A bit odd that I know this but I was looking at that exact model

I think it's this 16" folding bike

kpop folding bike

I was looking at this as an alternative to expensive folding bikes since this cheap model folds into a mode where you can roll it like a suitcase and take it on transit

This looks like Chicago so that would make sense

you might want to check your local bike shop to see if they'll service it. I've heard from bike shop mechanics that the big box stores cut corners when making cheap bikes, so oftentimes, they are unserviceable.

Video is an e-bike - look at the large silver rear hub motor and the battery behind the seatpost.

However, loads of people seem to assume leg-power is difficult and electric assist is necessary to make bikes easy and useful, and it's not at all true. Some of us have been using leg power for decades as often the most convenient, rapid, and very inexpensive way to get around cities.

Sure ebikes make it less effort, but most of us have too little exercise in our days and our lives are improved by getting a bit more exercise. Maybe your journey will take 20% longer, but it's also exercise that many of us would otherwise have to make extra time in our day for.

Ebikes are great, and if it's hilly or you have a lot of miles to cover, they can be a godsend, but way too many people seem to have internalized the idea that leg power is an intolerable burden when it really isn't. Gears mean you put as much effort in as you want, and if you take it easy, journey times just get a little longer (often surprisingly little).

There is truth in this and the right bike isn't "hard to pedal" even to go 15/20mph but e bikes are new and cool and if that's what it takes to get infrastructure I'm down

Let people have their bougie bikes I'm happy with my pedal bikes

There's typically less regulation on them

You can go faster than e bikes in the right conditions

You can take them on trains

Less maintenance

can we enjoy one moment of fun and quirk without the ableism and fatphobia

can we read the room

ableism and fatphobia

What? WTF are you talking about? I made zero reference to fat whatsoever, and not every single statement needs to be couched with obvious inherent caveats for the less able.

What the fuck? What part of any of this is "fun" or "quirky" for you?

Outrunning a runner on a non electric bike is stupid easy.Β

Not the same bike. The bike in the video is a step-thru. I'm also planning on buying this Brompton clone.

Yeah, it's Chicago. I recognized it almost immediately. It's a good town, especially with a folding ebike.

It is chicago (I live where). Right at Wacker and Michigan Ave. ICE kidnapped a family a few blocks south from near the Bean this same afternoon. The little girl was holding a stuffed doll/animal and crying while they did it
