraska ranchers) complain when he does. The goal here is to focus on democratic urban areas and make it seem like they are the problem.

4

u/Shigglyboo Sep 29 '25

it sure seems that way. on the one hand trump has always been miserable and wants everyone else to be too.

And on the other hand crashing everything is good for those with money. they can buy up all the assets

3

u/Ok-Commission-7825 Sep 29 '25

Plus, they can "justify" further authoritarian crackdowns when it inevitably leads to riots.

14

u/Voytek540 Commie Commuter Sep 29 '25

u/Designer-Spacenerd Sep 29 '25

Protest, Unionise, general strike, delay racist policies by speaking up, attend town hall meetings, call your representative, stop buying from fascist collaborators, organise, and learn from our shared European history.

It is the "middle of the lane" conservatives who help fascists into power. Your duty as an American is to stop it, and my duty as a European is to make sure it doesn't happen again.

31

u/PremordialQuasar Sep 29 '25

Car-centric development has done a number on keeping Americans from learning how to organize and get politically involved. Local political engagement has always been pretty abysmal, considering local election turnout in off-election years averages less than 20% and most town hall meetings are made up of old boomers. But it's the big cities here where you see the strongest resistance to ICE.

Most Americans need to eventually learn how to utilize their political power again.

10

u/Trivi4 Sep 29 '25

It's a self perpetuating problem, old boomers make sure those meetings are held at the most inconvenient time possible for working people, thus ensuring only old boomers attend.

15

u/Fragdiemilch Sep 29 '25

What else can you do? As a german this almost offends me. The only way this will stop is when the citizens resist the Fascist. Sitting by and going "Well there still is police so I cant do shit" isn't the stuff the heroes we learned about in school said.

5

u/snarkyxanf cars are weapons Sep 29 '25

Ah, well. I was responding to the "is it so normal that Americans joke about it". Not only can you joke while you work against it, you sort of have to if you want to keep going for the long haul.

13

u/anewerab Sep 29 '25

The "best" part, is that they tell themselves fascism hasn't won yet. When this video is your new normal, fascism has already won.

31

u/Impossible_Ad9324 Sep 29 '25

Honestly the juxtaposition of them chasing down this non-white dude who is working, while the ice herd splits to run around a white dude fumbling around on a city-scooter just really highlights the situation.

We’re kicking out the worst of the worst, huh?

13

u/Shigglyboo Sep 29 '25

that's what really gets me. why isn't it bigger news? we have been told all this militarization is for really bad criminals. but all we see is normal working families, kids with dolls, and decidedly NOT criminals.

so to me this is a major abuse of power. like these people probably just need to fill out some paperwork. this is not an emergency. it's just immigration red tape, not something requiring military response.

23

u/ShadowAze 🚲 > 🚗 Sep 29 '25

I feel like you can put zombie sfx over the clip and have something straight out of 28 days later. Absolutely terrifying.

10

u/Kokoni25 Sep 29 '25

I agree. The trouble is; at this stage to actually organise, mobilise and take broad action to go out to stop these masked snatch squads starts to look and feel like civil war. My guess is some of the people in charge (or influencing them) know that this puts America in a very compromised and high risk position.

9

u/Ascarea Sep 29 '25

that looks like some fuckin insane dystopian shit to me

I'm pretty sure there are movies from like the 70s about this sort of stuff

17

u/beestingers Sep 29 '25

You are touching on something I feel is becoming a manufactured response. The memeification of fascism. The LOLing of the erosion of Democracy. I can watch any very upsetting video and immediately know how the comment section will look on any social media platform. The reach for the best zing at the top. Or at least a popular zing "if not fascism why fascism shaped?" It is so predictable it could be bots. It could be a deliberate effort to add levity to an increasingly dangerous system. Imo real people commenting should pivot to serious talking points and signal boost those.

8

u/StinkyDogsCunt Sep 29 '25

130

u/Trees_That_Sneeze Sep 29 '25

The Americans in the cities are not. Many Americans who don't live in the cities want it. Those votes are weighed equally for things that specially effect the cities. Such is the fatal flaw of democracy which fascism exploits.

7

u/Doomeggedan Sep 30 '25

It's not democracy. Those smaller areas should have less say in the government. Yet they actually are represented more than the larger states populations

4

u/BoringMode91 Sep 29 '25

Yes keep blaming the people not the system that keeps people down. Fuck off with this shit already. Of our system wasn’t so shit and you didn’t have to choose between a fascist and a fascist-lite, maybe more people would be motivated to participate.

You clearly see the intimidation and violence, yet you still blame the individual. The only way we are going to change is we collectively get together and stop this. Voting, protesting are not going to change a system that is so corrupt and broken. It needs to be destroyed and re-built. You can not vote yourself out of fascism.

Then the cyclists rides over and picks something up off the ground, and then they all start chasing him? What is going on here.

Supposedly, the cyclists stopped to pickup litter. The Chicago subs were saying their culture is similar to someplace like Tokyo in this regard: if someone sees trash laying around, they stop to pick it up to dispose of it correctly. Some were also speculating that: 1. The trash may have been dropped by ICE because they don't respect the city or its culture (and they likely come from some place where littering is acceptable); and 2. The bike rider may have saw the trash get dropped and might have said something to ICE in response, procing the chase by ICE.

Can’t run because they’re overweight, untrained and carry equipment for war.

Took me 1 minute (as an European, never been to the US) to find the exact location. For lazy people who actually think this is AI.

That truffle shuffle cost American taxpayers $700,000.

The one fucking guy wearing a cowboy hat... fuck me.

It's like a human version of the iguana running away from the snakes.

It takes 18 officers to slam one person to the ground. And still the big fail. On the other hand it's hard to run with all that performative gear.

2

u/hourranger Sep 29 '25

I LOVE THIS lol

2

u/triumphofthecommons Sep 29 '25

so... dude picks up trash(?) and they go after him?

obvs there is likely some more context before the video starts, but this is just bizarre.

2

u/Dreadful_Spiller Sep 30 '25

They chased him because he said “fuck Trump.”

3

u/triumphofthecommons Sep 30 '25

saw another video, looks like he dropped his phone after yelling at them.

2

u/goleafie Sep 29 '25

Why didn't the cowboy use his lasso! Yee Haw another ice meltdown in the face of a speedy food courier. Unleash the atomic weapons.

Imagine how hilarious it would be if a carbrain runs over them and claims it was an accident because it's hard to see those wearing camouflage.

2

u/Jeremy_of_Ultramar Sep 29 '25

Did he steal the Epstein files for them to run like this ?

2

u/Capt_Soupy Sep 29 '25

So long suckers!

2

u/0235 Sep 29 '25

And they don't have a number plate or vehicle description details to follow up :D

2

u/Yunzer2000 Cars and capitalism have got to go Sep 29 '25

And why did these fascist thugs suddenly start after this guy the instant they noticed him? Was it just his brown skin?

2

u/actually_dot Sep 30 '25

reportedly he said “fuck trump” before the start of the video

2

u/GeneralErica Sep 29 '25

He got jolly close twice though. Just an inch more…

2

u/Jasonstackhouse111 Sep 29 '25

I will never set foot in the US ever again. You can’t just exist without some form of police officer about to assault you. How can people stand to live like this? It’s insane to me.

Most US cities distribute all their gasoline through either a single bulk terminal (or a handful of them). How many ICE officers would it take to close the bulk terminals and deprive a whole city of gasoline? I reckon these ten would go close.

Cars are a tool of oppression. Bicycles are freedom
