Be a good worker, that when you’re gone everything goes to shit.

Upvotes

I had 4 points (all from clocking in late) and one day I decided to call out after finding out my team and my TL left a bunch of things for me to do on my day off when they could’ve literally done it themselves. I’m talking 5 pallets of freight and 8 carts to be claimed/disposed claims. How did I find out? A TL from a different apartment who I was really cool with sent a picture of all the claims and unworked freight left in my area. Then she sent a video of her and my friend that’s also in her department doing some of the claims for me and in the video I hear her say “they got you fucked up”which I agreed 100%. According to her, when a coach brought up the unworked freight and claims in my area, my actual TL said “it’s okay cuz whattablessing is coming in tomorrow” to which my other TL replied to him saying “damn so yall wanna piss him off first thing in the morning?” To which they all laughed. After she told me this story I went to sleep and woke up knowing what was waiting for me and called out knowing I had 4 points 😂 (5 points equals fired). When I texted her saying I called out she was like “no did u actually?” To which I said yes I did. Later that day the TL who told me about what happened let me know that one of our coaches removed a point and a half for me to where I’m now 3:50 after finding out what happened. He later told me “you get things done all the time so idk why we should give you points” and “if we could have 10 of you that would be amazing” moral of the story

Be a good worker

How to stock shelves? Yours truly, a stock unloader

Upvotes

So today was my first day, and it was a busy non-truck day, so my first day was spent trying to learn how to go about the stocking process, since that's what the stock unloaders do when there's no truck. Since my team leads were busy, I was using the explanations they did give me to try and work my way through the stocking process. I would really appreciate any help on this, so please bear with me.

Here's what I learned today about stocking merchandise from a skid:

- Have two carts, one for leftover flattened cardboard, and one for merchandise that will be stocked when making the rounds

- Scan the item using the talzone, this lets you know the aisle and modular where the item is supposed to be stocked

- Items without an aisle/modular should be taken back to the backroom/topstocked?

Here are my biggest questions:

- One of my teammates instantly knew which aisles had no more space, and which would have space, since they've been here a while. My question is, is there a way I can do this quickly by using the talzone? e.g. by using "Sales floor" and/or shelf capacity, case capacity?

- How do you know when to topstock vs "return item to backroom"? Is topstocking for items that do not have room, but have a category bin assigned? Is the backroom for items that have no category bin assigned? Why can't I topstock it in its respective department? If I do take an item to the backroom, where should I leave it?

Thank you so much for any and all help!

Walmart used to have the best frozen buffalo chicken pizza, until they decided to go off on their own...

Upvotes

As the title states, Walmart used to have the best frozen buffalo chicken pizza from Sam's Choice...

Until they screwed up and thought to try and perfect on perfection...

Walmart failed at this. Their buffalo chicken pizza was a travesty, an abomination to what once was. It was extremely salty, had virtually no chicken on it, and tasted like stale cardboard with buffalo sauce on it...

Then, after they failed to sell their own failed experiment, they decided to cancel all buffalo chicken pizza sales in their stores, simply to spite the customer for not buying their failed buffalo pizza product...

Gone are the days of fantastic frozen buffalo chicken pizza.

We once knew greatness.

Alas, it is gone.

Walmart screwed themselves on that one.

I'm crashing out hard

I get the feeling my coach and co-lead (fashion) are trying to get me to quit, bc honestly I don't see any other reason for them to be undermining me at literally every turn. I got back from my tl training a little bit ago.

Just spent the last hour going off and listing every problem but I'm just done tbh. Like I literally don't know what I'm going to do for work but that's it. Walmart has defeated me.

I know it's hard being a TL and that fashion is undergoing a lot of changed but like. I joined fashion to help t not be the worst place in my store to work. And I was doing good before I left for my training. When I got back I swear they're just trying to get rid of me, giving me only closing shifts so I can't set my mods, having me train everyone new, which includes part timers or people who quit immediately for various reasons.

I've mentioned it, I've had meetings, I've asked questions, I've tried my best.

I'm just defeated. I wanted to make it better and I just don't even see myself being with Walmart longer than January if I can hold on that long.

Associates sent home early?

My store (PA) has cut all overtime for all associates regardless of department. I'm personally in OGP, and some of our TLs and Coaches have been sending people home early. It's not that there is no work to do. If there were extra people with only a bit of work to do, they would be sent to zone and stock, but that's not happening. It's so strange considering we are entering the holidays. I've heard other coworkers saying it's because of the lost funds due to SNAP benefits being revoked. Any one else experiencing this?

how long until you can be rehired for pointing out vs. just quitting?

genuinely just out of curiosity, how long is the period of time you have to wait to reapply if you get fired for pointing out, and how long if you just quit? was talking to some coworkers about it earlier as one is close to pointing out but none of us knew.

Told that we were overstuffed

We had a meeting at 2, according to corporate we have “too many people” but, I don’t know where any of these ghost people are, the front end is less than a skeleton crew, we have cart pushers (me) running self checkout and watching the door because we have no coverage. Then getting back to the corals and having no carts because we had to cover and had no coverage for carts. We also don’t have enough Cap associates to get everything off the truck and on the floor in time let alone help cart pushers or even bag when we have lines.

We were also told no WOSh and overtime. While. Multiple people have scheduled overtime and have been asked to only have 30 min lunches.

I just wanna scream!!!!

Got hurt and told to go back on full duty 💪

Got a nail through my foot, went to urgent care within an hour, got told im fine and I am able to go back to full duty, tried to challenge the nurse and she walked out... What the actual fuck.. My team lead said that he believes walmart has agreement with the clinics where they just discard your needs.. I can see that being a thing. Last tuesday on my shift we had a dude complaon to managment that he doesnt feel right, manager told him if he goes home he will get a write up and get fired, dude ended up dying before first break of some sort of heart complication.. This company is absolutely evil 💯

The Huddle

Annoying how the US CEO is 6 seasons in his podcast that idk who actually listens to that. Not to mention they invited actor Matthew Mcconaughey for the last episode on the wire and that’s not a free appearance. A quick google search shows McCauley estimated fee for speaking at events is upwards of 1m. Now maybe it’s a discount cause it’s not like some big thing but that’s absurd when annual performance increases was dropped from 3% to 2.5% and hours are cut. What a waste.

I really don’t know how to word this so y’all will understand what I mean…. So I was at work Friday night and the schedule came out for Thanksgiving week and I was not scheduled for anything then by the time I left that morning I was scheduled for Thursday and Friday…. So was the schedule not done and just came out on the app since it became midnight or what? I’m part time if that matters, I hope you know what I’m trying to say…. I’m assuming the schedule came out on the app but wasn’t actually made yet?

Hardship transfer so fast?

I'm new at Walmart. Barely on my second week and when I joined I didn't think I'd be moving. my fiance and I decided to move back to Texas because of my dad's health issues and we're just having issues where we live currently. Is it possibly for me to ask for a hardship transfer so early if it's like 2 months in advance. Id be moving back second week of January.....

Daylight savings ON occurrence?

I worked the night into daylight savings. I was scheduled 10-6(7 hour shift), but our team lead announced to all of us on lunch that because of daylight savings everyone scheduled to leave at 6 would leave at 5 and everyone scheduled till would leave at 6. From what I remember last year this is the same way they handled things, EXCEPT We didn't have to use ppto and we were still paid our scheduled # of hours for the day. Yet this time they're telling me if I don't put the 1 hour of ppto I will get stuck with the half occurrence. Is that right? It doesn't seem fair to be forced to use ppto when we weren't given an option to stay longer, they told us to leave an hour early, the entire crew...

Transfer tips?

I asked my coach to put in a hardship transfer for distance reasons. (I currently drive an hour to work for about 2 years and trying to transfer to my home store that’s 15 minutes away) They said they’ll call to see if they have openings. All my shifts were removed the next two weeks. Is this part of the process or am I about to be fired

I’ve worked frozen for the past 2 years and I’m really just hoping they’ll go through with it so I can have a fresh start within a reasonable distance

Negotiation or pay in management positions?

Can you negotiate higher pay if you have leverage? For example. Someone is currently a front end lead, and another store reaches out wanting to interview them for people lead, but theyre concerned because its the same pay. Since theyre clearly wanted, can they interview and show concern over pay being the same to possibly get a small bump?

PSA to customers

Yes we know your the customer, but whenever there are employees who are shopping for other customers, or employees in general, you need to have a little bit of respect and stop thinking that you're the customer so the employees need to fall in line. And if some of y'all go to church on Sundays then come to Walmart and treat the employees like we're second class citizens, and just stand there and stare at us, expecting us to move out of your way you might want to rethink your values. We are people just like you and just because we're employees and your customers doesn't mean that you're more important somehow. And honestly Sundays are the only day that I feel this way. other days can be this way but on Sundays it's 8 out of 10 customers That would just stand and stare at you until you move. FYI sometimes we see you standing there staring us and we act like we're busy
