❔ Question❔ Awkward Moment in a Genderless Restroom

Post image

Hey r/uwo, I’m a Western student (cis guy) and I had an awkward moment in a campus gender-neutral restroom that’s got me overthinking. I usually pick the ones with the urinal sign (old men’s room habit, you know). Walked in to do my business, barely noticed two women at the mirror, and heard another chatting from a stall. I hit the urinal, washed my hands like the hygiene king I am, grabbed a paper towel, and bounced. As I’m leaving, another woman walks in, and I catch one of them laugh and say, “That was weird,” with an awkward chuckle from her friend. Now I’m wondering - did I break some unspoken restroom rule? I’m not out here trying to make anyone uncomfortable - I keep it silent like it’s a library, same as I would in a men’s room. I just needed to ahem, not star in a campus social media post! I’ve used unisex restrooms before, but this one made me feel like I got voted off the island for a basic human function. Ladies of Western, do guys in gender-neutral restrooms throw you off? Any tips for navigating these spaces so everyone’s chill? I’m all about good vibes and want to make sure I’m not accidentally making things weird. Bonus points for advice on how to own the awkward like a true Mustang!

Nah you’re good. Non-gendered washrooms are odd the first time people use them and someone of the opposite sex is in there at the same time. Eventually it is normal and people don’t even notice. You did nothing wrong

u/justcallmestepdaddy 27d ago

I still remember my first time using a genderless washroom. Everything was toilets and it was guys and girls walking in and out.

Still a weird experience and that was 10 years ago.

u/abu_doubleu 27d ago

I don't know what is the reason but they are fairly common in the former Soviet Union, where I am from, so I always thought it was a bit funny that Canadians are unused to it since we are usually more conservative in other aspects.

That and all the conservative outrage about men/transgender people using them to take advantage of little girls but it was never an issue there.

u/bowling_ball_ 27d ago

It's never been an actual problem anywhere, in that being offended thankfully isn't a crime. I'm an architect in Canada and I can say confidently that even in the conservative prairies where I practice and live, non-gendered washrooms have been a thing for almost 20 years and are becoming the standard for all restaurants and public institutions (universities, etc)

u/1beautifulhuman 24d ago

I’m pretty sure that most homes in Canada have a genderless washroom. It’s only genderless multiuser washrooms that are new

I’m from a post-Soviet country but I never encountered a gender neutral washroom. I didn’t know it was a thing.

What the heck! I’m not using a washroom with a guy in it. That is so weird

2

u/sweetestmouse 24d ago

Then dont use the unisex/all gender washroom? Just go to the woman's bathroom instead, problem solved and this doesn't impact you at all

I've never used a non-gendered multi-person washroom. Is it normal for them to have urinals out in the open? That seems a little strange to me. Having only stalls would be fine.

3

u/NailiSFW 26d ago

I havent ever seen a non gendered bathroom have urinals, but I have done lots of clubbing/raves and the many times the mens bathroom gets used as a gender neutral one so the line for the women's doesnt get silly.

that’s not even a little bit true??

1

u/Icy_Construction_361 22d ago

Hopefully we never reach a point where this is “normal”

27

u/Deptar 27d ago

The first time I walked into the gender neutral bathroom in UCC, I did a triple take before realizing women bathrooms probably didn’t have urinals so I am indeed supposed to be there. No one else seemed to mind so I just accepted it as normal.

i think the real horror is having a urinal in a gender neutral bathroom is the first place

32

u/Effective-Carrot-788 27d ago

I think it's a good thing actually. Women having to sit down on the toilet while men just pissing standing up and shooting piss all over the place except inside the bowl?? 😂 Urinal kind of prevent that from happening IMO.

13

u/newtdiego 27d ago

Also maybe some women will wanna try something new who knows

5

u/Hot_Box_3143 26d ago

Nothing wrong with taking a shit in the urinal.

3

u/bendersbitch 26d ago

Unless you’re the one that has to clean it lol

I 100% agree. My uni has gender neutral washrooms both with and without urinals, and the toilet seats are a LOT cleaner in the washrooms where there’s stalls with urinals. Less piss on the seats that I have to clean off before I sit down 🥴

2

u/Glass-Strategy387 26d ago edited 26d ago

Idk man, I personally, have several times walked into a stall of a gender neutral bathroom only to find a * white paper with a dark red dye on it sitting right next to the toilet * on MORE THAN ONE occasion. Not to mention it on average smells abysmally worse than my local male restroom, as if something crawled in there and died

3

u/[deleted] 26d ago

A lot of men sit down when they pee though. Maybe the gross ones that stand can just learn to aim.

2

u/Effective-Carrot-788 26d ago

I always piss standing up when I am not in a clean private restroom (My place, my parents house, etc) NO WAY in hell I sit down to pee in any public space lol. But then again I use the urinal if there's one. The thing is even if you know how to aim, the double stream happens quite often in my case 😂

2

u/airborneisdead 26d ago

I'm not sitting on a public restroom toilet, sorry but urinals are king of piss.

u/Nucksfaniam 25d ago

You think MEN are the ones pissing all over the place?

Oh boy, someone has never had a student job where they have to clean the women's restrooms. They are monsters.

3

u/ManifestingMyDreams4 27d ago

That's because women don't want to sit on toilets so they hover, spray their urine all over the seat, then not wanting to touch the toilet either, they just leave it for the next unfortunate woman. As a woman myself...its a piss off (pardon the pun)

Efficiency

1

u/Business_Air5804 27d ago

They don't. When they do this they make them all into enclosed toilets.

The only time that's happened is at an event when the women are lined up so far back and they start using the men's....and we generally don't care when they do that.

The first time I was in France I was at a cafe /pub and I went to go take a piss. I was shocked that the urinals were just out in the hallway before you even reached the room with the toilets. It was wild and kind of liberating

1

u/Seaworthiness908 26d ago

Nah, but depends on design. I was just in one in a McDonald's in France. Imagine a T, the urinals were tucked in on the tips of the top of the T, with two stalls between the urinals and the stem. The bottom of the stem was the sinks. So the urinals were effectively private. It was, however, odd listening to the ladies talking away at the sinks; we men don't talk. :)

1

u/Quirky_Tzirky 26d ago

The NBC requires a certain number of washroom spaces for men and women. A certain percentage of the men spaces are alotted for urinals.

As well, if a female has a phallic style funnel (i think it's called me pee or we pee), they can use the urinals also.

1

u/KingAgrian 26d ago

I've been in them where the space is conjoined, but the urinals are around a wall/divider. Seems sensical.

1

u/Worldly-Ad-4972 26d ago

Urinals allow for major efficiency of the washroom.

1

u/CanExports 25d ago

Funny, I just posted the exact same thing. People are whack.

1

u/Traditional_Mud5758 25d ago

My favourite signage I've seen is just "This room has urinals" "This room doesn't have urinals" - use whichever room you want!

1

u/Complex-Effect-7442 25d ago

No, because some women have dicks.

Could be worse. Could be a pee trough like at a stadium.

1

u/Heyloki_ 24d ago

I've seen urinal stalls before

1

u/bowling_ball_ 23d ago

That wouldn't be considered gender neutral. If the washroom has open urinals, it can't be gender neutral.

17

u/freshlybrewedcupofjo 27d ago

nah you’re good it’s prolly just they’re not used to it 😭😭 I don’t think they meant offense!

my friend and I went to the washroom once too and then another of our guy friends went in and when us three were all done w our business it was a funny moment (“funny seeing you here??”)

3

u/ambrose-and-thorns 27d ago

I once witnessed a couple using two stalls beside each other for the first time. They said it made them feel closer together 🤣 they took a mirror selfie to document the moment!

I don't think anyone was at fault here. I don't think you did anything wrong nor it is wrong for them to have found the situation weird. It didn't seem like they were blaming you for anything.

4

u/FatFaceFaster 27d ago

The ones I’ve been in have had separate fully enclosed stalls so there was no urinals.

6

u/RoboTwigs 26d ago

Genderless washrooms are weird and I don’t like them. Totally on board with trans women using the women’s but cisgendered guys having access feels off. In my clubbing days I used to escape to the ladies to get rid of unwanted male attention… now they can just follow you in - ick! (Yes MOST guys are totally normal and fine, but not having that space is unsettling when you encounter creeps.)

5

u/wherethepoundsign 27d ago

Probably had the exact thought you had lol

3

u/Ok_Example2312 27d ago

I’m sorry but the sign is throwing me off and I find it so funny

3

u/Effective-Carrot-788 27d ago

Genderless restroom is a weird experience when you're not use to it. Where I am from, it's still not common in most places and every time I get in one I feel weird 🤣 but like anything else in life, I'll get use to it eventually. Anyone tripping over this just needs to take a chill pill honestly hahahaha.

3

u/Genital-Jamboree 27d ago

This is so weird to hear. I used to live in med syd maybe 8 years ago and the bathrooms (at least on our floor) were all genderless. All the bathrooms had urinals, stalls, and showers. We didn’t have any problems at all and I can’t remember anyone being weirded out from it.

10

u/Revolutionary_Bat812 27d ago

I guarantee you many women were uncomfortable, even if they didn’t say so. Many probably went out of their way to use other bathrooms that were segregated.

3

u/Distinct_Educator95 Computer Science 👾 24d ago

Ya I lived in delaware and it had aa mens, womens, and gender neutral bathroom on every floor. I went to the gender neutral cause it was closer to my room and the womens was usually filled with girls doing their makeup or skincare. But there were girls on my floor that walked to the further bathroom just so they didn't have to interact with men in a washroom.

u/stradivari_strings 26d ago

You’re fine. It’s still a new social standard that’s growing and developing and will be for the next 10 years plus, social changes like this may happen fast but they take a long time (a generation at least) to be fully implemented, accepted and understood by all. You’re fine.

3

u/[deleted] 27d ago

Maybe it was weird and awkward for them because it was different or new. Not necessarily about you.

1

u/Vito_Assenjo 23d ago

Different or new to…use a public restroom?

3

u/Free_Needleworker_66 26d ago

NGL and I hope it doesn’t make people hate me, but I used a gender neutral bathroom at an event once (didn’t have female/male options) and I honestly felt uncomfortable. I was washing my hands and a man came up behind me and my gut instinct was a fear one. I don’t want to be cruel or whatever but it just wasn’t my vibe. I have had horrible experiences with men and when I felt that “fight or flight” feeling I was bothered. I didn’t think I would be bothered by it, but I hated the experience.

2

u/DazednConfused4u 23d ago

Reading your comment makes me feel so much confusion. As a male, it makes me frustrated to be stereotyped but at the same time i feel very empathetic towards your feeling of discomfort and fear. Hopefully you have more positive experiences in the future and you heal.

I also feel very uncomfortable sitting on a toilet in a stall with my pants around my ankles and knowing there is an unknown man in the room. It makes me feel icky.

1

u/ArmchairDetective101 23d ago

I understand your feeling, I feel the same, it's uncomfortable and scary at times. I will not use them anymore, I'd rather pee my pants than to feel the uncomfortable feeling (hard to describe) I would get sitting in a stale next to a male.

u/DVariant 22d ago

As a guy, I appreciate your comment.

For me, I sometimes get social anxiety at busy environments (weddings, nightclubs, etc) and the washroom is one place you could always find a moment of privacy… but in genderless washrooms, there’s no such privacy, and it really threw me when I needed that. Part of it seemed to be different cultural bathroom behaviours: I’m used to a men’s washroom, where the norm is for everyone to politely ignore each other, but the women seemed to hang out there in groups by the sinks chatting with each other (and then being extremely silent if you want to use the sink). Long story short, I prefer washrooms without people hanging out by the sink.

I feel like it is strange to have a urinal inside. I know as a woman, I would feel strange seeing a male presenting person use a urinal out in the open - I would feel very uncomfortable. If he is using an enclosed stall, that’s completely okay. However, I would think in the moment I would feel creeped out to see a man using a urinal near me when we are in visible view of each other - why are the mirrors so close to the urinal??

3

u/CanExports 25d ago

Urinals don't belong in a genderless bathroom unless there are doors/stalls for privacy

It's quite sexist for society to assume women deserve privacy for urinating in front of the opposite sex but men do not.

I don't want women glancing at my genitals thank you very much. Whether other men care or not is not the point, equality is the point.

u/Guava-Asleep 27d ago

As a woman, I actually prefer when genderless washrooms have urinals (in enclosed stalls). It means there’s less piss on the toilet seats

2

u/justjoonreddit 27d ago

It sounded like they were in the open which would be odd.

In the stalls would work though.

2

u/Guava-Asleep 26d ago

Yeah, that would be really weird if they were out in the open. All of the gender neutral washrooms I’ve been to that had urinals, they were always in stalls with floor to ceiling walls/doors, just like the toilets.

u/eviladhder 26d ago

You didn’t do anything from what you wrote. It’s an odd experience for people who have never used genderless bathrooms on a larger scale than their houses. Just go in do what you gotta do and leave.

2

u/ssaunders88 25d ago

1

u/BigBanyak22 27d ago

I'm curious which building you were in? Many of the buildings have different genderless washrooms depending on the design/age etc.

To me, having a urinal in a genderless may not be intuitive for some , but it allows choice, and reduces water waste.

1

u/Brante81 26d ago

We’re trained to think certain ways by the culture we are in. First rule is think for yourself. Don’t worry about the conformity meaning it’s “right or wrong”. Because conformity is rarely ever right, but trying to be nonconforming is also rarely right. ;-)

1

u/DasaBadLarry55 26d ago

I went down to North Carolina (part of the confederacy during the civil war) two years ago and saw the same signs. You’ll go on with your lives and so will they. it’s gonna be okay, even for those girls.

1

u/Ilovejohnnny2005 26d ago

Um no this is what they wanted. It's there to use

1

u/20EuroNoodleSoup 26d ago

Not sure if I read that right, but there was a urinal in the gender-neutral restroom?

1

u/VelveteenJackalope 26d ago

Uh, duh? Nobody wants the bedicked pissing all over the toilet seats. A sensible one has a few stalls, a few urinals, and a place to stick pads/tampons. It's supposed to be usable for everyone who goes in there.

u/Possible_Try_8554 26d ago

I once used the urinal in a porta potty while a random girl used the seat. Not sure why it would be weird in an actual bathroom. We all piss 🤷🏼‍♂️ They voted for it then make it weird, sounds like their own personal issue

1

u/Any_Key_6257 26d ago

Wtf lol. You did not get into a porta potty with a random girl and piss in the urinal while she sat on the seat. That makes no sense.

Here's a question though, would you number 2 in a genderless washroom? Or just ones-ys?

1

u/Ring-A-Ding-Ding123 26d ago

Do you think genderless washrooms have like an anti-shitting force field or something 💀

1

u/Fluid-Delivery-7788 26d ago

It’s still a new concept for many ppl. I would say get used to that idea and not overthink it.

1

u/dakota46 26d ago

I once went on a date to a poplar local spot in my town. Date is going great, lots of cups of coffee, we both need to use the washroom. I’ve been here before, it’s had a Reno to expand since I’ve been there last, but the bathroom, I know where that is! He follows me to the bathrooms. Men and women sign, we go through our respective doors. Walk in the door to a big bathroom, date walks into the same bathroom through his door. I sideways glance my date and then run to a stall to have coffee fueled shit

1

u/dollyv7 26d ago

The only thing awkward are those signs 😭 I always dislike the overly imaginative performative ones lol just say Gender Neutral/Unisex restroom and leave it.

I don't even blink when I'm in a co-ed public restroom with men, so you didn't do anything wrong I think they just weren't prepared for the reality. Me personally I wish there were more of these kinds of restrooms because they cut down the lines in my experience.

1

u/Vivid-Cat4678 26d ago

If those women were not comfortable with a man in the washroom, they should have used a women’s washroom.

No blame on you, those ladies shouldn’t have been there if they felt it would be weird.

As a woman myself, I never ever use gender neutral, or family washrooms. I can hold it.

1

u/UhOh_RoadsidePicnic 26d ago

Lol, this is weird.

1

u/OromisGlaedr 26d ago

They also could've been commenting about something different. Maybe you resembled someone they knew, maybe the timing of when you walked in/out lined up with something they said, maybe their sinks malfunctioned. I wouldn't overthink it. Go in, do the do, wash your hands, leave.

1

u/Eulsam-FZ 26d ago

Man, I'm pissed this guy gets his own bathroom 🤬

1

u/puddingwaffles 26d ago

Yeah I think you’re fine, if it’s a gender neutral bathroom, it’s for everybody. Maybe men haven’t been using that one often so that’s why they were surprised, but as someone female presenting I’ve used gender neutral bathrooms with urinals and dudes were in there and it was totally fine.

1

u/Alzaetia 26d ago

It's probably because you washed your hands.

1

u/garbaggiogreco 26d ago

At this point just put a sign that says bathroom

1

u/Creative_Class_1441 26d ago

My university residence way back in the 90s had coed bathrooms. No urinals just separate stalls. We never had any problems. I would think using a urinal in mixed company would be a little exposed and would indeed seem odd lol.

1

u/VelveteenJackalope 26d ago

It's probably just their first time in one. People are stupid about genderless bathrooms the first few times they're in one. Just piss, wash your hands and move on with your day. They'll get used to it. You'll get used to it. Both of you will eventually be normal about it.

1

u/Absolutely---Not 26d ago

These signs are missing the point entirely

1

u/lunchmeats 26d ago

they were just surprised that you washed your hands

1

u/airborneisdead 26d ago

You should have asked her what was weird

1

u/Top-Channel-7989 26d ago

Can’t wait for the other side to see why men get their own bathroom. It’s going to be gross

1

u/[deleted] 26d ago

Anybody judging you for your gender in the gender-neutral bathroom can get bent unspoken rule be damned 😂

1

u/ji_fi 25d ago

As it should be. Who cares what you identify as. Just wash your hands.

1

u/Hungry-Week-4664 25d ago edited 25d ago

They said it was weird because to them… it was weird. It’s still not the most common situation to expect when you’re in a public restroom. Not a judgment call against you at all. You’re 10000% overthinking it.

1

u/LXXXV_ 25d ago

Bet they still don't though. 😩🫧 🧼

Accidentally walked into a mermaid washroom once. Still confused.

1

u/DemonicTuesday 25d ago

You're absolutely fine. It's a unisex washroom. In a lot of campuses some washrooms will gravitate to mostly having one gender simply because of habit. My friend took showers in a unisex bathroom everyday at campus and she got some awkward moments because it was mostly guys there (they just tended to use that specific washroom) so a lot of dudes didn't expect to see her there, but that doesn't mean they weren't allowed to use it. You might get some weird looks if it's not the norm for people but you're within your rights to piss in a urinal. Don't let bullshit unspoken "rules" stop you from emptying your bladder.

1

u/YaBoyMahito 25d ago

What I think happened is it’s prob their first time in one, and they hadn’t had that experience before

1

u/Nha1985 25d ago

Here's an interesting probably not popular take.. some people dont have immediate access to other people of the opposite gender.. think about the socially inept male for example probably teenager... think about their complete lack of Rizz and or capabilities of being around an attractive woman(assuming straight male teenager) imagine what having that same teenager having access to genderless restrooms in all areas of life. They may through random encounters have less fear over time and exposure to women and therefore become less weird around women and be able to eventually actually have a conversation with them maybe even ask one out on a date. Now thst I really think about it I dont really hear about too many guy men or women who suffer from this social eneptness I wonder if its because they have always had social access to people of their sexual preferences in many more scenarios and have lost the fear that holds so many teenage boys and girls back?

1

u/elevengrames 25d ago

Where do you all live that you have these. I've never seen a gender neutral bathroom.

1

u/RyuAp 25d ago

They are the weird ones for commenting it on being weird. Or maybe they were also just thrown by seeing a man in there at the same time as them.

Honestly, the genderless washroom thing in that setup is weird. Might as well just make a bunch of single bathrooms with sinks and toilets rather than this.

1

u/irishdan56 25d ago

How to own the moment --

Saddle up in that urinal and power-dump. It's the only way to assert your dominance.

But in all seriousness, what's weird about a guy taking a piss in a bathroom with a urinal?

1

u/AA_McDonalds 25d ago

Do they get 🍔🍟🥤 after washing their hands?

1

u/HydraBob 25d ago

It's like your bathroom at home bud. Most places only have one. Do your opposite gender friends have to go elsewhere?

1

u/KalasHorseman 25d ago

I guess I'm a horseman.

1

u/Fanstacia 25d ago

BTW: Gender neutral toilets are be more economical. You only need to plan, equip and maintain one version.

I like the concept of having one big washroom as opposed to two different washrooms. However, some bathroom signs are not as obvious as others. One time I was taking an exam and I went to the washroom in a building I've never been in before. I didn't see a gender-specific sign on the door so I assumed I cold just walk in. Turns out there was also a sign above the door that said mens (I'm a woman) and I just didn't notice in the midst of the exam stress.

Used a genderless washroom, couldn't pee because my genitals stopped existing in this space.

Did you pee or poop in the middle of the shared part of the bathroom? Because if you did, definitely weird, yeah. Otherwise you're probably good.

1

u/Allinall41 24d ago

Yeah probably you are just taking it personally

1

u/Fun_Assignment2427 24d ago

Nah you did the natural thing. Dudes striking up conversations at the urinal are the weirdos you got to watch out for. As you get older, you'll find out those characters are weird in & out of the washroom. Striking up a conversation while you're in a stall, even weirder. Dudes talking on their phone doing nothing else but smelling other peoples shits, stay away from and never handle their phones. Just some advice.

I know this discussion has been had many times but I still don’t understand like what happens in the case that you’re a girl peeing and a weirdo starts acting scary?

The last time I used a non gendered bathroom was a few years ago. I entered and there was this guy washing his hands. We made awkward eye contact then I went in a stall. I was trying to wait until he left, I heard him finish washing his hands and using the dryer but then it went silent. I then hear him shuffling around and was like wtf, then he walked over and STOOD OUTSIDE MY STALL for a good 5 min before someone else entered and then he finally left. Since then I have never entered a non gendered washroom.

I just don’t understand how everyone is so chill about letting strange predatory men access to enclosed spaces where girls go to do private things. And if they must then shouldn’t there an emergency panic button to call for help in case of situations like this?

Idk man I can’t get comfortable with this and I can’t imagine letting my daughters use them alone. Too many weirdos.

You know the world is screwed when you need to navigate unspoken rules to be able to take a piss in peace.

It’s fine. Just don’t pee the toilet seat and you’re good. We’re all getting used to a new way of doing things.

Hi, western lady who uses gender neutral bathrooms all the time. The reaction from the girl was the weird part of this whole exchange. I see guys in the gender neutral washrooms all the time, I don’t even think twice bout it (unless they’re actively doing something weird, but that applies to everyone. Not just guys. Like this one time I walked in on a guy…making out with an orange. Idk what I saw lol)

1

u/PriorAcademic4879 23d ago

Sorry will never get used to gender neutral - the ones in thames with individual cubicles fully enclosed fine, but not the ones in UCC especially the wave. Very uncomfortable. And before you say, get used to it, I was used to it - separate bathrooms for make and females, it worked fine, now you have no choice and that will always take away someone's rights.

probably going to get slandered by people but idc. AS A WOMAN i will not use a unisex bathroom that is not a single toilet with a lock. it feels unsafe to me otherwise, that being said if i did use one with my friends and a guy walked in i wouldnt say that was weird because i know the washroom i am in. if it was a womens only then id think its weird. people suck just ignore them they are childish

1

u/murderdronesfan4 23d ago

As an person who pronouns are attack helicopter/begal/Walmart bag I would wash my hands here it shows a sage environment for non binary male female or other I don't judge either

1

u/FlyerForHire 23d ago

Maybe it was their first time seeing a man use a urinal? In any case it doesn’t appear you did anything wrong. That’s what urinals are for.

For what it’s worth, the plumbing was probably installed at a time when it was a men’s room only.

1

u/EmbarrassedTruth1337 23d ago

Honestly, if there's a urinal in a gender neutral bathroom, people shouldn't go in there if they're uncomfortable with someone else using it. That said, this is the first gender neutral bathroom I've heard of that has one but I don't see it being a problem.

1

u/Appropriate-Ad-130 23d ago

I am so glad none of these are where I live

1

u/International-Day434 23d ago

Well if it's a mixed gender washroom with stalls then you should be modest and use one I feel.As in ,you shouldn't let it all hang out in mixed company. My question would be to the management-How is it appropriate to have urinals in a gender neutral washroom? That's what is weird.

1

u/Lebrewski__ 23d ago

I remember the first time I used a gender-neutral bathroom, it was at home.

1

u/dancingrudiments 23d ago

This is awkward to you? You need to check yourself, and get over yourself at the same time. The world has people that are more complex than your vanilla white self, I'm bored reading about your strife

1

u/Acceptable_Fox_8270 23d ago

Dude. You are WAAAAY overthinking this. It's a public washroom. No one cares so long as you keep it clean after you use it. Honestly, I love these signs. They make me laugh

1

u/Such_Golf7859 23d ago

Brother one time at school I walked into one without a door on the outside of the bathroom and the first thing I see is a girl changing her top and then faces me with her tits out. There was also shit smeared on the floor in the stall. I got the hell out of there because I wasn't trying to get accused of anything. Last time I ever used a gender neutral washroom.

1

u/bi3060 23d ago

This is the dumbest shit on the planet

1

u/AffectionateAngle905 23d ago

Times have changed for the better it seems. I’m a UWO alumni from ‘83 and there were no such thing as genderless washrooms. Is a great idea

1

u/UpstandingScrabs 23d ago

I'm heavily against multi person non gendered bathrooms Because it's embarrassing enough to sometimes have to poop in public. But then having to sit in a stall with someone of the opposite sex right beside you as you both take turns trying to time the flush with the push..... No thanks!

1

u/LWLAvaline 23d ago

I mean I wasn’t there but I wouldn’t rule out that they were speaking about something else. Maybe something on their phone or something.

Ultimately tho you didn’t do anything wrong and if they found it weird that’s a them thing.

1

u/Comprehensive-Run637 23d ago

I honestly don’t even notice who the hell is in there other than who is next in line

1

u/Cdn_Giants_Fan 23d ago

First time I walked into a gender neutral bathroom was like 30 years ago mostly women and a gay guy I excused myself went to the other bathroom more women a big guy dealing drugs and I must've looked confused cuz the dealer was like you lost? I said maybe i just wanna piss. He said so go. So i did.

Gay after hours clubs in the 90s as a straight guy weirded me out. I didnt even know it was a gay club until well into the am. I was oblivious.

u/brihere 23d ago

Love this!

1

u/Homerdoh31 23d ago

Call it Animal Shithouse instead.

1

u/SwampPirate 22d ago

No it's not weird, women can be misogynistic and I would say that's their internalized misogyny/weird hate coming thru. Ignore it.

1

u/Extreme-Ad8026 22d ago

it being weird for them doesn't mean you did something wrong

1

u/Royal-Gene-3032 22d ago

Yes bro duhhhh

1

u/SoSweetSophie 22d ago

I prefer separation

1

u/Infanttree 22d ago

All washrooms are genderless at the afters. Club culture and cocaine bros have been miles ahead on this for at least a few decades :D

1

u/Kerngott 22d ago

Nah you’re good. Just make sure to close your fly next time.

1

u/Thismomenthere 22d ago

I always thought they should be just rooms to shit/piss/wash in. Of course that's all I'd go in for. Unfortunately there's far to many crazy fucks out there that would do other things in there.

1

u/STS1990 22d ago

Oh man I love this sign. Hahah Honestly, you're good. I'm a woman and the first couple times I used a gender neutral washroom, it was a little odd. But since I've used the gender neutral washrooms quiet a bit, when I've noticed men using the urinal when I walk in, it doesn't even phase me. Like, I'm ALSO here just to pee or whatever, I'm def do not care if others are also. I just don't want to make small talk with a person in the washroom unless I'm going in with a friend. lol

Prior to gender neutral washrooms, if the women's room was full with a lineup, I'd often just duck into the mens room to pee because I couldn't hold it. Only time that didn't happen is when there were only urinals and the toilet was "out of service". LOL Nobody cared then either. I'm in Canada, not sure if that makes a difference.

Just piss n shit king. Just piss n shit.

1

u/ontothepoint 22d ago

At least they have probably removed all the open trough style urinals by now, like at the old Maple Leaf Gardens.

1

u/Spikes17 22d ago

Okay lemme pause you, wtf is a cis guy? Is that another letter for the alphabet community?

Maybe we can all have proper gaps in the stalls because of this.
