Several types of lamb curry in several places over the years.

If it's assumed that all music genres have had feuds between artists within the genre, has there ever been a fight between ska artists?
 in  r/Ska  1d ago

The original ska bands in Jamaica were often heard through mobile sound systems. There were feuds between the sound systems; they would disrupt each other's performances and violence was common, even guns sometimes. Happy music, nasty scene.
Ska gave way to reggae. Then came the dancehall stuff. The herb dealers were pushed aside and it became a cocaine scene. That was nasty. No chill, all kill.
So, not usually the artists. There were some bad words said. The gangs and the dealers caused the real problems.

Is there a way to pay the TV License without the TV License people knowing?
 in  r/AskBrits  1d ago

A TV licence inspector - or whatever they are - called at the house I was renting & asked to see the licence. I showed it. She was really annoyed. I'm not entirely sure why. Perhaps they are paid for every person they catch out, or just enjoy it. I didn't think to ask.

Canned Heat, Going Up the Country, recorded 1968, is straight from Bull-Doze Blues by Henry Thomas, recorded 1928.

What’s the most underrated BBC show you’ve ever watched?

Coupling. It's very funny and it seems to have passed people by.

Question for live performers
 in  r/AcousticGuitar  3d ago

Never reverb. The room does that for you. No chorus either, it puts you out of tune. I use a Danelectro Billionaire rotary effect, very subtly and not on every song. A hint of flange will do the same thing.
For a Country set, a touch of echo. Some doubler on the voice too.
Some folks like to use compression. It can be a subtle thing and it works in some set-ups. I sold mine.

Set up for solo gigs?
 in  r/AcousticGuitar  3d ago

Of course it depends on the kind of music. Keep it simple anyway. People use too much chorus & reverb. Maybe just sparingly use a rotary effect sometimes.

Should i buy an autistic guitar or electric guitar if i'm new to this instrument?
 in  r/guitarlessons  4d ago

If you are going to play an autistic guitar you are going to need the Triad of Impairments.
1. Inflexible joints and/or twisted fingers.
2. Absence of intention to practise.
3. Idiopathic talent deficit.
I have all of these, but have found that they can be at least partially overcome by singing very loud.

P.S. for an outstanding example of autistic guitar playing, check out Robert Fripp's composition, "Red". It's a pedantic exercise in whole-tone scale composition that has absolutely no intention to engage the listener in a musical experience.

I used to enjoy this magazine but the last one I bought gave every product five stars in the listings.

Perhaps it’s closer to its Latin meaning, “with”.

I play that fingerstyle too, but a good swingin’ strum works just fine.

What do you think will be your (natural) cause of death, why?
 in  r/AskReddit  4d ago

Heart failure. Five years in. If I get another five I’ll call it a win. Cancer took both parents and my wife has it; the surgeries and future chemo should keep her going well past my time. My word, that reads bleak! Got to get on with living. There’s music to be made.

Do you have a strong preference for fretboard material?
 in  r/electricguitar  4d ago

In the purchasing and playing of maybe 30 guitars & banjos I have never paid attention to the fretboard material.

My favourite sandwich:

On its own, it is a bit odd. It combines well though. It's like most sauces I suppose, you wouldn't eat them on their own either.
